Nether Corpse Ethan Zhang Part 2

I watched in astonishment as the vehicle sped across the bumpy road. With its six wheels, you could hardly feel any jolts at all.

Ahead, the bone wolf was running with all its might.

“Oh, I designed this. The shock absorption and balance are at the limit of my current abilities, so you barely feel anything. Let's talk, Ethan Zhang.”

I sighed. Truly impressive—this Engineer isn't just boasting.

I quietly gazed at my own corpse, feeling a strange sensation. Then The Engineer told me he arrived here more than five hundred years ago.

“Back then, I'd just finished my sentence in hell and turned down the position offered by the Underworld. I planned to reincarnate—life had grown dull, and what I sought couldn't be found in the Underworld. I saw all the changes in the mortal world: compasses, gunpowder, so many inventions. Humanity kept advancing, so I wanted to be reborn.”

The Engineer sighed as he spoke, and I nodded.

“But good times didn't last. I was already entering the cycle of reincarnation, but because I'd fought in wars during my life, I ended up here.”

When I arrived, everything here was chaos. The Engineer got swept up in the war, died many times, and eventually escaped from the mines. After that, he devoted himself to research, gathering all sorts of information from people of different eras.

But most of the time, he could only work behind closed doors. In recent times, Yuna Ji placed devices in every city that let the residents glimpse the mortal world, so they wouldn't be bored.
