Old Feelings Unforgotten

Lily Bai nodded.

"Did you gain anything?" Soren Lann asked.

Lily Bai said, "If you want to call it a gain, someone told me I could never comprehend the Law of the Void, and that I could never open the Void Gate."

"Someone? Who?"

Lily Bai said, "Probably someone from the Otherworld."

Soren Lann paused, then asked, "Besides telling you that you can't open the Void Gate, did he say anything else?"

Lily Bai said, "He also gave me a character."

"Which character?"

"Qing."

Soren Lann nodded and asked, "Are you guys about to leave?"

"Yeah! After all that research, I still couldn't figure anything out," Lily Bai said. "Divine Lord, maybe you shouldn't go either!"

But Soren Lann said, "I want to go down and take a look."

"Well... alright. We'll go down with you again," Lily Bai said.

Soren Lann nodded.

"You guys go ahead, we'll head back first," Tanya Quinn said, supporting her pregnant belly, clearly tired.

So everyone escorted Divine Lord Tanya Quinn and Lord Noctis out, and Lily Bai led Soren Lann down into the cave.

Sean Shaw watched their backs, looking a little unhappy.

Azure Flame laughed, "They're just walking together for a few steps. Are you really that jealous?"

Sean Shaw glanced at her. "You've been hanging around the Radiant Palace all day—how's your romantic battle record?"

Azure Flame grinned, "I stole a kiss yesterday. He looked angry, but at least he didn't try to kill me."

Sean Shaw looked at her smile. "I haven't seen you smile in a hundred years, and now just because you stole a kiss from Soren Lann, you're suddenly so lively and cheerful... Honestly, I'm a little jealous of him."

Azure Flame: "Ha! Ha!"

"Even though I've lost a great general, I still hope you can win him over," Sean Shaw said. "If you need any help from me, just ask."

Azure Flame gave him a thumbs up. "Old iron!"

Sean Shaw smiled.

...

Lily Bai and Soren Lann walked ahead. Lily asked him, "How's Azure Flame been lately?"

Soren Lann glanced at her but said nothing.

"Is she doing alright?"

Soren Lann glanced back, his expression sour. "She's doing better than I am."

Lily Bai almost wanted to laugh, but couldn't quite manage it.

She'd done a divination for Azure Flame—the hexagram was the same as her mother's.

But a lot of things, like falling in love or not, are beyond anyone's control...

"Huh? Divine Lord, were you looking at me just now?" Azure Flame squeezed to the front of the narrow tunnel, shoving Lily Bai to the back.

"I wasn't looking at you!" Soren Lann said. "Stay away from me."

"Why so harsh? At least give me some face in front of the Crown Prince and Crown Princess!" Azure Flame bumped into him.

Soren Lann: "Don't touch me!"

"Were you guys just talking about me?" Azure Flame asked.

"No, we weren't. Can you please keep your distance?"

"The tunnel's only so big—how far do you want me to go?"

Soren Lann quickened his pace, Azure Flame chased after him, and the two arrived at the Void Gate one after the other.

Lily Bai and Sean Shaw had already been there—they watched from a distance, but didn't go over.

Sean Shaw glanced at Lily Bai and asked, "Why do you look so gloomy and miserable?"

Lily Bai shook her head.

"Did Soren Lann say something to you?"

"No."

Sean Shaw's face turned cold, and he stopped talking.

"Really, nothing!" Lily Bai pinched him. "Can you stop getting jealous over nothing?"

"Then what's wrong with you?"

"What's wrong with me?"

"You're obviously in a bad mood!" Sean Shaw said. "He must've said something to you. Are you still hung up on your old feelings?"
