Cecilia Gu and Molly Yun hesitated.
Although they had saved each other twice, they weren’t truly close—certainly not close enough to visit each other’s homes as guests.
But judging by his appearance, he really didn’t look well, and the doctor had declared he wouldn’t live past thirty.
Compassion is a universal instinct.
Besides, neither Cecilia nor Molly were cold-hearted people.
Oh well, even if it’s just end-of-life care, let’s give him a little brightness in his last two years.
The sisters exchanged a glance and nodded together. “Alright.”
Hearing them accept his invitation, Mr. Adrian immediately broke into a joyful smile.
“Then, it’s a date!” Mr. Adrian grinned like a happy child. “I’ll prepare some local delicacies for you!”
After returning home, Cecilia video-chatted with Charles Yin and talked about Mr. Adrian. She couldn’t help but sigh, “When my sister heard that Mr. Adrian only had two years left to live, her eyes turned red. It made me think of the year she was on the brink of death—she must have been so sad. She was only a little over twenty, still so young, with so much left to do and so many people she hadn’t met. But her life was almost over. Looking at Mr. Adrian, I saw my sister’s past and couldn’t help but feel soft-hearted.”
On the video call, Charles Yin wore a crisp suit—he’d just finished an important meeting and squeezed in time to chat with her.
“It is pretty sad. But there are so many sad stories out there—can you really help them all? Just show a little kindness when you can.” Charles Yin unbuttoned his collar and complained to Cecilia about his cousin: “I came over to clean up after him, and I’m honestly impressed. So many messes, and my uncle actually let him handle it alone? Without me, my cousin wouldn’t finish in three months! And he’s newly married to Molly, but they sent him away for such a long business trip. That’s just cruel!”
Cecilia chuckled, “The troubles of being an heir!”
“Exactly! That’s why we need Ethan Yin to take over the family company soon—then we can finally relax.” Charles Yin sounded delighted.
Cecilia burst out laughing, “If Ethan heard you, he’d definitely cry! He’s still howling over at Hans’s Training Base!”
“Let him howl!” Charles Yin gritted his teeth. “They make a racket in front of me every day—those little brats need a good lesson! Where do they get all that energy?”
“Look who’s talking!” Cecilia shot him a look. “Grandma told me you were no different from Ethan Yin when you were a kid!”
Charles Yin laughed awkwardly, “If I don’t remember it, it never happened.”
Just then, Alex came over with some papers for him to sign, so Charles reluctantly said to Cecilia, “Gotta run—another meeting. I’ll call you later.”
“Got it, go handle your work.” Cecilia replied, “Have Alex watch your schedule—don’t stay up too late!”
“Yes, ma’am!” Charles Yin replied with a smile.
After hanging up, Cecilia saw Molly Yun still in the bathroom on a call with Eric Jiang—clearly, they had plenty to talk about.
Two days later, Cecilia and Molly received a formal invitation from Mr. Adrian and brought gifts to the Yin Family Villa.
After two days of tidying and decorating, the villa finally felt warm and lived-in.
The property management company had sent over maids and workers, and the place was spotless.
Mr. Adrian wore a soft gray-and-white silk shirt and white silk trousers, greeting them personally at the door.
“Mr. Adrian, you look well today.” Cecilia handed her gift to the maid behind Mr. Adrian and smiled in greeting.
“I suppose it’s true—happy events make people glow.” Mr. Adrian smiled, his gaze softening as he looked at Molly Yun.
Molly Yun blinked, feeling like Mr. Adrian’s look held something she couldn’t quite put into words.
Afraid she was overthinking it, she didn’t dare dwell on it.
Maybe it’s because I saved him twice—he’s grown a little dependent on me.
That must be it, right?
Molly Yun thought to herself.
“Come on in,” Mr. Adrian welcomed them inside. “I don’t have many friends here, so it’s a rare treat to share a drink. I didn’t prepare much wine, and my health means I can’t drink much anyway—hope you don’t mind.”
“Not at all, we rarely drink either.” Molly Yun smiled. “Oh, this champagne is excellent—I remember seeing it at the Exhibition Hall.”
“Glad you like it.” Mr. Adrian invited them to sit in the living room. “Yun Family Reserve Tea is famous, so I won’t try to compete. This one’s from my hometown—maybe not as good as yours, but it’s still pretty nice. Want to try?”
“Sure.” Molly Yun nodded with a smile.
Cecilia glanced around the villa, noticing the lighting was a bit off. She stood up and asked, “Mind if I look around?”
“Of course, go ahead.” Mr. Adrian smiled warmly at Cecilia. “If you spot anything wrong, please let me know.”
Cecilia didn’t stand on ceremony, checking the angles and lighting, and suggested to the maids to swap some curtains or add brighter screens.
Soon, only Molly Yun and Mr. Adrian were left in the living room.
Molly sipped her tea and nodded, “This tea is quite good.”
“I’m hardly an expert.” Mr. Adrian smiled at Molly. “Just yesterday, I heard about you two from the property management department manager. I had no idea your backgrounds were so impressive.”
As he spoke, Mr. Adrian seemed to remember something and looked a bit uneasy. “You don’t mind that I asked around about you, do you? I just… really wanted to know more about you.”

“It’s fine.” Molly Yun shook her head. She and Cecilia’s identities weren’t exactly secret—anyone in N City could find out with a little asking.
“Glad to hear it.” Mr. Adrian quickly brightened and stood up. “I’ll go check on the stew in the kitchen…”
He stood up too fast, and the room spun—he nearly collapsed.
Molly Yun reacted instantly, grabbing hold of Mr. Adrian.
But Mr. Adrian was heavier than Molly expected, and they both tumbled onto the sofa together.
