Does Looking at It Make You Salivate
Evan Xiao was silent for a moment before he said, "Leon Zane, honestly, trading the Jade Spire for this idea of yours just isn't worth it."
"Worth it! Of course it's worth it!" Leon Zane shot back, a little too eagerly. "As long as I can make that nasty woman Rona Yin beg me in tears, it's worth anything! But... only if Your Highness doesn't object!"
"Aren't you worried they'll end up killing your Mutant Celestial Hound instead?"
"Impossible!" Leon Zane declared. "I know my dog! No way those two could beat it! Absolutely not!"
"Suit yourself!" Evan Xiao replied. "You're so enthusiastic about catching thieves, I can't bring myself to dampen your spirits."
"Great! With Your Highness's blessing, I can relax!" Leon Zane cheered, then hurried off, brimming with excitement.
Watching Leon Zane's impatient figure disappear, Evan Xiao couldn't help but recall the hungry, desperate looks Chloe Zhu and Rona Yin gave yesterday. He shook his head with a sigh.
......
Last night, Chloe Zhu spent all night making pills, and since she wouldn't deliver them until tonight, she decided to catch up on sleep during the day.
But as she slept, Chloe Zhu was woken up by hunger.
Smacking her lips, she got up to look for Rona Yin.
Turns out Rona Yin was hungry too, so the two of them decided to climb the mountain and pick some Fairy Fruits to eat.
Those Fairy Fruits are pretty magical.
After eating one, you won't be hungry for the whole day.
And you won't need to use the bathroom either.
When you're cultivating, you feel your spiritual energy is extra full.
Of course, the two of them weren't used to fasting yet. Even though their bodies felt fine, their empty stomachs just felt... hollow.
Climbing up from the hut to the mountain ridge, they found a huge grove of Fairy Fruit trees on the other side.
The two headed down the mountain, ready to hunt for the biggest, juiciest Fairy Fruit they could find.
But just as they reached the edge, a black dog suddenly jumped out!
The black dog wasn't very big, but its short black fur gleamed with oil, and it was solidly built. It bared its sharp teeth at them and barked nonstop.
The two of them jumped in surprise.
They tried to chase it away.
But this dog was way tougher than expected—fast as lightning, ridiculously strong, and crazy brave.
Chloe Zhu fired off three Fireball Spells in a row, but none of them hit.
Instead, she almost got her nose bitten off.
Same with Rona Yin.
Eventually, both of them were totally routed, chased all the way back to their hut by the black dog.
"Damn it! Where did this dog come from?" Rona Yin cursed. "Even Golden Immortal isn't around—are we going to starve today?"
"No way. I'll just whip up some knockout powder and put it to sleep!" Chloe Zhu said coolly. "Hang tight."
She went into her sanctum and pulled out the knockout powder she'd made last time.
Then the two headed back to the Fairy Orchard.
Rona Yin went to lure the dog out, while Chloe Zhu took the chance to dose it with knockout powder.
This knockout powder could even knock out a dragon.
The dog was tough, but it couldn't escape its fate—it was knocked out cold.
Once it was out, Rona Yin raised her knife and finished it off in one clean stroke.
Her thinking at the time was, better to kill it now than have it jump out again next time they came for fruit.
After that, the two of them picked Fairy Fruits and ate their fill before heading back.
Just then, Rona Yin looked at the dog, nudged Chloe Zhu, and said, "Chloe..."
"Hmm?" Chloe Zhu replied.
"Look at this dog, its coat is gorgeous," Rona Yin remarked. "Does it make you think of anything?"
Chloe Zhu glanced at the dog and said, "Why do I feel like... just looking at it makes me drool?"
"Me too!" Rona Yin's eyes sparkled. "Should we... hmm?"
The two exchanged a glance and burst out laughing.
......
Rona Yin was absolutely in awe of Chloe Zhu.
She somehow produced a pot and some seasonings from thin air.
Then she grabbed some herbs and wild veggies, and cooked up a pot of dog meat that smelled absolutely amazing!
