Never Taking Care of Her Again

12/2/2025

Sam Evans slapped his forehead, finally understanding—Lana Evans and Jasper Cheng had planned this all along. They’d stashed something in the silver, deliberately letting Little Yellow Bird lead the way, so Sam Evans could overhear Lana’s words and see their true colors.

And then they took the silver back, refusing to let those petty people benefit from it.

Seeing the silver safely returned, Sam Evans said, “Good thing the silver’s back, otherwise I’d really have nowhere to hide my embarrassed face!”

“Uncle Sam, what are you planning to do now?” Lily Evans pressed.

Though Sam Evans was heartbroken, his mind was still clear. He said, “Since Lana Evans no longer treats me as her father, why should I keep treating her as my daughter? She and Jasper Cheng plotted together, joined forces with the Cheng Family to scheme against me. They never saw me as family. If they don’t recognize me, then I won’t recognize them either!”

Sam Evans spoke, gritting his teeth, “I’ve always treated Lana Evans with a clear conscience! Now that she’s married, let her husband’s family handle her affairs. If anything comes up, go find the Cheng Family. As her father, I won’t interfere in her business anymore!”

“Alright, Uncle Sam, as long as you’ve thought it through.” Both Lily Evans and Arthur Evans breathed a sigh of relief. Sam Evans’s decisive attitude would save them a lot of trouble.

“I’m not going back! Even if I have to spend my whole life in the guest house, I won’t go back!” Sam Evans slapped the table, making up his mind.

Arthur Evans laughed, “Sam, how could we let you stay in the guest house? Just stay at my place as long as you want.”

Sam Evans tried to refuse, but eventually agreed to stay at Arthur Evans’s home. As for Lana Evans and those few who disgusted him, he didn’t even want to pick up after them anymore.

He really didn’t own anything valuable—just some old clothes, and the silver he’d brought when he moved into Lana Evans’s house had long since been searched out and taken by them.

Arthur Evans said, "If those old clothes aren’t wanted, just leave them. I’ll have someone make new ones for Sam Evans—out with the old, in with the new! Let’s use the old to drive away bad luck and welcome a fresh start for the new year."

With the comfort and reassurance from his family, Sam Evans's mood gradually improved. He said, “Arthur, keep an eye out for me—if there’s any work suitable for me, help me find something. I really can’t just eat and live at your house for free all the time; I feel bad about it.”

Arthur Evans let out a hearty laugh, “Alright, Sam, I’ll keep an eye out for you. For now, just settle in and stay at my place with peace of mind. You’re family.”

Mrs. Charlotte Evans busied herself, making sure Sam Evans was settled in. As Lily Evans was about to leave, she quietly slipped Sam Evans some silver, so he wouldn’t be left without any money during this period—otherwise, it would be far too inconvenient for him.

Sam Evans looked at his genuinely caring niece, wiped away his tears, and thought to himself, sometimes a niece is closer than a daughter. Sigh.

Lily Evans returned to the Jin Prince’s Mansion, while Lana Evans’s home was in an uproar over Sam Evans’s situation.

Mrs. Susan Evans was the first to notice Sam Evans’s absence. She anxiously asked, “Where’s Sam? Why hasn’t he come back?”

Mrs. Sun Evans, who usually kept quiet, suddenly spoke up, “He’s probably gone off to Arthur Evans’s place. You all were so harsh on him—it’s no wonder he didn’t want to stay.”

Lana Evans snorted and said, “If he’s gone, then let him go! From now on, I won’t bother with him anymore.”
