Complicated and Deep Gaze

On the bed, Lucky was deep in sleep, his brows furrowing as if he were trapped in endless pain.

Belle came in carrying a bowl of medicine. Lily Evans noticed slices of ginseng inside.

"Madam, you ate half of the Thousand-Year Ginseng, and the doctor said to give the other half to Sir," Belle said.

"Let me feed him," Lily Evans said, taking the bowl. She wiped away a tear from the corner of her eye, gently stroked Lucky's hair, and softly coaxed, "Husband, wake up. It's time to take your medicine."

Lucky opened his eyes in a daze, his gaze unfocused. When he saw Lily Evans, he murmured, "Wife... Wife..."

"Be good, take your medicine," Lily Evans said softly, gazing into his eyes with tenderness.

Still groggy, Lucky struggled to raise his hand and pushed the bowl away, shaking his head. "Ginseng... Wife should eat... I don't want it..."

A crystal tear fell into the bowl. Lily Evans looked down at the medicinal soup, stirred it with a spoon, scooped up a spoonful, and brought it to Lucky's lips, coaxing, "Lucky, be good. I've already eaten mine. Now it's your turn."

Lucky opened his mouth in a daze. Lily Evans fed him spoonful by spoonful. When he finished, Lucky clung tightly to Lily's hand, unwilling to let go, but his eyelids drooped uncontrollably and he fell back into a deep sleep.

"Mom, Belle, I'll sleep here tonight. You've both stayed up for so long—go get some rest," Lily Evans said, slipping off her shoes and climbing onto the bed.
