A Colossal Undertaking

White Pete was startled by Sean Hayes's unusually enthusiastic welcome, looking both flattered and a bit overwhelmed. "General Hayes, you're now the Grand General of Qin! I'm just a wandering craftsman—how could I possibly deserve such treatment?"

"No, no! Master White, your timely arrival has truly saved my life! Come, come, let's head back to the Palace of Qin. You'll understand everything once we get there." Sean hurriedly instructed the coachman to drive on, heading straight for the palace.

Inside the carriage, White Lily poked her head out, curiously looking around. It was her first time in Charleston, and the little girl was fascinated by everything she saw.

"Daddy, are we going to live here in Charleston from now on?" White Lily tilted her head and asked White Pete.

White Pete smiled and gently patted his daughter's head, doting on her. "That's right. Do you like it here, Lily?"

White Lily answered without hesitation, "As long as Daddy's with me, anywhere is fine!"

"Hahaha!" White Pete happily hugged his daughter's shoulders. His little girl was truly his precious sweetheart!

The carriage soon arrived at the Palace of Qin. They got off and continued on foot.

White Pete held White Lily's hand as they walked. It was the girl's first time entering the palace, and she was curious about everything, constantly asking what this was and who that person was.

If White Pete knew the answer, he'd explain himself; if he didn't, Sean Hayes would step in and answer for him.

Sean Hayes led White Pete and his daughter to the door of Princess Jade Hayes’s room. Mrs. Penny came out with a cheerful smile. "Mr. White, you’re finally back! Chancellor Evans has been waiting for you for quite some time."

Then Mrs. Penny turned to White Lily, squatting down and saying, "Lily, Aunt Penny will take you to play. There are four little brothers and sisters over there—you’ll have a great time!"

White Lily glanced at White Pete, who trusted Chancellor Evans’s people completely. Mrs. Penny had always been part of the Palace of Qin, and she and White Pete were already well acquainted.

White Pete said to White Lily, "Lily, go play with Aunt Penny and be good, all right?"

"Yes, Daddy, I’ll be good!" White Lily nodded obediently, walked over to Mrs. Penny, and took her hand. "Aunt Penny, let’s go meet the little brothers and sisters!"

"Good girl, you’re so well-behaved." Mrs. Penny smiled warmly and led White Lily away.

Meanwhile, Sean Hayes quickly ushered White Pete into the room.

Inside, Princess Jade Hayes was seated at the table, busy making masks.

Hearing footsteps, Princess Jade Hayes looked up and saw White Pete walk in.

"Mr. White, you’re finally back! If you hadn’t come, I’d have worked myself to death!" Princess Jade Hayes looked at him like he was her savior and hurriedly pulled White Pete over.

Over the past few days, Princess Jade Hayes’s fake spies had started to produce results, and several enemy agents were caught without anyone noticing.

This meant that, besides the original sixteen disguise masks, Princess Jade Hayes now had to make masks for the newly captured spies as well.

Just thinking about the workload ahead made her feel overwhelmed!

Princess Jade Hayes felt like she wouldn’t have time for anything else—just making disguise masks would take up all her time.

Now that White Pete was finally back, Princess Jade Hayes could breathe a sigh of relief. At least there was someone else who could make masks, and she could finally get a break.

White Pete looked confused, but seeing Princess Jade Hayes’s expression, he knew it couldn’t be anything good. He asked, "Chancellor Evans, why did you need me back so urgently? On the way, I asked the people who picked me up, but they said it was top secret. Can you finally tell me what you want me to do?"
