Marriage Proposal
"Hmph!" Howard Liu, being a man, couldn't stand being ridiculed in public. He flung his hand and turned to leave, his face burning with embarrassment.
May Parker shot a fierce glare toward the house before running after Howard Liu.
Howard Liu hurried off, keeping his distance from May Parker as if she were the plague.
May Parker stumbled after him, her voice sharp: "Howard Liu, how dare you look down on me! Are you just going to ignore your family's business?"
Howard Liu paused, gritted his teeth, and took a deep breath. If not for his family's business, he would never have gotten mixed up with May Parker, the notorious woman of Greenfield City.
Seeing Howard Liu stop, May Parker strutted over, smug, and said, "Don't forget, I know how to make your family's thousand acres of farmland grow fresh vegetables in winter. The Leo Family could become the richest in the provincial capital! If you cross me, I'll go to Benjamin Zhang instead and let him make the money!"
Howard Liu's face changed instantly. He forced a smile and said, "Come on, May, don't be mad. It's Cynthia Wu who made me angry, not you! Look, I'm about to marry you, isn't that sincere? Please teach me how to grow those Evans Manor vegetables. When I make money, we'll spend it together!"
Only then did May Parker smile. "That's better. Once we're married, I'll teach you!"
"May, let's go! I'll go to your house and propose right now! See, I'm coming in person—so sincere! You'll have face!" Howard Liu said, flattering her as he pulled May Parker toward the Parker house.
Inside Cynthia Wu's house, two women were leaning together, chatting idly.
"Do you think Howard Liu has lost his mind? He's throwing away his reputation to get together with May Parker?" Su Li was puzzled. "May Parker said Howard Liu wants to marry her. That can't be true, right? The Liu family isn't the richest in Greenfield City, but they're still well-off—with a thousand acres of good farmland and several businesses. There's no way they'd let May Parker marry in as the main wife, right?"
Cynthia Wu also found it odd. Howard Liu has always been so proud; playing around with May Parker is one thing, but to really marry her, he'd need a proper match with a wealthy young lady—a golden flower bride.
Outside, Yuanbao and Zhang Mu were together. Zhang Mu handed a bow to Yuanbao, smiling, "Yuanbao, this is my new bow and arrows. Give it a try."
Yuanbao took the bow, aimed at a distant target, and shot. The arrow hit the bullseye, and with such force that it pierced right through!
Zhang Mu was amazed. "Yuanbao, your archery is incredible!"
Yuanbao smiled shyly, "Brother Zhang, your bow is really good. I like it!"
Yuanbao shook his head, unable to explain. He just knew how to do it, and whenever he picked up a bow, it all came naturally.
Archery takes practice, but even if Zhang Mu trained for another ten years, he couldn't match Yuanbao's skill. Yet Yuanbao, the village fool, was somehow a natural—quick and accurate, especially when hunting.
But as for martial arts, Zhang Mu couldn't tell if Yuanbao knew any at all.
There were only two possibilities: either Yuanbao really didn't know martial arts, or his skills were so advanced that Zhang Mu couldn't even recognize them.
Meanwhile, outside the Parker house, gossip was already swirling. News of Howard Liu going to propose to May Parker had spread through the village like wildfire.
Everyone was craning their necks to watch the spectacle, eager to see how things would unfold.
Howard Liu straightened his clothes, put on his best face, and strode toward the Parker house, ready for the marriage proposal.
