Origin of Cyrus

12/19/2025

Joe Di was equally stunned. The Bay of Legends had originally been shrouded by a protective array, an immense formation rooted in the vitality of heaven and earth, concealing it from sight.

Yet under Cyrus's incantation, this concealing array melted away like snow before a blazing fire, vanishing rapidly. At this moment, Joe Di's spiritual sense could clearly sweep across the entire Bay of Legends, seeing a lush green expanse. But that color was fading to withered yellow at a terrifying speed. The groups of cultivators rushing forward collapsed and died as soon as they encountered the withering, and in less than a breath, their bodies turned to skeletons, which soon dissolved into nothingness.

This withering spread outward from the entrance of the Bay of Legends' protective array, and in the blink of an eye, it had swept across nearly half the continent. As the area affected grew, the speed of the spread only increased.

Joe Di sucked in a cold breath. Who exactly was Cyrus, to be so terrifying? If such a powerhouse wanted to slaughter all the cultivators of the Taiji Realm, it would likely take no longer than exterminating those of the Bay of Legends.

Several powerful cultivators of the Bay of Legends, who had unleashed their treasures against Cyrus, found even their clothing dissolving into nothingness. Their flesh quickly rotted away, and soon only corpses and bones remained, collapsing onto the ground.

James Bay was formidable, protected by treasures, and yet his body still began to rot away. Terror spread from his eyes to every part of his being.

A chill ran down Joe Di's spine. He had killed before and had seen cruel cultivators, but compared to Cyrus, those people were nothing.

He could vaguely tell that Cyrus was using poison. When Joe Di sent his spiritual sense to investigate, he was shocked to find that even his spiritual sense began to wither, and the poison threatened to spread along it into his body.

Cyrus must have sensed Joe Di's spiritual sense entering his area of attack. He smiled faintly at Joe Di, and in the next instant, the poison attached to Joe Di's spiritual sense vanished without a trace.

So powerful!

"Poison Sovereign! What grudge does the Bay of Legends have with you, for you to be so ruthless and destroy us..." James Bay shouted with his last ounce of strength, nearly hysterical.

Cyrus sneered, "Others may call me ruthless, but you of the Bay of Legends have no right to say such things. Compared to your Bay of Legends, my Poison Sovereign is as gentle as an old grandmother. Die!"

With Cyrus's final word, James Bay exploded into nothingness, vanishing into the void.

Poison Sovereign? Joe Di had never heard of this name before, but he was certain that it was no weaker than titles like Calamity Lord.

Boom! Roars echoed, and then the entire continent of the Bay of Legends began to crack with a sharp, splintering sound. All Joe Di could sense was withered yellow, gray, and a lifeless wasteland devoid of vitality.

Just half a stick of incense ago, the Bay of Legends was a thriving sanctuary for cultivation, with complete laws and abundant vitality. Now, it was worse than hell itself.

Boom! The Bay of Legends finally burst apart, shattering into endless fragments that exploded in the void.

Joe Di fell silent. He had come for revenge, but had never intended to wipe out an entire continent like Cyrus. At most, he would have eliminated the Bay Family, but he would not harm cultivators unconnected to them. Cyrus, who had come to support him, had poisoned and destroyed the entire Bay of Legends. This...

"Brother Di, does this revenge feel satisfying or not?" After the collapse of the Bay of Legends, Cyrus laughed heartily and turned to ask.

His face was a bit pale, and Joe Di could sense that his aura was somewhat chaotic.

Joe Di clasped his fists and said, "Thank you, Brother Cyrus, for avenging me. If I had come alone, I doubt things would have gone so swiftly and decisively."

Cyrus had helped him take revenge, and even if Joe Di felt Cyrus's killing intent was excessive, now was not the time to bring it up. Besides, in Joe Di's view, he and Cyrus weren't exactly close friends.

Cyrus chuckled, "So you know my title now. That's right, I am the Poison Sovereign. Back in the day, if my name was mentioned, even the grand masters of top sects would restrain themselves, knowing they couldn't afford to provoke me. I also know a bit about your personality—you're soft-hearted and cautious, so you don't quite approve of my ways.

But if you knew how I acted in the past, you'd like me even less. After surviving this ordeal, I've changed a lot. At the very least, I won't kill innocent people for no reason. The destruction of the Bay of Legends today was because I owed you a great favor. My methods may be ruthless, but if not for the Grandway Abyss, I truly would have been powerless. I have few friends—no more than three. Though our personalities differ, you count as one. Farewell for now. If fate allows, we'll meet again..."

With that, the Poison Sovereign turned to leave.

Joe Di called after him, "Brother Poison, since we're friends, there's something I must say."

The Poison Sovereign replied solemnly, "Speak, Brother Di. Whatever you wish to say, I won't take offense."

Clearly, he had guessed what Joe Di was about to say. Compared to the past, his willingness to accept Joe Di's words showed true friendship.

Joe Di nodded, "Brother Poison, although I haven't stepped into the Third Step, I do have some insights into the Dao. This trip to the Grandway Abyss, entering Mountainview, and nearly reaching the Mountainview Summit, has given me even greater understanding of the Grand Way."

When he heard that Joe Di had nearly reached the Mountainview Summit, the Poison Sovereign was even more shocked. He knew that Joe Di was no ordinary cultivator, having led them out of the Grandway Abyss. But to have reached the summit of Mountainview—if it were possible, the Poison Sovereign would have gone long ago, but his comprehension was still lacking. No matter how ruthless his methods, ascending Mountainview had nothing to do with cruelty.

"There's a saying from my homeland: 'Those who attain the Dao gain much support; those who lose it are left with little.' After fusing my own Dao resonance, I realized it should be, 'Much support leads to attaining the Dao; little support leads to losing it.' This support is heaven's aid. In any universe, excessive meaningless slaughter will cause one to lose heaven's aid, making it all the harder to attain the Dao." Joe Di left it at that, believing the Poison Sovereign would understand.

In fact, there was one thing Joe Di hadn't told the Poison Sovereign: if he had been the one to destroy the Bay of Legends, the consequences wouldn't have been as great as when the Poison Sovereign did it. This was because Joe Di had begun creating his own cosmic laws and would eventually form his own universe of rules. As his cultivation and strength increased, the influence of the Five Elements Universe would become weaker for him.

And the 'heaven's aid' he spoke of referred to the Five Elements Universe's support. No matter how powerful the Poison Sovereign was, he still cultivated within the laws of the Five Elements Universe and could not escape its constraints. The more senseless killing he committed in the Five Elements Universe, the greater the negative impact, and it would truly offer him no help in pursuing the Grand Way.

Surprisingly, the Poison Sovereign did not refute Joe Di. Instead, he clasped his fists and said, "Thank you, Brother Di, for your heartfelt words. Though your way differs from mine, I still appreciate your sincerity. Farewell for now. Until we meet again."

With that, the Poison Sovereign's figure flickered and vanished in an instant. Perhaps knowing his views differed too greatly from Joe Di's, he didn't even leave a communication pearl.

Joe Di sighed. He knew that the Poison Sovereign hadn't truly listened to his words. If someone else had said them, the Poison Sovereign would likely have responded with a deadly poison law instead of gratitude.

Having witnessed the Poison Sovereign's terrifying power, Joe Di decided he needed to study the Poison Sovereign's toxic laws carefully. Even if they were friends now, who knew what the future held? If the Poison Sovereign ever came to his territory and unleashed such power, Joe Di might be able to withstand it, but his friends certainly could not.
