Helen Jiang quickly got herself ready and went out to meet Sylvia Ran.
Sylvia Ran stood in front of the car. When she saw Helen Jiang coming out, she took the initiative to open the car door for her.
Helen Jiang glanced at the car behind Sylvia Ran, her brows furrowing slightly.
If she remembered correctly, this sports car was given by Madam Yin to Ethan Yin. How did it end up in Sylvia Ran's hands?
"Get in," Sylvia Ran said, knowing exactly what Helen Jiang was guessing, but she didn't plan to explain.
Helen Jiang got in the car, and Sylvia Ran quickly drove away from the house.
Eric Jiang stood by the window, taking in the scene below. With a swipe of his finger, he snapped a photo and, after some thought, sent it to Cecilia Gu.
Cecilia Gu was having tea with Rona Muir when she received the photo on her phone.
Rona Muir noticed Cecilia Gu's hand pause and couldn't help but ask, "What happened?"
"I didn't expect those two to end up hanging out together," Cecilia Gu said, showing the photo to Rona Muir. Rona Muir scoffed, "Birds of a feather flock together."
Cecilia Gu casually tossed her phone aside, not planning to pay any attention to it.
"So, are things settled between you and Sean Kerr?" Cecilia Gu asked with a smile.
Rona Muir shook her head. "How could it be that easy? Too much has happened before, and right now, I just don't want to think about it. My resignation was rejected by the board, so I still have to be his assistant!"
Cecilia Gu couldn't help but laugh. "Honestly, Sean Kerr may be stubborn and sometimes unreasonable, but when it comes to protecting his own, he really goes all out!"
"Oh? Are you going to play mediator for him now?" Rona Muir looked up at Cecilia Gu. "You're on my side, so don't you dare speak for him!"
"Alright, alright, I'll speak for you!" Cecilia Gu grinned. "But whatever you decide, I'll support you!"
"That's more like it." Rona Muir clinked cups with Cecilia Gu, satisfied, and took a sip of tea.
"Where are you taking me?" Helen Jiang frowned at Sylvia Ran.
To be honest, Helen Jiang looked down on Sylvia Ran.
The Ran Family that Sylvia Ran belonged to had fallen apart in Australia years ago, completely dropping out of the ranks of prominent families.
Meanwhile, the Jiang family had always been at its peak, the leading textile enterprise in the region. Their fabrics were exported all over the world, and their confidence was unmatched.
Although Jiang Huiyin was an adopted daughter, she still carried the title of Miss Jiang.
That's why Jiang Huiyin looked down on those who had left the ranks of prominent families—or never belonged to one at all.
Like Ran Xiwei and Gu Xixi, for example.
"Of course, we need a quiet place to talk, right?" Ran Xiwei, decked out in the latest Chanel jewelry and perfume, was as trendy as they come.
"Looks like Yin Siyao treats you well," Jiang Huiyin said, her sarcasm obvious as she looked at Ran Xiwei.
Ran Xiwei pretended not to notice. "It's alright. I guess we both get what we need out of it."
Ran Xiwei parked the car in front of a secluded chess and card room. Jiang Huiyin got out with her and walked inside.
As soon as they entered, Ran Xiwei spoke up, "I booked a room. The name's Ran."
The attendant immediately led them to a quiet room by the window.
"You brought me all the way out here, so I guess you have a lot to say to me today!" Jiang Huiyin pulled out a chair and sat down, ignoring Ran Xiwei as she started shuffling a deck of cards.
"I just think, Miss Jiang, there's no need for you to treat me as an enemy," Ran Xiwei said with a gentle smile. "After all, we share the same enemy."
"What enemy do I have?" Jiang Huiyin retorted immediately.
Ran Xiwei just smiled silently and said, "I heard that years ago, the eldest Jiang son met the Yun family's eldest daughter by chance and was instantly smitten, falling hopelessly in love."
Jiang Huiyin's fingers, busy shuffling the cards, suddenly froze!
"Back then, there were plenty of people chasing after Yun Nuo. The eldest Jiang son was just one of them, so not many people knew about it. Coincidentally, I happened to be one of the few. After Yun Nuo died, the eldest Jiang son never had any scandals—his private life and relationships were so clean it was shocking. But after Gu Xixi appeared, all that changed. He started following Gu Xixi's Weibo and paid special attention to her. Am I right, Miss Jiang?" Ran Xiwei knew Jiang Huiyin looked down on her, so she didn't bother with pleasantries and got straight to the point.
Jiang Huiyin's delicate face twisted for a moment.
Not many people knew about this.
How did Ran Xiwei know?
"Miss Jiang, you only noticed that Gu Xixi and Yun Nuo look exactly alike, but have you ever wondered why? Or is it that you simply don't dare to think about it?" Ran Xiwei asked slowly.
Jiang Huiyin's face grew even uglier. "What else do you know?"
A cold glint flashed in Ran Xiwei's eyes as her lips curled into a cold smile. "I may not have hard evidence, but this is just too much of a coincidence."
"What coincidence?" Jiang Huiyin's curiosity was piqued by Ran Xiwei and she couldn't help but ask.
"Back then, Madam Yun gave birth to twins, but they announced to the public that only one child survived." Ran Xiwei glanced at Jiang Huiyin and said softly, "Recently, the Yun family suddenly adopted Gu Xixi as their goddaughter. Don't you think that's strange and a bit of a coincidence?"
"You suspect Gu Xixi is one of the twins? But why would the Yun family do that? It's not like they couldn't afford to raise two kids." Jiang Huiyin scoffed, "Ran Xiwei, you don't need to stir up trouble. You're just jealous of Gu Xixi and want me to help you deal with her, right?"
Ran Xiwei couldn't help but roll her eyes.
She really couldn't expect Jiang Huiyin to be that smart.
"Fine, say it that way—I won't deny it." Ran Xiwei hid her true feelings well. "Yes, just like you, I can't stand Gu Xixi. You hate her because she looks exactly like Yun Nuo. I hate her because she ruined all my plans! Our reasons may be different, but our goal is the same, isn't it?"
"And then?" Jiang Huiyin looked at Ran Xiwei with disdain. "You want me to help you go after Gu Xixi? Why should I help you?"
"Help me?" Ran Xiwei laughed silently. "Why not say you're helping yourself, Miss Jiang?"
"If you think about it, aren't you the one who's more troubled now? I've already cut ties with Yin Sicheng and am now with Yin Siyao. So, Gu Xixi is an obstacle for me, sure, but not as urgent as it is for you. All I need to do is help Yin Siyao secure his place in the Yin family, and as the second son, he won't let me suffer. But you're different, Miss Jiang! If I remember correctly, the eldest Jiang son is almost thirty, right? The Jiang family must be anxious to get him married. Even though your surname is Jiang, you're not their biological daughter. The Jiang parents treat you well, and if you marry into the family, I'm sure they wouldn't object. But if there's a Gu Xixi who looks exactly like Yun Nuo, what's the chance the eldest Jiang son will marry you?"
"Nonsense!" Jiang Huiyin's secrets were suddenly exposed, laid bare in the sunlight. She instantly turned pale and angrily threw the cards at Ran Xiwei's face.
Ran Xiwei tilted her face slightly, dodging the cards Jiang Huiyin threw at her.
She didn't move, just licked the corner of her lip where a card had accidentally cut her, her eyes growing even more venomous.
"Is Miss Jiang angry now?" Ran Xiwei continued calmly. "But what if I told you I could make the eldest Jiang son give up on Gu Xixi? Would you be willing to work with me?"
Jiang Huiyin's chest heaved, her face turning blue as she glared at Ran Xiwei.
The air between them instantly turned stiff.
Neither of them spoke again.
After about ten minutes, Jiang Huiyin finally gave in. "What good idea do you have?"
Ran Xiwei's lips curled slightly. She knew she'd succeeded!
Jiang Huiyin had been spoiled by the Jiang family all her life. On the surface, she looked innocent and cheerful, but deep down, she was ruthless—much more so than Ran Xiwei.
If Jiang Huiyin made a move, Gu Xixi might be in real trouble...
And no one would ever blame Ran Xiwei for it...
"Madam Yin is back in the country now, so of course she'll visit her family. Gu Xixi, as her daughter-in-law, will go with her. Once she's on Jiang turf, you can do whatever you want to her," Ran Xiwei said, only hinting at the plan.
Jiang Huiyin's eyes lit up—she knew exactly what to do now.
Ran Xiwei slowly stood up. "I have an appointment with Yin Siyao, so I'll leave first. We never met today, right?"
Jiang Huiyin shot Ran Xiwei a cold look, then suddenly smiled. "That's right, we never met! I just came here to relax, didn't see any Miss Ran at all."
Ran Xiwei smiled and walked away.
As soon as Ran Xiwei stepped outside, her calm facade vanished, replaced by a stormy expression!
Gu Xixi, you ruined all my plans. Did you really think I'd let you off easy?
Just you wait!
Let's see who gets the last laugh!
After Ran Xiwei left, Jiang Huiyin's disdain drifted out the window as she watched Ran Xiwei leave. She coldly muttered to herself, "Who do you think you are, trying to scheme against me? Still, it's a good plan! Gu Xixi, you look exactly like Yun Nuo—whatever your connection to the Yun family, I don't care! As long as your face gets in my way, I'll make you pay!"
