At this moment, the energy barrier surrounding Evan Chu was rapidly thinning under the assault of the purple flames. This was even with him constantly channeling Chaos Immortal Force into it—if he stopped, it wouldn’t last more than a few breaths. It was clear just how terrifyingly powerful this purple fire was.
Still, Evan could sense the true destructive power of the flames. Thanks to his mastery over fire, he was able to absorb them—these purple flames were a tier above the black flames, or rather, above ordinary Heavenfire, and belonged to the realm of true divine fire.
The energy barrier was quickly destroyed by the purple flames, engulfing Evan in an instant. However, with Fireshift active, even though he couldn’t merge into these purple flames, they still couldn’t truly harm him.
He cautiously began trying to absorb the purple flames, knowing that if he could fully assimilate them, his Fireshift would grow much stronger. Maybe he wouldn’t even need to absorb the energy from the Sunstones to break through to the fourth layer of Fireshift.
It was a nice thought, but actually breaking through to the fourth layer wasn’t that easy. Even if Evan absorbed the purple flames ten more times, it still might not be enough. To reach the fourth layer, he needed real divine fire—and not just any, but the very best, the kind that only existed in the God Realm.
Slowly, the purple flames were drawn into his body, and he didn’t feel any discomfort. The fire pattern on his Element Core Pearl deepened noticeably—proof of his steady growth in strength.
Soon, he had finished absorbing all the purple flames, though a thin sheen of sweat appeared on Evan’s face. He’d been so careful the whole time that he couldn’t help but be a little tense.
The Golden Crow Protector, seeing Evan absorb his lifebound Sunfire, was left utterly frustrated. That Sunfire could only be used three times in his life, and never consecutively—he’d have to wait years, even decades, before he could use it again.
He’d never dreamed anyone could just absorb his lifebound Sunfire directly. Who was this guy, anyway? How could he have such terrifying strength? Every move he made was beyond belief, and for a moment, the Protector was completely stunned.
Evan looked at the massive Golden Crow not far ahead and grinned: "Got any more? It tastes pretty good—I wouldn’t mind another round. Don’t be so stingy!"
The Golden Crow Protector nearly exploded with rage at Evan’s words. "Who the hell are you? How could you possibly absorb my lifebound Sunfire? Why have you come to the Golden Crow clan?"
The same words, spoken by different people, have wildly different effects. Right now, both the Golden Crow Protector and the two injured Golden Crows on the ground saw Evan as a monster—a monster unlike anything they’d ever heard of.
Suddenly, the Golden Crow Protector shouted, "Go! Report to the king at once—this is a disaster for the Golden Crow clan!"
The two injured Golden Crows were just ordinary patrol guards. Hearing the Protector’s words, they felt like survivors of a disaster and instantly transformed into their true forms, racing toward the Golden Crow clan’s holy hall, terrified that Evan would kill them the very next second.
Evan didn’t stop them—he wanted the Golden Crow King to show up. Since things had already come this far, he wasn’t going to worry about the consequences. If soldiers come, he’ll meet them; if water comes, he’ll block it. As long as he could get the Sunstones, he wouldn’t hesitate to wipe out the entire Golden Crow clan. After all, this was the Netherworld, not the Immortal Realm—it had nothing to do with him.
The Golden Crow Protector was feeling pretty bitter now. Even his strongest purple flames couldn’t hurt this guy. All he could do was stall for time and wait for the Golden Crow King to arrive.
Evan glanced at the Golden Crow Protector and laughed, "Waiting for backup, huh? Relax, I don’t plan on killing you just yet. But you do need to answer a few of my questions—otherwise, your death is next. Don’t think I’m joking."
The Golden Crow Protector replied, "What do you want to ask? If it’s about the clan’s secrets, forget it. I want to live, but as a Golden Crow I still have my pride and dignity."
"It’s nothing major. I just want to know how many Sunstones your Golden Crow clan has, and where they are. How do I get them?" Evan asked bluntly. He knew the Protector could guess exactly what he was after.
"Sunstones are our clan’s sacred treasures. I don’t even know how many there are, but they only exist on the king himself. If you want one, you’ll have to take it from the Golden Crow King. Once the king arrives, you’re dead for sure—just wait and see." the Protector said.
"The Golden Crow King? Is he really that strong? Or is he just all talk? I’d love to see if his lifebound Sunfire is the same as yours. If it is, that would be a huge tonic for me—the more, the better! Hahaha!" Evan laughed loudly.
Meanwhile, the Golden Crow who’d come with the Protector earlier had already returned to the main hall, which was now badly damaged. He reported everything about Evan to the Golden Crow King, who immediately flew into a rage.
"A mere human dares to cause trouble in the Golden Crow clan, and even dares to kill my people? He really thinks we’re easy prey! Today, I’ll make sure he never returns—I’ll let him taste my Sunfire!" the king roared.
He flashed forward, speeding toward Evan and the Protector. On the way, he ran into the two injured Golden Crows, who added fuel to the fire with their own exaggerated tale of Evan’s exploits, leaving the king even more shocked.
But as the king of the clan, he had to maintain his dignity. Shrinking back in the face of a strong enemy would be unworthy of a king. "Come on, let’s go meet him. Let’s see if he really has three heads and six arms, and can even absorb lifebound Sunfire."
Meanwhile, Evan was quietly checking the changes inside his body. Absorbing so much fire energy was a rare opportunity, especially the lifebound Sunfire from the Golden Crow Protector.
Soon, the Golden Crow King appeared in the sky with several others. His massive wings whipped up fierce gales toward Evan, the wind charged with dense fire-element energy. An ordinary person caught in it would be burned to ashes on the spot.
Stabilizing himself, the Golden Crow King glared at Evan and demanded, "Human, why have you trespassed on the Golden Crow clan, destroyed our fire-tree forest, damaged my hall, and even killed my people? Today, you must die here."
"You’re the Golden Crow King, right? Honestly, I didn’t come here looking for trouble with your clan. But you guys were way too arrogant—trying to kill me the moment I showed up. Of course I fought back, and who knew your people were so weak? I accidentally destroyed your fire trees without even trying.
Honestly, I only came here for a few Sunstones. That’s all I want. Your people said only you have them, so I trust you won’t refuse, right?" Evan said.
"Like hell I will!" The Golden Crow King was infuriated by Evan’s words, and a torrent of flame erupted from his mouth, blasting toward Evan...
