Mason Ming Is Injured

1/4/2026

Mason Ming was stunned for a moment. "Hey, hey, hey, I haven't finished talking yet!"

"Not seeing anyone!" came Jay Kee's muffled reply from inside the room.

Jay Kee didn't know what else to say.

The person Sister Chen introduced really had pretty good qualifications. Why was Jay Kee...

"Jay Kee, help me!" Mason Ming saw who it was and panicked, shouting loudly, "It's Mr. Quinn's people!"

"Jay Kee, help me!" Mason Ming saw who it was and panicked, shouting loudly, "It's Mr. Quinn's people!"

It happened to be a long holiday, so the whole group company was on break. Cherry Miller and Yina Yin could finally rest too.

"Grab him!" the person pulling Mason Ming shouted. "Mr. Quinn said, this time we want him alive or dead!"

Cherry Miller immediately replied, "It'll still take some time. They say they've unearthed a whole dynasty's burial complex and several smaller companion tombs. They've already given me a heads-up—since they're expanding the excavation, it'll affect our plantation. I've reported to Madam, and she said to support the national excavation project, so it'll be a while before it's over. After the dig, they'll need to restore the landscape before we can resume planting and production."

"So, we'll be staying on Riverdale Avenue for a while longer," Yina Yin nodded knowingly.

"Looks like it," Cherry Miller nodded with a smile. "If you don't want to stay here, we can go back to the old house."

"I don't really mind. It's all the same wherever we live," Yina Yin said with a smile, shaking her head. Everyone's been busy with their own things lately, so it really doesn't matter where we stay.

"It'll be fine once everyone's done with their work," Cherry Miller comforted her.

"I know," Yina Yin stretched lazily. "Ah, I can finally get some real rest for a few days. What are your plans for the holiday?"

If he fell into Quentin Chin's hands today, he'd be finished!

Quentin Chin hadn't made any moves these past few days, and Mason Ming thought he'd given up.

Cherry Miller responded and kept her head down, busy with work.

Next door, Jay Kee asked Mason Ming, "That President Qin hasn't given you any trouble lately, right?"

Mason Ming shook his head and said, "No, it's been days since anyone followed or bothered me. Jay Kee, I was just about to talk to you about this. Look, we've been living here for so many days now. Since I don't have any more trouble, should we think about moving out?"

Jay Kee's expression froze. "Move out? Why do we have to move out?"

"Miss Miller lent me this place, and I haven't even paid rent," Mason Ming said uneasily. "We've been freeloading for so long—it's not right to keep living here, is it?"

"Then pay the rent!" Jay Kee really didn't want to move out.

If they moved out, how could he stay close and get ahead?

"Do you think I can afford it?" Mason Ming's eyes widened. "I checked with the property manager—renting a place like this costs twenty thousand a month! How could our salaries possibly cover that? Plus, I have to save money to help my mom with her health."

Jay Kee hesitated.

He did have twenty thousand, but what about next month? Would he just stop paying?

But Jay Kee really didn't want to move out.

This whole time, he'd been working hard to win Cherry Miller's favor, and he was almost there.

If he just left now, wouldn't all his efforts be wasted?

"Let's wait a bit longer. Miss Miller hasn't said anything about making us move out..." Jay Kee said. "She's so rich, she won't care about a little rent from us. At worst, we can work harder, help her out more, and make up for the rent that way."

Mason Ming was still hesitant. "Is that really okay?"

"If I say it's okay, then it's okay. Just listen to me!" Jay Kee said firmly.

And just like that, the whole moving-out thing was dropped.

Especially after something happened that completely wiped out Mason Ming and Jay Kee's thoughts of moving.

That day, Mason Ming and Jay Kee left the company together, both with happy smiles on their faces.

The company had just called them in for a meeting, saying they planned to focus on promoting Mason Ming next, and wanted Jay Kee to quickly create a few songs to package and promote him.

The company was generous this time, offering a high price—twice as much as before. Of course, Jay Kee was happy about that.

It was all extra income, and Jay Kee couldn't be happier.

So the two of them left the company building in high spirits.

Just as they were about to hail a cab home, something strange and sudden happened!

Someone suddenly rushed out from the roadside, grabbed Mason Ming by the wrist, and tried to drag him into a car.

It was obvious they wanted to kidnap him!

It all happened in a flash.

Jay Kee grabbed Mason Ming's other wrist and started struggling with the attacker.

"Jay Kee, help me!" Mason Ming saw who it was and panicked, shouting loudly, "It's President Qin's people!"

Jay Kee might be a bit of a jerk, but in some ways, he's pretty loyal!

Seeing that Qin's pursuit had failed and now they wanted to use force, Jay Kee got angry, kicked at the attacker, and took advantage of the distraction to drag Mason Ming away.

"Grab him!" the person pulling Mason Ming shouted. "President Qin said, this time we want him alive or dead!"

Three more people jumped out of the car and charged at Mason Ming and Jay Kee.

"Run!" Jay Kee grabbed Mason Ming's wrist and turned to run.

If they could just hide in the company building, maybe they'd be safe.

But just then, a car suddenly blocked their way from behind.

Their plan to get back to the company was ruined!

Mason Ming was so angry, his eyes turned red.

If he fell into Qin Zhong's hands today, he'd be finished!

Qin Zhong hadn't made any moves these past few days, and Mason Ming thought he'd given up.

He hadn't expected to be ambushed here!

It was all his fault!

He shouldn't have let his guard down!

Suddenly, Mason Ming shook off Jay Kee's hand and charged straight at the car.

At the moment he crashed into the car, Mason Ming thought, maybe if I destroy this face, I'll finally be free.

If that's what it takes, then do it!

"No!" Jay Kee's scream rang out behind him, but Mason Ming was already too late to turn back.

"Screech... Bang!" Mason Ming slammed into the car, his whole body sent flying.

The moment he hit the ground, blood from his left leg spread across the pavement.

"Help! Somebody help! He's been killed!" Jay Kee's eyes turned red as he screamed, "Qin Zhong's killed someone!"

That shout drew a crowd.

The three men chasing Mason Ming stopped in their tracks. Seeing him lying on the ground, not knowing if he was dead or alive, they were too scared to go any closer.

If Mason Ming really died, there was no way those three could get away!

That threat was just meant to scare Mason Ming—they wouldn't dare actually kill someone in broad daylight.

But now things had gotten out of hand!

Now they were scared!

"Let's go, let's get out of here!" The three men exchanged glances, jumped in the car, and sped away in a panic.

Jay Kee ran to Mason Ming, saw his leg, and started crying out, "Is there no justice? Is there no law? Are they trying to drive us to death?"

The driver who caused the accident realized things were bad, quickly got out and explained, "I swear I didn't do it on purpose, I was just driving normally, and he ran into the car himself..."

"How dare you talk!" Jay Kee grabbed the driver's collar. "If anything happens to my friend, you'll be in serious trouble!"

"But... but..." The driver panicked. "I..."

"What are you waiting for? Take him to the hospital!" Jay Kee roared. "If you don't, he'll really die!"

The driver finally opened the car door in a panic, and rushed Jay Kee and Mason Ming to the hospital.

By the time Yina Yin got the news, Mason Ming had already finished surgery.

Yina Yin rushed to the hospital and saw only Mason Ming in the ward, lying there pitifully, his leg in a cast and hanging up. She couldn't help but sigh.

This boy really has had his share of trouble.

Just then, the anesthesia wore off and Mason Ming woke up. The first thing he saw was Yina Yin.

He didn't know why, but when he crashed into the car he wasn't scared, and now he was suddenly terrified.

He immediately felt so wronged that tears welled up as he looked at Yina Yin.

"It was Quentin Chin's men, trying to catch me. They said they wanted me alive or dead. I didn't want to be caught, so I ran into the car myself," Mason Ming said, feeling wronged. "At that moment, I didn't have a choice. If I hadn't crashed, I would've been dragged away. Jay Kee almost got caught up in it too. It's all my fault."

Yina Yin frowned. "Quentin Chin's gone way too far now?"

Yina Yin sat by the bed. "Tell me what happened."

"Alright, stop crying. This was my oversight—I didn't expect Quentin Chin to go this crazy," Yina Yin said. "I promised I'd protect you, and I will. I'll handle this. You just rest up."

Yina Yin frowned. "Qin Zhong's gone way too far now?"

"Miss Yin, thank you for protecting me these days, but I can't keep hiding behind you. I just made up my mind—I'm quitting the entertainment industry and finding a normal job," Mason Ming said, growing more and more upset. "I really can't live every day in fear anymore."

"Alright, stop crying. This was my oversight—I didn't expect Qin Zhong to go this crazy," Yina Yin said. "I promised I'd protect you, and I will. I'll handle this. You just rest up."

With that, Yina Yin got up and left.

Not long after Yina Yin left, Jay Kee came back, glanced at the door, and said, "Did I see things just now? Was that pretty boy from the Yin family here? He actually came to see you?"

Mason Ming blurted out, "She's not a pretty boy!"

She's a real heiress!

Jay Kee curled his lip. "If she's not a pretty boy, then who is? Whatever, you're hurt now, so I won't argue. I just paid the fees, so that's it—I've spent all my money on medicine, and there's nothing left for rent! We can't give up this place, or where would we live?"
