Joyce Du frowned. She knew she ought to curry favor with Roxy Shangguan, but at this moment, she couldn’t help feeling a bit dissatisfied with her. She glanced once more at Quentin Hua before turning and leaving.
Sylas Ren watched Joyce Du’s departing figure, his smile full of meaning. “This Miss Du is certainly more promising than the Hua Family’s people.” He turned to Quentin Hua and Roxy Shangguan, grinning, “Little devil, you’re in trouble!” The way Joyce Du looked at Quentin Hua was definitely not ordinary!
“Little devil?” Roxy Shangguan looked at him, her smile sweet as ever. Yet Sylas Ren felt a chill run down his back. He forced a laugh, “I’m full now, I’ll go get busy!”
Watching Sylas Ren slip away as if escaping, Roxy Shangguan curled her lips. Truly spineless!
“Lotus Sect Master…”
A young servant entered, holding an invitation in his hand. Because Charles Hua didn’t acknowledge Quentin Hua as his son, he naturally wouldn’t call him ‘Young Master.’ Yet, due to Quentin Hua’s identity as the Lotus Sect Master, these maids and servants dared not be disrespectful and maintained a respectful attitude.
“This is an invitation sent by Hall Master Raymond Lei.” At the mention of Raymond Lei, the servant was visibly afraid.
During the martial arts contest for marriage, Raymond Lei had been ruthlessly fierce; the person who fought him probably ended up crippled.
Quentin Hua took the invitation and glanced at it, his posture lazy and his expression unchanged except for a slight raise of his brow. Clearly, he didn’t take Raymond Lei seriously at all.
He tossed the invitation aside casually, a faint smile on his lips. Since the man was so enthusiastic, Quentin supposed he ought to show some courtesy in return.
Quentin Hua wanted to take Roxy Shangguan along to meet Raymond Lei, but Roxy suddenly said, “I’m not going.”
“Hmm?” Quentin Hua looked down at her, frowning slightly.
Roxy Shangguan planted a kiss on his face and said, “I’m just a child—children shouldn’t run around!” Her expression was pure and innocent.
Quentin Hua raised his eyebrows, amused, and shook his head. He set her down, saying, “Then I’ll go by myself.” He pinched her little face and, seeing her mischievous look, warned worriedly, “Don’t let anyone bully you.”
The underlying message was that she needn’t worry about his feelings; if the Hua Family dared do anything, she shouldn’t hold back. Although he knew Roxy Shangguan was staying behind to stir up trouble with the Hua Family.
“Mm.” Roxy Shangguan nodded, pushing him toward the door. “Go on, hurry!”
Sunrise Tavern, the largest restaurant in Sunflower Town, was where Raymond Lei had arranged the meeting.
At this moment, Raymond Lei was feeling uneasy. He had originally thought the Hua Family would be easy to bully, but he never expected they’d be connected to the Lotus Sect. Now Quentin Hua was living in the Hua Mansion, and Raymond Lei wondered if the Lotus Sect would come after him. His Iron Sand Hall was somewhat notorious in the demonic circles, but compared to the Lotus Sect, they were worlds apart.
The Lotus Sect Master was famous for his beauty throughout the martial world, and the Lotus Sect had always been quiet and unambitious. Still, Raymond Lei could never forget the Sect Master’s methods—those were almost on par with the Ghostmaster. If he weren’t always so quiet, people wouldn’t just know him for his looks, but would fear him as much as the Ghostmaster.
Back then, the Lawson Society was second only to the Rakshasa Palace. The society’s master, overcome with desire, tried to take advantage of the Lotus Sect Master and even plotted to drug him. In a rage, the Lotus Sect Master massacred the Lawson Society—overnight, the fourth-ranked force of the demonic path was wiped out. The master was crippled and thrown to a cruel man who favored pretty boys, and it’s said he died not long after from torture.
This made it clear that the Lotus Sect simply chose not to compete, not that it lacked the ability. The sect’s power was in no way inferior to the fourth-ranked Lawson Society, and its master was not just a pretty face—he had real skill!
Since then, no one dared provoke the Lotus Sect lightly. The sect remained quiet, and people almost forgot Quentin Hua was a force to be reckoned with. But Raymond Lei hadn’t forgotten—he didn’t want to end up like the Lawson Society.
Just as he was trembling with fear, a voice announced from outside, “Hall Master, the Lotus Sect Master has arrived.”
“Quick, invite him in!” Raymond Lei hurriedly stood up and personally went to the door to greet him.
Even though he was old enough to be Quentin Hua’s grandfather, he didn’t dare show any disrespect.
Quentin Hua wore a smile that could enchant anyone as he strolled lazily upstairs. Seeing Raymond Lei, his smile deepened. “Hall Master Lei, you’re as impressive as ever!”
Raymond Lei was momentarily dazzled by his otherworldly appearance but quickly regained his composure. He couldn’t afford to be careless now—he was already worried Quentin Hua would hold him responsible for the Hua Family’s troubles. If he angered Quentin Hua, he’d be doomed!
Still, he hadn’t expected Quentin Hua to be so low-key. Normally, Quentin Hua’s arrival would be accompanied by beauties and a shower of flower petals.
His mind raced, but his words were exceedingly polite: “Lotus Sect Master, you flatter me. I’m ashamed. You are the true hero among the young—few can compare! It’s a blessing for the demonic path!”
“Heh heh…” A low, lazy, magnetic laugh echoed, making those downstairs who’d been staring up feel a flutter in their hearts.
Raymond Lei couldn’t help feeling vexed—this man was even more alluring than a woman. Though he showed no trace of femininity, his stunning looks and captivating aura charmed everyone, regardless of gender. Still, remembering his methods, Raymond Lei dared not entertain any improper thoughts.
Just then, Quentin Hua laughed and said, “Hall Master Lei, aren’t you afraid the Ghostmaster will give you trouble for saying that?” The glance he cast was bewitching yet full of meaning.
Raymond Lei’s heart skipped a beat. Though the Ghostmaster hadn’t appeared for a long time, he dared not show any disrespect. If he pleased Quentin Hua but offended the Ghostmaster, the consequences would be dire!
Still, he’d said ‘few can compare,’ not ‘none can compare!’
Thinking it over, he replied cautiously, “The Ghostmaster is the supreme leader of our demonic path—he wouldn’t lower himself to argue with someone like me. Besides, you and the Ghostmaster have always been close. Praising you, Lotus Sect Master, surely wouldn’t offend him.”
