This Fiend Beast Is Not That Sacred Beast
Seeing the incoming, ferocious fist, Evan Yang didn’t try to block it. He quickly spun away, so the punch missed him—but it smashed into the mountain behind him instead. Boom! A huge crater appeared right where Evan had just been standing.
"Phew, that was close!" Evan exclaimed in shock.
The Shafiend Ape, seeing its attack fail, launched another blow.
Evan was startled. He dodged aside again in a flash, muttering to himself, "What kind of ape is this? It’s terrifying."
"Roar!" The Shafiend Ape, furious that Evan dodged again, let out an angry howl. It opened its mouth wide and sprayed out black gas—Evan instantly recognized it as baleful qi.
This kind of attack was useless against him, so Evan dodged again and retreated.
"Damn human, if you’ve got guts, stop dodging!" the Spine-Tiger Fiend shouted.
"If you’ve got guts, come duel me yourself. Why bother bringing in this big brute?" Evan laughed.
"Cunning human!" the Spine-Tiger Fiend roared.
"You’re not so bad yourself," Evan laughed.
"Damn it," the Spine-Tiger Fiend said. Then it jabbered something to the Shafiend Ape, and suddenly the ape seemed to transform—the fur all over its body began to emit white light.
The entire ape doubled in size.
"What the—what kind of monster is this?" Evan hadn’t expected the Shafiend Ape to get so huge.
Now that it was bigger, the Shafiend Ape’s attack power was even more terrifying. Its fists carried a monstrous aura, and its speed had increased a lot—it was nothing like a clumsy ape anymore.
With its speed ramped up, Evan started to struggle.
"Damn human, get ready to die!" the Spine-Tiger Fiend said smugly.
Evan frowned. He knew that if this kept up, he’d eventually get smashed into pulp. His daggers were useless—he couldn’t even throw them, because the Shafiend Ape’s next attack would come too fast.
Even if he managed to throw them, the Shafiend Ape’s tough hide would just flick them aside, blocking the blades easily.
Evan knew it wasn’t that his daggers weren’t sharp—it was that he just didn’t have enough force behind them.
"This is insane." Seeing that his strength couldn’t even break through the ape’s skin, Evan was shocked.
'Roar!' the Shafiend Ape roared, giving Evan no chance to pause.
'What should I do?' Evan wondered.
Staring at the now ten-meter-tall Shafiend Ape, Evan felt intense pressure. He was using all his strength, but still couldn’t escape its attack range—forced to shuttle back and forth in a tiny area.
The Shafiend Ape didn’t just use its hands—it also stomped its feet hard on the slope, making the ground shake.
'Let’s try these,' Evan thought. He released over a hundred mutant insects—bred from Buglord, the pink stones he found in the blood-mosquito cave in Hundred-Change Valley, and later mutated with Void Grubs.
Evan wanted to see if these insects could do anything to the Shafiend Ape.
Suddenly, a hundred insects shot out, moving incredibly fast. Their tails were sharp, like blood-sucking tubes.
The Shafiend Ape, suddenly faced with so many bugs, grew furious—swatting at them with its hands. But the insects were so fast, it couldn’t hit a single one. Instead, they latched onto its body, their tails piercing deep into its flesh.
'Did it work?' Evan said, surprised and delighted.
The Shafiend Ape raged, jumping wildly in place and swatting at the insects, but they reacted instantly—whoosh—and flew away, ready for another attack.
'Interesting,' Evan said, watching like a spectator. The Shafiend Ape was overwhelmed, unable to spare any attention for Evan. As for the Spine-Tiger Fiend, it was dumbfounded—it never expected Evan to raise such creatures.
As for Captain Lee and Captain Ling, they had already disappeared—they had no idea what was happening here.
A quarter of an hour passed. The Shafiend Ape kept raging, but hadn’t killed a single insect. The ground was already cracked—soon, it seemed, the whole mountain might collapse.
'So huge, so much blood—I wonder how long it’ll take,' Evan muttered.
Just then, Evan noticed some of the insects that had merged with Void Grubs were doing something new—not sucking blood, since there were over a hundred of them and it’d be hard to drain such a huge ape dry. Instead, their tails started spewing black gas.
'Baleful qi?' Evan hadn’t expected these bugs to spew baleful qi—but it was definitely related to the Void Grubs.
He watched as the baleful qi was injected straight into the Shafiend Ape’s body through the insects’ tails.
The Shafiend Ape, already furious, grew even more violent—hammering its own chest. Evan could see blood starting to seep from where it hit itself.
'Is that even possible?' Evan said skeptically.
Until the Shafiend Ape gradually weakened, shrinking smaller and smaller—until it was just the size of a child.
