No Fair Playing Tricks

Roxy Shangguan pressed her lips together in a smile, extending her tiny hand toward him. She blinked innocently and said, "How did you know I have this? Mother said it was a gift from my husband. So, are you my husband?"

Quentin Hua was taken aback, deep in thought, not noticing the slyness hidden in her eyes. He simply asked, "Who is your mother?" Hadn’t Morgan Shangguan said her fiancé took her away? Why was she at the Ghost King's Manor? And how could Prince Damien allow an ordinary child here? But thinking it over, it was impossible for her to be Prince Damien’s child—there had been no word of Morgan Shangguan being pregnant, and the timing didn’t add up. If you counted from when Morgan and Damien met, after ten months of pregnancy, this little beauty shouldn’t be this big yet.

Just as he was pondering, a voice filled with laughter came from behind, "Isn’t that me?"

Quentin Hua turned his head and saw Morgan Shangguan and Damien Gray standing at the courtyard entrance. Suddenly, he remembered his earlier question, and with Morgan’s answer, Quentin was completely petrified. No way, right?

Maxwell Jing grabbed Ethan Gu and burst into laughter. Originally, they had wanted to follow Damien Gray, but Damien didn’t want anyone disturbing his time with Morgan, so the two were left behind. Still, their stay at the Ghost Guild was because of Damien. Once he left, they went off to enjoy their own time together as well. With the Four Hall Masters guarding the Ghost Guild, nothing would go wrong. Now they’d returned for the twins’ birthday.

They hadn’t expected that upon returning, they’d run right into Morgan Shangguan and Damien Gray—and witness such a delightful scene. Quentin Hua, that demon, actually got teased by someone, and it was by a two-year-old toddler!

Ethan Gray stood off to the side, arms crossed and face cold, his voice flat as he spat out two words: "So dumb!"

Those two words finally snapped Quentin Hua out of his daze. Looking at the adorable child in his arms, he stammered, "Are those two your parents?"

Roxy Shangguan followed his trembling finger’s direction and nodded firmly. Quentin Hua glanced at Morgan Shangguan and Damien Gray, then at Roxy, looking utterly miserable, as if he’d lost his own parents.

Suddenly, Ethan Gray called out, "Roxy, come here!"

Roxy Shangguan twisted around in Quentin Hua’s arms and glanced at Ethan Gray, pouting. "Brother, he’s mine!"

Ethan Gray replied expressionlessly, "He’s ignored me as your brother-in-law for so long. You can go back to him when he learns what manners are!"

Roxy Shangguan sighed and cast a sympathetic glance at Quentin Hua. "Quentin, it’s not that I don’t want to help you. If I did, you’d only end up worse off…" Before Quentin could react, she slipped out of his arms, walked over to Ethan Gray, and stood beside him, poking her finger at Quentin as if to say, "I’d like to come over, but you should call him brother-in-law!"

B-brother-in-law? Quentin Hua stared at the cool little guy, close to tears. Oh heavens! This is just too much!

After helping Ethan Gray and Roxy Shangguan celebrate their birthday, Quentin Hua finally came to terms with the cruel fact that he now had such young in-laws—and a two-year-old brother-in-law. He accepted it, but asking him to call a two-year-old toddler 'brother-in-law'? He’d rather die!

He couldn’t help but sigh again. Who could tell him why a two-year-old toddler was so formidable? He couldn’t even compete. When would his little beauty return to his side?

Another long sigh escaped him.

"Quentin… what’s wrong?" Roxy Shangguan pounced over and lay across his lap, tilting her little head up, asking innocently.

Quentin Hua glanced around, making sure Ethan Gray wasn’t nearby. His eyes flashed, and he scooped Roxy onto his lap, popped a candy into her mouth, and started coaxing her: "Roxy, why don’t you come back to the Lotus Sect with me? I’ll give you candy every day!" After spending a few days together, he’d learned just how much Roxy loved sweets. But since Roxy was a two-faced little girl, he just thought she was clever, never realizing how mature her mind really was.

"Really?" With a candy stuffed in her mouth, Roxy’s cheeks puffed out as she gazed at him with big, watery eyes, unblinking.

Quentin Hua froze for a moment, wailing inwardly. How could someone so young already be like this? What would she be like when she grew up? He was starting to foresee all the trouble ahead and even felt sympathy for Damien Gray—after all, Morgan Shangguan’s looks were already trouble enough! Fortunately, Morgan’s reputation wasn’t great, so she didn’t have too many rivals for Damien, but the little one in his arms would surely be a sought-after prize!

It looked like he needed to take some measures!

As he was thinking, a soft laugh rang out, "Quentin Hua, you think you can lure Roxy away with a little candy? The Ghost King's Manor has no shortage of sweets!"

Quentin Hua looked up and saw Morgan Shangguan leaning against Damien Gray at the courtyard entrance, watching him with a half-smile.

Caught red-handed, Quentin Hua showed no embarrassment. He looked at Damien Gray with a serious expression and said, "Sell her to me!" No one knew that the reason he survived the brink of death was because of that innocent little face. Maybe no one would believe it, but it was true—her pure expression seemed to make all troubles and pain vanish.

Morgan Shangguan raised an eyebrow and glanced at Damien Gray, saying, "Damien, it seems the blow was too much—he’s gone mad!"

The crimson mark on Damien Gray’s forehead was hidden away; otherwise, no one would dare look at him directly. Even so, the faint chill and demonic aura he radiated made people wary of getting close. He lowered his head and kissed Morgan Shangguan, a hint of a smile at his lips, but said nothing.

Smack—Quentin Hua was suddenly slapped across the face, stunned for a moment. In the next instant, his lazy gaze turned sharp and intimidating.

Roxy Shangguan shrank her neck, her small body trembling as tears fell in big drops, clearly frightened. Quentin Hua quickly withdrew his fierce aura, holding her and asking, "What’s wrong? Don’t cry, sweetheart… Wasn’t I the one who got hit?"

"Waa…" Roxy glared at him through her tears. "Quentin, you’re a big meanie! I’m not for sale!"
