Big Trouble Is Brewing
After Lena fell ill, Grace Wan took control of the entire Prime Minister's Residence.
Dowager Lady Evelyn Zhu truly doesn't know if this daughter-in-law can handle things...
"Don't worry too much, madam. Today, I noticed... Lady Vivian Zhu is much tougher and smarter than I expected. And besides, the Prime Minister and Miss Grace are both here!" Aunt Autumn said.
"We'll see," Dowager Lady Evelyn Zhu said, frowning.
Aunt Autumn said nothing more, focusing on her massage.
"No matter what happens with the Sacred Relic Festival, we do not interfere," Dowager Lady Evelyn Zhu instructed after a moment.
"Understood," Aunt Autumn replied.
"Do you really understand?" Dowager Lady Evelyn Zhu shot her a sideways look.
Aunt Autumn said, "Lady Blue Moon will definitely do everything she can to sabotage things. You want to see if Lady Vivian Zhu is really up to the challenge..."
...
Only five days remain until the Sacred Relic Festival.
Grace originally wanted to go back to Jade Hall with her mother to discuss things, but Maya Summers pulled her away.
Once they were alone, Grace asked, "What's up, Aunt Maya?"
"Hey, do you get the feeling something big is about to go down?" Maya Summers asked, looking serious.
"Go down? Like what?"
"Your mom and Grace Wan, obviously! This is the vibe of something huge brewing!"
Grace stroked her chin. "Maybe!"
"Maybe? More like definitely!" Maya Summers said. "Lady Blue Moon is no pushover! She'll definitely play dirty! You have to tell your mom to be on high alert!"
"Got it! Thanks, Aunt Maya!" Grace grinned. "I'll go find my mom right now and tell her that you and I are totally on her side!"
......
Grace was a little excited, but also worried, as she ran to Jade Hall.
But to her surprise, she was turned away at the door.
Aunt Crystal told her, "Miss Grace, Lady Vivian Zhu says you don't need to worry, just go home. She's had the doctor prescribe her some tonics and needs to meditate in seclusion for a few days to recover her strength for the Sacred Relic Festival."
Grace craned her neck to peek inside. "Did my mom tell you how she's planning to handle the Sacred Relic Festival?"
"Isn't Lady Vivian Zhu going to discuss it with Dowager Lady Evelyn Zhu tomorrow morning? You'll find out then," Aunt Crystal replied.
Grace had no choice but to go home.
...
The next day, Dowager Lady Evelyn Zhu once again prepared a charcoal brazier for Lena.
When Lena arrived and greeted her, Dowager Lady Evelyn Zhu asked, "So, what's your plan for the Sacred Relic Festival this year?"
Lena said, "I want to invite Abbot William Wise from the Temple of Compassionate Splendor to hold a grand blessing ceremony for our spiritual relics."
"Wow! Lady Vivian Zhu, you sure have connections!" Grace Wan laughed. "The Temple of Compassionate Splendor is the national temple of Bluevale, and Abbot William Wise is its head. He's the legendary disciple of Master Daniel Sage, and even the emperor can't always get him to show up! They say he's beyond the mortal realm, untouched by worldly affairs. You think you can just invite him over?"
"Really? He's that hard to invite?" Lena looked genuinely surprised.
Seeing her mother like this, Grace felt her whole world crumble.
Dowager Lady Evelyn Zhu's face instantly turned sour.
Lena must've spent too long hiding away in Jade Hall—she's totally clueless about the real world!
She never should've agreed to this yesterday!
"Mom." Grace gave her a desperate look. "Inviting Abbot William Wise is basically impossible."
"How would we know if we haven't tried? Maybe Abbot William Wise will come!" Lena insisted.
