The poison master was shocked and hurried off to find Patriarch Li and the white-robed man.
When the white-robed man and Patriarch Li returned and heard what happened, they rushed to Liam Li's room and saw Liam lying there, completely motionless.
Patriarch Li and the white-robed man were both anxious. They tried many methods, but nothing worked.
"Damn it, what is going on here?!" Patriarch Li said angrily.
The poison master explained what had happened, but he had no idea what occurred inside the room, which made Patriarch Li and the white-robed man furious.
"Patriarch, what should we do now?" the white-robed man asked, frowning.
"Shadow Soul Sect is also here for this event. Liam Li is both a member of our Li Family and Shadow Soul Sect. We'll go to the Chu Family first and find Evan Yang. If he doesn't give us a solution, we'll seek out Shadow Soul Sect and have their experts deal with him," Patriarch Li said.
"Alright, let's head to the Chu Family manor and see what Evan Yang has to say," the white-robed man said angrily.
So Patriarch Li, the white-robed man, and several Li Family members made their way to the Chu Family manor. Seeing so many Li Family people outside, the Chu Family thought they were here to cause trouble and came out in force.
"Patriarch Li, what are you doing here?" Chu Xiang asked, puzzled.
"Patriarch Li, wasn't it you who tried to poison me? And you even used a Shadow Soul Sect disciple to search my memories? Am I wrong?" Evan Yang retorted.
Hearing this, everyone finally understood what was going on. But Evan Yang attacking a Shadow Soul Sect disciple made Victor Chu uneasy—this was an ancient sect, full of experts, and their arts were strange.
"Kid, don't slander us! Would the Li Family ever do such a thing?" Leonard Li said angrily.
"Then what evidence do you have that I did it? That I poisoned him? Don't accuse people without proof—if you want to arrest someone, you need evidence." Evan Yang snorted coldly.
Patriarch Li and Leonard Li hadn’t expected Evan Yang to be so cunning, refusing to admit anything. Seeing that continuing was pointless, Patriarch Li snorted, "Kid, if you’ve got guts, don’t leave. Come on, let’s go find the Shadow Soul Sect elders."
With that, the Li Family left. Watching them go, Evan Yang smiled, while Victor Chu stepped forward and asked, "What's really going on?"
"Let's talk inside," Evan Yang said. So Evan Yang, Hannah Nangong, Chase Chu, and Victor Chu entered the house, while the others stood guard outside.
Seeing the three’s curious expressions, Evan Yang explained what had happened. Once they finished listening, they finally understood.
Victor Chu showed a worried expression and said, "Looks like you’ve offended the Shadow Soul Sect this time."
"Senior, what is this Shadow Soul Sect exactly?" Evan Yang asked curiously.
"Don't worry, I've got my own way to handle this," Evan Yang said.
Victor Chu wasn't sure what Evan Yang's method was, but he trusted that Evan really had a solution. Hannah Nangong and Chase Chu were also worried in their own ways.
Seeing their expressions, Evan Yang smiled, "Alright, it's fine. You guys go rest."
"No, I'll go look into things," Victor Chu said after thinking about it, still uneasy.
Victor Chu soon left, and Chase Chu naturally had no mood to cultivate. Evan Yang and Hannah Nangong just stayed in the manor, with nothing else to do.
Patriarch Li returned to his own manor first, then brought Liam Li's body and carried him to another place.
On the way, Leonard Li asked, "Patriarch, are we really doing this?"
"Of course. With the Shadow Soul Sect involved, maybe we can even crush the Chu Family," Patriarch Li said.
"But, Patriarch, have you thought about this? If the Shadow Soul Sect learns Evan Yang has powerful techniques and treasures, will they still..." Leonard Li said worriedly.
"So that's what you're worried about. Relax. As long as we don't mention his techniques or treasures, and just blame Liam Li's situation on Evan Yang—say Evan struck first and hurt him—the Shadow Soul Sect will step in. When Evan Yang is injured, we'll figure out a way to subdue him," Patriarch Li said.
"That kid's only eighth-tier Heavenly-Immortal, yet he's got us running around like this. I really wonder what he's learned," Leonard Li said angrily after hearing this.
"Isn't that a good thing? At least it proves he's strong, which means his treasures and techniques are impressive. But what I don't get is how he wasn't poisoned. Didn't our Li Family expert use a poison master?" Patriarch Li suddenly thought of something.
"I don't get it either. That guy clearly drained Evan Yang's strength, but when he came out, he was full of energy," Leonard Li said, confused.
"Looks like something's off. We'll ask Evan Yang once we've got him subdued," Patriarch Li said, frowning.
"Mm," Leonard Li replied.
After a while, Patriarch Li and Leonard Li arrived at an estate. Unlike other manors, this one was much more luxurious, with guards at the gate—ordinary people couldn't just walk in.
The gate guard frowned at the group, "Who are you?"
"We're from the Li Family. We need to see Elder Hubert Hu," Patriarch Li said.
"Li Family? What do you want with Elder Hu?" the guard asked.
Patriarch Li thought for a moment, then said, "It's like this. One of our Li Family disciples is in the Shadow Soul Sect, but something happened and we'd like the elder to help us."
"What happened? Let me see," the guard said, still uneasy.
Patriarch Li had Liam Li brought forward. The guard checked him over but found nothing obvious, so he frowned, "Wait here. I'll go report."
"Thank you," Patriarch Li said.
The guard turned and headed into the manor. Deep inside, two people stood watch. The guard respectfully said, "Seniors, the Li Family is here to see Elder Hubert Hu."
"Li Family? What's the matter?" one asked.
"Seems a Shadow Soul Sect disciple is in trouble. They want Elder Hu," the guard replied.
"Shadow Soul Sect disciple? Aren't all of them in the manor right now?" the watcher said.
"Well, one isn't. He went to the Li Family, and now he's completely paralyzed," the guard explained.
"Oh? How could that happen? Wasn't everyone told to stay put? Ridiculous," the man said angrily.
"Instructions were given, but..." The guard didn't know what else to say.
"Alright, step back. I'll go talk to Elder Hu," the man said angrily, then walked into the room, where an old man cloaked in black aura sat with his eyes closed.
"What's the matter?" the old man asked without opening his eyes.
"A disciple from our sect had an incident. His family is at the manor gate asking to see the elder," the gate guard reported.
"What's going on?" The elder opened his eyes and frowned, the black aura dissipating.
"Not sure. They're outside right now," the man replied.
"Alright, go out for now," the elder said.
In the manor's main hall, the Li Family group was called inside.
Behind the Li Family crowd, someone was carried in, wearing Shadow Soul Sect robes. Elder Hubert Hu saw this and frowned, "What's going on here?"
"Elder Hu, it's like this. He used to be a Li Family disciple, so he came to visit. But someone bullied him, and now he can't move. We don't know what drug was used, so we wanted Elder Hu to check," Patriarch Li explained.
Elder Hu frowned, walked up and examined Liam Li, then muttered, "He's definitely from our sect, but who did this to him? Who?"
"His name's Evan Yang. He's eighth-tier Heavenly-Immortal, but his strength is freakish," Patriarch Li said.
Elder Hu narrowed his eyes. "Eighth-tier Heavenly-Immortal? And he did this?"
"Yes, that's him. He not only crippled Liam Li, but also forced our Li Family to back off," Leonard Li added.
Elder Hu stared at Patriarch Li and Leonard Li. "You said he used poison?"
"That's right. He used some unknown poison. We can't figure it out," Patriarch Li said.
Elder Hu looked at Liam Li, then at the Li Family group, his expression darkening.
"I'll check it myself. Wait here," Elder Hu said, then began examining Liam Li's injuries.
The Li Family group waited nervously, unsure what Elder Hu would find.
After a while, Elder Hu finished his inspection and said grimly, "This poison is unusual. It seems to have a soul-damaging effect. Who did you say used it?"
"Evan Yang. He's got all sorts of strange abilities. Even our Li Family's poison master couldn't figure out how he resisted the poison," Patriarch Li answered.
Elder Hu's face grew even darker. "I see. This Evan Yang is more troublesome than expected."
