Spectral Juggernaut Ethan Zhang

My heart was pounding with excitement. The moment was drawing closer—like slicing through melons and vegetables, those skeletons stood no chance before my corpse. All they could do was be blasted into green light.

I immediately unleashed the ghost threads, just as General Bones charged forward, swinging his massive blade down toward my corpse.

With a thunderous crash, my corpse raised both hands and blocked General Bones’s greatsword. In that instant, green light sprayed out from within its body.

I saw it again—the gauntlets, the row of tiny holes on the back, constantly sucking in the surrounding air, emitting a series of sharp, piercing sounds.

With another thunderous crash, my corpse’s feet sank into the ground, crushed under General Bones’s weight, almost unable to breathe.

“Hmph, so it’s you—the one who killed so many of our generals. Prepare to die! Bone Cleaver Slash!”

Suddenly, the white bones wrapped around General Bones’s greatsword creaked and transformed into something resembling a giant mouth. It began to howl, the bones parting to reveal jagged teeth. That bony maw clamped down on my corpse’s arms, locking them in its bite.

More and more air was sucked into the gauntlets. Then I saw the metallic disc in the center begin to bulge, swelling as if inflating.

With a thunderous crash, my corpse broke free from its restraints. Both fists slammed together against General Bones’s ribs. He screamed as his ribs cracked and shattered completely.

That disc kept swelling. My corpse leapt high, then thrust both fists back with all its might. With a thunderous crash, I stared blankly as General Bones was crushed into dust, then dissolved into a streak of green light and vanished.

A massive crater appeared, the violent shockwave scattering the surrounding skeletons, reducing them to streaks of green light.

At that moment, I saw the disc begin to contract, releasing steam-like air from its tiny holes. The green glow leaking from my undead body also started to fade.

By now, the rebel forces were in full retreat. My undead body stood motionless on the ground, as if asleep. Gradually, only my corpse remained in the arena, while Empress Yuna Ji's troops stayed inside the city.

My Specter Web wound around my undead body, probing for any sign of life—but I felt nothing, which was strange. Just then, a short skeleton emerged from the city. To my shock, it wore a mask of human skin, its face twisted and sly.

It wasn’t made of paper with painted features pasted on the skull’s face, as I first thought. Only when I drew closer did I realize the truth.

“You’d better not touch this guy with your Specter Web, even though you’re the original.”

I gasped, and suddenly my undead body moved. With a hiss, steam-like green energy sprayed from its cracked form. Then my corpse lifted its head, giving me a cold, emotionless stare.

Shocked, I stared at it. With a thunderous crash, my undead body appeared right in front of me, its fist swinging toward me.

With a whoosh, I dodged, but the force of the blow tore my clothes and sent me flying back. My cloak billowed as I regained my footing, only to see my undead body raising its fists, streams of air spraying from the gauntlet’s tiny holes.

There were now rows of tiny holes on the disc, closing rapidly as my undead body approached. The holes on the back of the gauntlet began to suck in air at high speed.
