She's Going to Hurt Me to Death
As soon as Sophie White finished speaking, Mrs. Penny rolled her eyes countless times in her heart.
All this 'Alex, Alex,' calling him so intimately—what a shameless little vixen!
Before Alexander Hayes could speak, Mrs. Penny swiftly stepped forward and said to Sophie White, "Miss Sophie, you're overthinking it. Yes, I'm pregnant, but I'm plenty brave. That wound of yours—the Prince says it's a knife wound. Oh, I've seen plenty of those! Bellies split open with a single slash, guts spilling everywhere, stomachs stabbed until they look like honeycombs—you name it, I've seen it! Your little injury hardly scares me. Still, thank you for worrying about my child, but I'm not afraid of blood or wounds. You, however, can't keep being so stubborn. If you keep ignoring that wound, it might get infected, and then you'll end up with your guts rotting out. Not even a miracle could save you then!"
Sophie White felt a wave of discomfort after hearing Mrs. Penny's words.
But Mrs. Penny's words did manage to frighten Sophie White. When Sophie hurt herself for realism, she hadn't held back, and now the wound had truly worsened. Just imagining her guts rotting out made Sophie shiver.
Alexander Hayes said, "Sophie, since Mrs. Penny put it that way, you can relax."
With that, Alexander Hayes stood up and said to Mrs. Penny, "Mrs. Penny, work with Dr. Rowan Lin and make sure she recovers."
After speaking, Alexander Hayes strode out of the room. Sophie White, unwilling to give up, propped herself up and stared at Alexander's back. Just then, Mrs. Penny burst out laughing, "Miss Sophie, don't lean out so far. If you keep stretching, your guts really might fall out."
Sophie White looked up and saw Mrs. Penny's beautiful, mocking smile, which made her feel distinctly uncomfortable.
At this point, Sophie White had no choice but to let Mrs. Penny treat her wound.
Mrs. Penny lifted Sophie White's clothes and examined the wound carefully, clicking her tongue twice. "That's a pretty serious injury."
Sophie White didn’t know Mrs. Penny used to be a Shadow Guard of the Hayes Family. Now, with her pregnancy, Mrs. Penny's gait had changed, and you couldn't tell she was once a martial arts expert. Sophie assumed she was just an ordinary maid and sneered at her, "You're really not afraid of blood, huh? Pretty gutsy."
Mrs. Penny chuckled, "I'm not that useless. Miss Sophie, I'm about to treat your wound, so brace yourself."
Meanwhile, Alexander Hayes was waiting outside Dr. Rowan Lin's courtyard for them to finish treating Sophie White's wound when suddenly, Sophie’s agonized screams rang out from inside.
Alexander Hayes's heart skipped a beat and he rushed into the courtyard, only to see Dr. Rowan Lin still standing at the door.
Alexander Hayes wasn’t sure what was happening inside, worried that Sophie White might be improperly dressed, so he didn’t barge in. He called out from outside, "Sophie, what’s going on in there? Why are you screaming so loudly?"
Sophie White’s voice came out, choked with tears: "Alex, the woman you found is so rough! She—she’s going to torture me to death!"
Then Mrs. Penny’s voice rang out, "Miss Sophie, don’t mistake kindness for ill intent! Your wound is full of pus—if I don’t squeeze it out, your guts really will rot. I’m using all my strength to help you, so why are you making me out to be the villain?"
Sophie White was both furious and in pain, her face pale and drenched in sweat. She glared at Mrs. Penny, pointed at her wound, and snapped, "You’re talking nonsense! There’s no pus in my wound, and you don’t need to squeeze it so hard!"
