Can the Young Heir Survive This Trial

12/2/2025

After Alexander Hayes finished instructing Commander Sean to pursue Princess May and Gregory Gu Jr., he continued to wait anxiously outside the delivery room.

From inside the delivery room, Lily Evans's agonized cries echoed out intermittently. Each scream seemed to twist Alexander Hayes's insides into knots.

"Darling, Lily, you must be alright!" Alexander stood at the door, fighting the urge to rush inside. If Lily hadn't repeatedly begged him to stay out, he would have already barged in regardless of the rules.

This child was induced and born prematurely, making the delivery extremely difficult. It had already been five or six hours, and still, the baby hadn't come.

Standing outside, Alexander's clothes were soaked with nervous sweat. He wished he could bear the pain in Lily's place.

By evening, Quentin Lin woke up, ate, changed clothes, and hurried over. As soon as he entered the courtyard, he vaguely heard Lily's hoarse cries and quickly ran to peek into the delivery room. "Is Sister still not done?"

Alexander shook his head, his face full of anxiety.

"Don't worry, Brother-in-law. With me and my father here, nothing will go wrong. I'll go check on her right now." Quentin Lin dashed into the delivery room, finding Margaret Evans still seated by Lily's bedside, her legs numb but refusing to leave for even a moment.

Dr. Rowan Lin regularly checked Lily's pulse and occasionally performed acupuncture.

Despite the pain twisting her face, Quentin could see that Lily's complexion was still good—it was only the agony of childbirth making her uncomfortable.

Quentin didn't hand the baby to Lily right away. Instead, he turned to look at her, their eyes meeting. With unwavering determination, he said, "Don't worry, Lily. I promise, I'll cure the baby."

Just that one sentence from Quentin, and Lily understood immediately. Her whole body seemed to collapse, the strength draining out of her.

She'd prepared herself for this. She'd suspected it ever since she hadn't heard the baby's cry. But hearing it confirmed—knowing for sure—was like a knife twisting in her heart.

Thinking about her newborn child having to endure a full blood exchange, Lily was overwhelmed with guilt.

If only she hadn't been careless, her baby wouldn't have been poisoned, wouldn't have to suffer like this!

Lily's baby was premature. In these ancient times, with such backward conditions, the chances of survival for a preemie were slim—and now the child needed a full blood exchange right after birth.

Lily's heart clenched. She'd risked everything to bring this child into the world—could her baby survive this ordeal?

"Alexander, how's the baby? Is... is our child also mentally disabled?" Lily's voice trembled with worry, her face full of anxiety.

Only then did Alexander turn to look at the baby.

The midwife had already cleaned the baby and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, now cradled in Quentin's arms.

The baby was tiny, his face red and wrinkled, his eyes tightly shut as he whimpered softly.

Quentin Lin carefully examined the child, his brows furrowed in concentration.

Dr. Rowan Lin approached, his gaze sharp and professional. "Let me see," he said, taking the baby from Quentin's arms to check for any abnormalities.

The room fell silent, everyone holding their breath as Dr. Rowan Lin conducted his examination.

After a long moment, Dr. Rowan Lin finally smiled. "He's perfectly healthy. No signs of mental disability or any other illness."

Lily Evans let out a sigh of relief, tears streaming down her cheeks as Alexander Hayes gently comforted her.

Quentin Lin handed the Young Heir to Lily, her arms trembling as she held her child for the first time.
