Breaking the Barrier Entrance

Evan Chu was fully immersed in a state of selfless focus, a subtle sensation that was hard to describe. Suddenly, faint ripples appeared before him.

The location was exactly five meters in front of him. The range of the disturbance wasn’t large—just about a meter in diameter. Strictly speaking, it wasn’t even a true ripple, but rather, some air molecules were jumping around more violently than usual.

A flash of joy crossed Evan Chu’s face as he immediately opened his eyes and called out to Goldwing, “Old Gold, I’ve found the exact location of the barrier entrance. Try attacking five meters directly in front of you—use your strongest strike.”

Goldwing looked at Evan Chu in utter confusion, having no idea what he was talking about. There was absolutely nothing five meters in front of him—the mountain wall was at least ten meters away. He wondered if Evan had made a mistake.

“Boss, there’s nothing there at all—how am I supposed to attack it?” Goldwing asked, still puzzled.

“You think the barrier entrance is on the mountain wall? It’s right here in the air. Just attack it—if you feel a rebound force, then you’ve hit it,” Evan Chu explained.

Goldwing glanced at Evan Chu, half-believing, half-doubting, then quickly threw a punch at the spot Evan had indicated.

Evan Chu clearly saw a layer of golden light on Goldwing’s fist. As the punch flew forward, the air actually made a faint crackling sound—caused by the speed of the fist and the friction between its stellar power and the molecules in the space.

After Goldwing unleashed his punch, there was no thunderous boom, nor any rebound force like Evan had described. It was as if the punch had vanished into thin air—no impact, no feedback, just wasted effort.

“Boss, nothing happened. If I’d punched the mountain wall with this, I’d have smashed half of it down, but here there’s just nothing to hit. Are you sure you’ve got the right spot?” Goldwing said in frustration. This kind of wasted effort was hard to accept.

Evan Chu was puzzled too. Why hadn’t there been any reaction? Could he have misjudged it? That shouldn’t be possible—there was only that one spot with any noticeable ripple.

“Hold on, let me check again!” Evan Chu said, unsure how to explain it to Goldwing.

“Luna, why isn’t there any reaction? Did I get it wrong?” Evan asked inwardly. He’d never encountered anything this bizarre before—an invisible barrier was something he’d only heard about in stories.

“Trust your instincts. If you believe what your heart feels, you won’t be wrong. Breaking open this barrier entrance isn’t something that can be done in one go. Have that old bird attack dozens of times—maybe you’ll get the result you want,” Luna replied.

With Luna’s answer, Evan Chu’s frustration vanished. “Old Gold, this is the spot. The barrier entrance isn’t something you can break open in one hit. Think about how long it took you all to smash it last time. Keep at it—I believe you can do it.”

Goldwing looked at Evan Chu, still unsure. “Really? I’ll try attacking a few more times.”

“Just keep hitting it—something’s bound to change. Trust me, I know what I’m talking about! (Believe in Brother Chun, gain eternal life—haha!)” Evan Chu laughed.

So Goldwing kept swinging his fists. After each punch, he glanced at Evan Chu, sometimes even shaking his head as if to say, ‘Still nothing. You must’ve guessed wrong. You’re wasting my stellar power here.’

Evan Chu could only smile helplessly. Right now, he had no other choice but to wait and hope that after enough attacks, something miraculous would happen.

By the time Goldwing had thrown his twentieth punch, he felt like half his stellar power was gone. Frustrated, he said, “Boss, this isn’t working. Even if I burn through all my stellar power, I still can’t break open this barrier entrance you’re talking about.”

“Alright, take a break. Let me try attacking it!” Evan Chu didn’t want Goldwing to overexert himself—it made him feel guilty.

Evan Chu’s strongest attack was his plain, unremarkable sword strike—but it consumed too much Chaos Qi. Right now, the only move he could use was the Heart-Sword technique he’d just mastered, since it drained less energy.

If he could merge the two Heart-Swords into one, the power should be even greater. The idea flashed through his mind.

Closing his eyes, Evan Chu slowly extended both hands. Inside his Earth Star Pellet, Chaos Qi began to surge wildly, channeling into his fingertips.

The sword is born from the heart; the heart guides the sword. Splitting his mind in two, Evan Chu suddenly opened his eyes. Both hands simultaneously unleashed Heart-Sword, sending two invisible sword-qi beams shooting toward the air five meters ahead.

Evan Chu could clearly feel that the two strands of sword-qi hadn’t merged—they were separated by a full foot. This surprised him; he’d thought it would be easy, but it turned out to be much harder than expected.

His Heart-Sword still vanished without a trace. Goldwing laughed, “Told you, Boss. You must’ve got it wrong.”

“Let me try again!” Evan Chu insisted. Trusting Luna and his own senses, he was sure he hadn’t misjudged.

Once more, he guided the sword with his heart, splitting his mind in two and unleashing Heart-Sword. This time, the distance between the two sword-qi beams was noticeably closer.

This time, Evan Chu felt his attack hit something solid. There was no sound, but a massive rebound force blasted him back several steps before he could steady himself.

“It’s working!” was Evan Chu’s first reaction. The barrier entrance was right here.

Goldwing saw Evan Chu suddenly stagger backward for no reason and immediately asked, “Boss, why’d you step back?”

Evan Chu smiled at him. “Old Gold, hit it one more time—just once. If nothing happens this time, we’ll give up, okay?”

“Alright, you said it!” Goldwing replied, then gathered his stellar power and punched out quickly.

Evan Chu felt his chest churn with blood. "Damn! That rebound force is no joke. Old Gold, now it’s your turn—let’s see if you’ll keep talking big."

Evan Chu stepped aside, ready to watch Goldwing’s performance. Goldwing swung his fist and was about to say something when a huge rebound force blasted him back dozens of steps before he could stop himself.

Staring in shock at the spot he’d just attacked, Goldwing exclaimed, “Boss, there’s a reaction! That rebound force is so strong—I almost got hurt!”

Evan Chu laughed at Goldwing’s miserable look. “See? I told you it was here. You didn’t believe me, but now you do! The rebound force at the barrier entrance is way too strong, though. How are we supposed to break through?”

“Yeah, this is a real headache. If we’re not careful, we’ll both get hurt,” Goldwing replied.

Evan Chu frowned in thought, when suddenly Luna’s voice appeared: “Give me the Bloodsoul Fruit that Heaven Ape gave you—I have a solution…”
