Rune Sect Disciples Are Just Too Annoying
People were glaring at him like he’d killed their parents—seriously, the whole crowd was practically foaming at the mouth, demanding he be executed on the spot.
Leo Li whipped out a celestial sword and started stalking toward Baxa, every step screaming 'I'm here to end you.'
“Hold up!” Suddenly, Nine Li zipped in and threw himself right in front of Leo Li, blocking his way.
“What’s the rush?” Leo Li shot back, eyebrow raised.
“Is that really Baxa?” Nine Li asked, not budging an inch.
“Of course that’s Baxa,” Leo Li snapped. “The infamous fiend—he’s got a rap sheet longer than the Elm River!”
“Except, when the demon beasts attacked us, he’s the one who saved me,” Nine Li said, voice steady. “So... you sure you’ve got the right guy?”
“Wait, what? He saved you? Then who grabbed you all?” Henry Xiao asked, scratching his head in total confusion.
“The ones who attacked us? We brought them with us,” Nine Li announced, and with a flourish, released two demon beasts from his Spirit Pouch.
Then he slapped a talisman on each of them—bam!—and just like that, they morphed into human form.
A guy and a girl, looking way too nervous to be innocent.
"Wait, isn’t that—" someone gasped, sneaking a peek at Master Yuwen before clamming up.
Someone finally blurted out, “Hey, aren’t those Master Yuwen’s two guardian Spirit Beasts?”
“Master Yuwen, what’s the deal here?” Everyone stared at him, waiting for drama.
Master Yuwen looked totally baffled. “Nine Li, you’re not messing this up, are you? How could they be the ones who grabbed you?”
“No mistake! It’s definitely them!” the other disciples chimed in, voices overlapping.
If it was just Nine Li talking, maybe people would argue.
But when more than twenty people all say the same thing—well, good luck denying it.
People couldn’t help but believe it now.
“I can’t believe it! I just can’t!” Master Yuwen’s face twisted in disappointment and rage. “You two actually turned traitor! See? Demons will always be demons—raise them all you want, they’ll never be loyal!”
He hadn’t even finished ranting when—whoosh!—a streak of sword light flashed.
Master Yuwen lunged, launching a sneak attack, clearly aiming to take them both out.
Ding! The sword struck with a ringing clash.
But his sword bounced right off, like he’d hit solid steel.
Golden-red talismans shimmered into view over their bodies—
—they were top-tier protective talismans, no doubt about it.
Really high-grade stuff. The kind you’d kill to get your hands on.
And who else but Lily Bai could’ve made them?
With those protective talismans up, good luck killing them before the timer runs out.
Ugh, Sigil Sect disciples are just the worst...
Master Yuwen’s brow twitched, and a chilly glint flashed through his eyes.
......
Lily Bai stared at Master Yuwen, heart pounding in shock.
He really was going to kill them just to shut them up. Yikes.
Damian Shenxiao had warned her before they came—Lily hadn’t believed him, but now she was forced to admit he was right.
“Master Yuwen!” Lily Bai called out, voice ringing clear. “Your guardian Spirit Beasts did something this outrageous—I totally get why you’re furious! Honestly, killing them would be fair. But this involves a dozen major sects and noble families, so maybe let’s not rush. Interrogate them first, then go full executioner if you want.”
“They definitely switched sides and joined Damian Shenxiao. Why bother interrogating?” Xuan Shaofeng scoffed.
Lily Bai flashed a sly smile. “Senior Xuan, those two spent all year inside the Evercrest Immortal Mountain barrier. How exactly did they defect? Did your barrier spring a giant leak for Damian’s people to waltz in, or do you have a traitor in Evercrest? Aren’t you dying to know?”
They kidnapped all those heirs, didn’t kill them, didn’t let them go, just stashed them in an ancient tomb under Elm Mountain—then slapped a talisman master’s spell array on top so nobody could find them. What’s up with that? Doesn’t anyone here want answers?
Lily Bai was always a master of words, relentless as ever. “And my junior brother Nine Li said it was Baxa who saved him. If those two are really Damian Shenxiao’s people, why would they pick a fight with Baxa?”
