Liking Someone

2/14/2026

Evan Lin escorted Lynn Chen and the others back to Brightsea Garden Court.

Lynn Chen didn't say a word, her face cold as she walked straight inside.

Claire Sheng looked at Evan with anticipation, asking when he'd have time to help her with math tutoring.

Nina Pei sensibly stepped aside, not interrupting.

"When I get back, if school hasn't started yet and you still have time, I'll help you with tutoring then."

Evan thought for a moment and gave her a rough timeframe.

Satisfied with the answer, Claire waved and called out, "Bye, Evan-gege!" before hopping inside.

"Claire, aren't you sad?"

Walking through Brightsea Garden Court, Nina Pei was puzzled.

The woman who suddenly showed up at the cinema really threw everyone off—who knows what kind of unclear relationship she might have with Evan.

Besides, Evan Lin's relationship with Lynn Chen also seems a bit ambiguous.

"Why would I be sad?" Claire Sheng looked at Nina Pei and shook her head. "Nina, I know what you're thinking, but from the start, I never thought Evan-gege would really like me, or only me."

He's so outstanding, so it's normal that lots of people like him. I have no reason or standing to be sad about it. If anything, I should feel lucky.

Claire thought for a moment, her brows furrowing slightly.

"Lucky?"

Nina Pei was stunned.

"That's right, lucky to have met him, to be protected by him. To have a guy like that cross paths with you in your life, go to movies together, eat together, and he doesn't dislike me—just that alone is already a huge blessing for me."

Claire said seriously, "Besides, I'm not pretty or outstanding, so there's no reason for him to like me."

So, I like him, but I won't be sad just because he might like someone else. As long as I can see him and call him Evan-gege to his face, I'm satisfied.

Claire smiled sweetly, reached out, and pinched Nina's cheek. "Also, I know you like him too, Nina. So if you want to chase him, go for it!"

Don't give up your right to pursue love because of me, or anyone else. That wouldn't be fair to you, and it would make me sad too!

Claire's porcelain-doll face was full of sincerity.

Nina stood there, dazed for a long moment, then finally sighed, "Claire, you're really a gentle and kind girl."

Lynn Chen returned home and entered the door.

"Lynn's back? Where's Evan?"

Lucy Lu stood up from her chair.

Charles Chen and Haiyang Sheng were still drinking.

"No idea!"

Lynn Chen tossed out the words and went straight upstairs.

Her good mood for the whole evening was completely ruined.

"Is something wrong?" Susan Pang asked nervously.

"Probably not," Charles Chen said, looking puzzled.

"I'll go check upstairs."

Lucy Lu went upstairs, entered the room, and found Lynn Chen staring blankly.

Seeing Lucy Lu come in, Lynn didn't wait for her to speak and shook her head: "I want to be alone."

Lucy Lu hesitated but said nothing, then quietly closed the door as she left.

Lynn Chen wanted to call Yolanda Fang, took out her phone, dialed, and heard the busy tone—her friend had already turned off her phone.

The room was quiet, and outside the window it was pitch dark.

Lynn Chen burst into tears, her heart full of bitterness and grievance.

After leaving Brightsea Garden Court, Evan Lin returned to the place Big Tank had arranged for him.

"Young Lord, those people have been trying to dig up info on Master Lin from Seacrest these past few days..."

Big Tank entered and spoke respectfully.

They haven't stopped keeping tabs on Faye Zheng and her group.

"Looking for Master Lin from Seacrest?"

Evan Lin sneered, shook his head, walked to the window, and pulled back the curtains: "I'll be leaving Minghai the day after tomorrow."

While I'm gone, keep investigating the headless bronze statue on Thousand-Saints Mountain. I'll have the Summer Family in River City help you.

Try to track Morgan Yang's movements; I want to know how he learned about the bronze statue.

Evan Lin spoke in a calm tone.

With Morgan Yang dead, there's not much left to deal with in Minghai.

The only thing still puzzling Evan was the bronze statue, and that wouldn't be solved anytime soon.

"Yes, I'll do my best!"

Big Tank nodded repeatedly.

After Big Tank left, Evan Lin looked at his left hand.

On the dragon tattoo of his left hand, the fiery pattern looked even brighter than before.

This Fire-Spirit Mortal Body is even more useful than I expected. If I can find a special flame for it to absorb, maybe its power will grow even further.

There are different grades of Fire-Spirit Bodies. The Fire-Spirit Mortal Body is the lowest, but some geniuses on the Immortal Martial Continent have cultivated it to perfection, reaching the Fire-Spirit Saint Body.

The method for tempering a Fire-Spirit Body is different from ordinary cultivation. Instead of spiritual energy, what matters is having enough fire power—fire sources—while spiritual energy isn't as important.

That's why, on a spiritual-energy-starved Earth, this is actually a pretty good choice.

The next day, Evan Lin called Faye Zheng and set a time to return to Oceanport.

On the other end of the phone, Faye Zheng was still upset about everything Evan had done, her words full of resentment.
