Break his limbs, kill him outright, cripple him and feed him to the dogs!
Shawn Shi spoke in a flat tone. Even as he listed out these punishments, his voice and expression didn’t change a bit. To everyone watching, his demeanor sent a chill straight to their hearts.
Old Man Zhong, still gripped by Shawn Shi, heard this and instantly wet himself, face twisting in terror. He wailed, "No, please, no! I’ve already lost a leg—if you take my limbs too, how am I supposed to live?"
"I just want to live a few more years! And I stink—dogs wouldn’t even want to eat me!" Old Man Zhong howled, then turned to Lily Zhong, shouting, "Shuiyu! Shuiyu! Say something!"
"I’m still your father—I raised you!"
Old Man Zhong kept wailing, but Shawn Shi just gripped his collar, unmoving as a mountain.
Hearing her father’s words, Lily Zhong bit her lip, heart pounding with anxiety.
Old Man Zhong had always been cruel and selfish to her, but when it came to being cruel in return, Lily Zhong just couldn’t do it—her heart was too soft.
She glanced at Evan Lin, completely at a loss.
Evan Lin leaned back in his chair, looked at Old Man Zhong, and smiled. "Old man, I remember last time at Imperial Grand, we met—and I warned you not to cause any more trouble, didn’t I?"
Old Man Zhong looked at Evan Lin, his face twisted in misery. "I won’t dare anymore! I swear there won’t be a next time! I’ll never bother Shuiyu again!"
As Old Man Zhong begged, he continued to wet himself. Shawn Shi frowned, wrinkling his nose at the stench—thoroughly disgusted.
"By rights, a scumbag like you deserves to be chopped up and fed to the dogs, or just dumped at the bottom of the lake," Evan Lin mused, as if considering it seriously.
Hearing this, Old Man Zhong’s fear grew so intense he nearly lost control completely, soaking his underwear. He looked at Evan Lin, wailing, "Please, no! Just give me one more chance, one last chance! I promise I won’t do it again!"
"Just pretend I’m a fart and let me go, please!"
Seeing that Evan Lin wasn’t moved, Old Man Zhong quickly added, "How about I kowtow to you? Or—I could marry Shuiyu to you!"
At those words, Lily Zhong’s expression changed and she nearly jumped to her feet in anger.
He was still treating her like she wasn’t even a person!
Evan Lin sneered. "So you do have some survival instinct, huh? Fine, I won’t kill you, or cripple you, or let anyone here lay a finger on you. In fact, I’ll even give you a job."
At this point, Evan Lin paused for effect.
Boss Han, Hank, and all the guests who hadn’t dared speak up felt a strange sense rising in their hearts.
To them, the teenager sitting there was no longer the same kid they’d seen before. Now, he seemed unfathomable—impossible to read or understand.
Lily Zhong was stunned by Evan’s words, while Old Man Zhong was even more dumbfounded—then suddenly thrilled, nodding frantically. "Yes, yes! Anything’s fine, as long as you don’t beat me—anything’s fine!"
"Whatever it is, just don’t hit me—I’ll take it!"
Old Man Zhong grinned, feeling like he’d just escaped the jaws of death and seen the light again.
"So, what’s the job? Does it pay well?"
Even though he was scared out of his wits, as soon as money came up, Old Man Zhong couldn’t help getting excited.
He was the classic shameless type who never learned his lesson no matter how many times he got beaten.
"The salary will be ten thousand yuan a month."
Evan Lin spoke calmly.
"Ten thousand!"
"Holy crap, that much?!"
"That kid must be some rich young master! Otherwise, how could he hire so many top fighters—and just throw out a ten-thousand-yuan job for Old Man Zhong like it’s nothing?"
The young men’s faces changed dramatically, and quite a few of them looked at Old Man Zhong with envy.
In Clearstream County, most people only make three or four thousand a month. Now Old Man Zhong was getting ten thousand—almost three or four months’ wages in one go!
"Ten thousand!" Old Man Zhong’s eyes lit up, so happy he nearly fainted. He nodded furiously. "I’ll do it! I’ll do it! I’ll do it!"
He was terrified Evan Lin might change his mind.
Lily Zhong panicked when she heard this. "Don’t give him any job!"
She didn’t understand Evan Lin’s reasoning and didn’t want to cause him more trouble. She knew exactly what kind of person her father was.
"It’s just a small thing."
Evan Lin gave Lily Zhong a reassuring look, then turned his head slightly and spoke calmly: "Big Tank, how many toilets are there across your venues?"
"Just in Minghai, there are about three hundred. If you count Whitewood too, it’s around four hundred in total."
Big Tank was stunned by the question at first, but quickly did a mental count and gave an estimate.
Three or four hundred toilets—just how many venues did that mean?
Hank and Boss Han’s faces both changed. When they looked at Evan Lin, there was now even more fear and unease in their eyes.
"Alright, later you’ll take him to get familiar with the job. Assign two people to escort him at all times—his sole responsibility is to clean toilets. Every toilet must be spotless, clean enough that even the water in the bowl is drinkable."
Evan Lin’s tone was calm: "The old man’s not young anymore, so get a wheelchair ready. If he can’t walk, just push him. He has to clean at least fifteen toilets a day and cycle through all of them every twenty days. If there aren’t enough, send him to public restrooms. If he doesn’t clean them properly, make him drink the toilet water. Got it?"
"Yes, I’ll arrange it right away when we get back!"
Big Tank immediately agreed.
Old Man Zhong’s face fell. He’d thought it was some cushy job—after all, the salary was ten thousand a month! He never imagined it’d be cleaning toilets!
"One more thing: the ten thousand yuan salary each month goes onto a card held by Lily Zhong. His food and lodging are covered, but he’s not allowed to touch any cash or bank cards. If he does, cut off his hands!"
As Evan Lin said this last line, his eyes suddenly went cold and a wave of killing intent swept over the room. Old Man Zhong was so terrified he started wetting himself again, his face ashen, too scared to even protest.
Lily Zhong’s heart skipped a beat when she heard Evan Lin’s words.
Her father had emptied all her savings and left her in debt to her colleagues. She knew Evan Lin’s arrangement was to help her out, and also to spare her feelings.
A strange feeling welled up inside Lily Zhong. She looked at Evan Lin beside her—his face still as youthful as when he’d sat in her classroom yesterday—and it all felt like a dream.
"Now that the old man’s business is settled, what about the rest of you? Anything you want to say?"
