Elder Hubert Hu’s face darkened when Evan Yang shot him down so fast. A flicker of anger burst out, and he cursed to himself, “I came all the way here to invite you with sincerity, and you dare turn me down like this?”
Evan Yang naturally sensed that flicker of anger, but he didn’t say much, simply waiting for Elder Hu’s response.
Elder Hu said, "We'll discuss joining the sect in detail later. As for your question, you may ask."
Evan picked up on that trace of anger, but stayed on high alert and didn’t bother to say more, just waiting for Elder Hu’s next move.
"Senior, do you know if there’s a teleportation array to Blaze Mountain on Flowcloud Star?" Evan asked.
Elder Hu frowned. "Why are you asking about that?"
"I’m just curious about a few places. You know I don’t have much time left—I want to see more of the world before I’m gone," Evan replied with a wry smile.
"I’ve heard of Blaze Mountain, but as for the teleportation array? No clue. Every sect and clan keeps their teleportation arrays hidden—no one wants outsiders poking around. You might as well drop it; you won’t dig up anything," Elder Hu said bluntly.
Evan felt a bit helpless hearing this, but he still put on a smile and said, "Alright, forget it."
Elder Hu didn’t say much, but in his head he was already scheming—either reel Evan into Shadow Soul Sect, or just rip out his memories.
Evan flicked his hand, and Liam Li, who’d been locked up tight, coughed a few times and managed to sit up.
"Alright, the matter’s settled. I have nothing more to do here," Evan said, not wanting to linger in such a dangerous place.
"You really won’t consider joining us?" Elder Hu asked.
Evan smiled slightly. "No, thanks."
Evan turned to leave, but Elder Hu let out a cold snort. "I invited you nicely, and you refuse? Then you’re not leaving this place."
A crushing aura slammed down, locking Evan in place—he couldn’t move a muscle.
"Senior, what is the meaning of this?" Evan asked.
"It’s simple—you’ve got two choices: join us, or let me search your memories." Elder Hu snorted. He’d held back his anger to invite Evan, but now he let it all explode.
"Senior, I actually thought you were a gentleman," Evan said, looking at Elder Hu.
"A gentleman? Hah, you give me too much credit, kid. Pick—those are your two roads," Elder Hu replied.
Evan ignored him. The water around him was already turning into thick steam, but Elder Hu had no clue what tricks Evan was playing inside. All he cared about was squeezing Evan down until he broke.
But things never go as planned. Just as Elder Hu kept pouring on the water, Evan’s flames vanished—and even more jaw-dropping, so did Evan himself.
As Evan moved, his own qi gradually strengthened. By the time he was in the room, Elder Hu still thought Evan was just an eighth-tier Heavenly-Immortal.
“Damn it, what the hell just happened?” Elder Hu shouted, blasting his aura in all directions. The place was still empty—no sign of Evan at all.
"Aren’t you afraid I’ll shout and let everyone know what kind of people Shadow Soul Sect really are?" Evan snorted. "Hah, ridiculous. Even if you shout, it won’t matter. The walls here are specially built—no one outside can hear a thing. Whatever I do, nobody will know," Elder Hu sneered.
"So you’re determined to search my memories," Evan said coldly.
"That’s right. Since you didn’t choose the first option, I’ll have to go with the second," Elder Hu snorted. As he finished, a stream of black qi rushed straight at Evan.
Evan used his old method to wrap up the black qi. Elder Hu sneered, "Mine is much stronger than that kid’s—don’t think you can escape!"
In the end, Elder Hu gave a cold snort. "Let’s go—head to the Chu Family."
At that moment, Evan was burrowed deep underground. He could hear some of the anxious voices above, and when their shouts reached him, he snickered, "Trying to catch me? Keep dreaming. As for the Chu Family, I’m not heading back—you won’t be able to touch me."
Evan sent a message to Hannah Nangong, instructing her to follow his directions.
At first, Hannah Nangong was stunned by the message, but relaxed once she knew Evan was safe. She then explained the situation to Chase Chu.
"Hmph!" Evan snorted coldly, expelling the black qi from his body.
"Damn it, watch this!" Elder Hu couldn’t understand how Evan’s qi was stronger than his own. All he wanted now was to break free and attack Evan.
Hannah Nangong nodded and followed Chase Chu outside. Many Chu Family members were blocking the three from Shadow Soul Sect.
Elder Hu launched a frenzied attack. With one grab, bright friction marks appeared in space.
Evan was startled—this kind of distant killing was truly dangerous. He hurried to resist, but clearly his strength was lacking.
Seeing that Evan’s only unusual trait was his qi, Elder Hu snorted and a thin stream appeared in front of Evan.
"Water? Then I’ll break it with fire!" Evan snorted, unleashing flames.
Seeing Evan use fire, Elder Hu sneered, "Still trying to use fire? Ridiculous. Even with half my strength, I can suppress you. I don’t know why outsiders hype you up so much!"
Evan sent a message to Hannah Nangong, instructing her to follow his directions.
At first, Hannah Nangong was stunned by the message, but relaxed once she knew Evan was safe. She then explained the situation to Chase Chu.
"?" Elder Hu was shocked. He quickly withdrew the water and found the room empty—Evan was nowhere to be seen.
"Damn it, what’s going on here?" Elder Hu exclaimed, frantically unleashing his aura to attack the surroundings, but nothing seemed amiss.
Hannah Nangong nodded and followed Chase Chu outside. Many Chu Family members were blocking the three from Shadow Soul Sect.
"See anyone?" The others had no idea what Elder Hu meant.
After realizing they knew nothing, Elder Hu explained what happened. When they heard Evan had vanished into thin air, everyone was stunned.
Irrelevant system notice—skip this line as it is not part of the novel.
In the end, Elder Hu snorted coldly, "To the Chu Family."
At that moment, Evan was underground. He could hear some of the voices above, and when he heard their anxious shouts, he chuckled, "Trying to catch me? Dream on. As for the Chu Family, I won’t go back—you won’t be able to touch me."
Evan sent a message to Yanxia Nangong, instructing her to follow his directions.
At first, Yanxia Nangong was stunned by the message, but relaxed once she knew Evan was safe. She then explained the situation to Chase Chu.
Elder Hu launched a frenzied attack. With a single grab, bright streaks of friction tore through the air.
"Let’s go take a look," Chase Chu said.
Yanxia Nangong nodded and followed Chase Chu outside. Many Chu Family members were blocking the three from Shadow Soul Sect.
Leading them, of course, was Elder Hu. He frowned and said, "I’m looking for Evan Yang."
"Didn’t you just look for him? Why are you back again?" Chase Chu asked, confused.
"That was then, this is now!" Elder Hu replied angrily.
"Everyone saw him leave with you. You didn’t kill him, did you?" Chase Chu suddenly exclaimed.
Chase Yi, who didn’t know what happened, heard that Shadow Soul Sect had dealt with Evan and angrily shouted, "You didn’t really kill my master, did you?"
