Quinn Shepherd glanced at him, shaking his head with a faint smile. "Logan Cross, your wounds are severe. If you don't get treatment soon, they'll flare up and kill you."
Logan was drenched in blood, wounds covering his body, staining the upside-down waterfall beneath his feet a deep crimson.
He'd shielded the disciples of the Heavenly Venerables and giants aboard the ark, fought off heart demons, and taken the full force of the Heart Demon Heavenly Emperor's palm—leaving him battered and broken.
Quinn, expert in medicine with eyes sharp as blades, could tell at a glance that Logan was on the verge of collapse—one step away from death.
"You've waited forty thousand years for me—what's a few more minutes?"
Quinn stepped closer, checking Logan's wounds. "Fixing you up is no trouble. Stop trying to tough it out."
Logan grunted as every gash on his body split open, blood pouring down in torrents.
Quinn hoisted him and carried him to the mountaintop. First, he stopped the bleeding, then took out spirit herbs and refined them into pills. "I can treat the hidden injuries in your body, heal your Primordial Spirit with medicine, and fix up your Divine Treasuries and Heaven Palace. But the Dao-wounds left by the Heart Demon Heavenly Emperor's palm—that's something only you can resolve."
He added apologetically, "Those wounds are beyond me. But I'm skilled in Creation arts—years ago, I cut off one of your arms, so I could just as easily give you a new one."
Logan shook his head. "My name means 'Peerless.' My parents hoped I'd be unmatched, but after you severed my arm, I realized 'peerless' could mean this too. Everything I've learned and understood is in this one arm—if you reattach the other, I'd just have to cut it off again."
"Grow!"
Quinn gave a low shout, and the Origin-Root Heartwood Core instantly lengthened, reaching Logan’s Heaven Palace Jade Capital City, its other end arriving at the Lingxiao Hall before Logan’s Primordial Spirit.
Quinn carefully observed Logan’s expression. "Do you know this treasure can change at my will and is razor-sharp? Even if you’re a master of the Lingxiao realm, your life is in my hands right now. With a single thought, I could burst your Heaven Palace, pierce your Primordial Spirit, and blow up your head."
Logan’s expression was calm. "I trust you. If you don’t heal me, I won’t live much longer anyway."
Quinn laughed and handed him the spirit pill. "You trust me so much, it’s embarrassing. To be honest, I don’t even fully trust myself. Your wounds will take some time to heal; when you’re better, challenge me again."
Logan got up and asked, "Where are you going? I want to follow you. If I don’t remove the heart demon from my Dao heart, I’ll die by its hand even if I return to Heaven. Don’t worry, when I’m healed I’ll fight you at equal realm. If I use cultivation to suppress you, my heart demon won’t be removed."
Quinn was about to speak when suddenly a beam of divine light split the sky, heading straight for them.
The divine light sped up, and from afar, vast yuanqi surged forth, forming a giant hand that enveloped the mountaintop!
"A True God!" Logan’s heart skipped a beat. He was about to intervene, but his yuanqi suddenly grew chaotic.
Quinn’s yuanqi erupted, and the waterfall beneath his feet soared up, forming a dome that covered the mountaintop. Logan looked up and saw water flowing down the dome’s surface, with strange symbols appearing in the flow.
Those were Heavenly Dao runes.
This Heavenly Dao technique was called Heaven Vault—it was the sixth Heaven Dao of Profound Capital.
The giant hand collided with the sixth Heaven Dao, both exploding. Quinn raised his eyebrows—the newcomer’s cultivation was extremely deep.
“Back then, the famous Shepherd Heavenly Venerable who shook the Dragon-Han, Supreme Sovereign, and Everpeace eras—Quinn Overlord Body—was nothing special!”
The divine light howled closer, revealing a man cloaked in blue-gold feathers, wings crossed over his chest. Suddenly, his wings flapped, sending countless blue-gold feathers flying at Quinn, instantly covering the entire mountaintop and blocking out all light.
Those feather-swords surged like a flood, weaving up and down around the mountain.
“Logan, this is a feud between Vast-Sky Palace and Shepherd Heavenly Venerable. It’s none of your business—don’t interfere!” the blue-feathered man shouted.
Quinn raised his hand, breaking the waterfall’s flow, once again forming Heaven Vault to protect the mountaintop. Countless blue-gold feathers crashed against the dome, glimmering with radiant light.
“Heavenly Dao technique? Which Heavenly Venerable’s disciple in Heaven hasn’t cultivated it? Shepherd Heavenly Venerable, don’t embarrass yourself!”
The blue-gold feathered man knelt outside the Heaven Vault, his voice solemn: “Aaron Featherwind, disciple of Vast-Sky Venerable, greets Shepherd Heavenly Venerable!”
Disciple of Vast-Sky Venerable?
Quinn strained to keep Heaven Vault intact, his face flushed. "If you’re here to kill me, why be so respectful?"
Aaron Featherwind remained kneeling, using feathers to seal off the space and prevent Quinn’s escape. He bowed respectfully, performing three kneels and nine kowtows. "I heard that at the start of the Dragon-Han era, Shepherd Heavenly Venerable taught the God-Making Method in place of Heaven-Guide Venerable, stealing my master’s merit. Yet regardless, Shepherd has immense merit. I am ordered by my master to kill you, and you will die by my hand, but since you taught the God-Making Method, I must kneel first before ending your life!"

Quinn struggled to maintain Heaven Vault, panting. "Vast-Sky’s disciples are certainly polite. I’m a soulless man, my life is nearly over—aren’t you going to seal your cultivation for a fair fight?"
He coughed violently, his breath weak, a sense of heroic decline and bitter end rising in his heart. He laughed bleakly: "My cultivation has already fallen to the Spirit Embryo Realm. You’re a True God, but I’m only at Spirit Embryo—I hope to die heroically, at least in a fair battle, so I can die in peace."
Aaron Featherwind rose, a metallic clang behind him as four Heaven Palaces floated in the halo above his head. His gaze was sharp, and he smiled: "Venerable ordered that Shepherd’s cultivation is profound, combining three or four Emperor’s-Throne methods. Only True God power can suppress him."
He was a True God; his Primordial Spirit was a bird-headed, human-bodied deity who had crossed South Heaven Gate and was close to Jade Terrace. His power erupted, sending countless blue-gold feathers slicing through Heaven Vault, surging at Quinn!
Aaron’s voice continued: "Venerable also said Shepherd’s divine sense is strong, and he’s cultivated the Immeasurable Kalpa Sutra from Old Buddha. So Venerable made each of us an artifact to block Shepherd’s illusions."
The jade pendant on his chest lit up, its glow swirling.
Quinn’s expression changed slightly. This jade pendant was refined by Vast-Sky himself and could counter his dream-realm illusion.
He had just tried to pull Aaron into his dream-realm, but the pendant blocked his divine sense!
Aaron’s attack was several times stronger than before; blue-gold feather-swords covered the sky, surrounding all directions and leaving Quinn nowhere to escape.
At that moment, Quinn’s yuanqi rose behind him, turning into a fan. He grabbed it and swept forcefully; heavenly wind surged, sweeping away countless feather-swords!
The eighth Heaven Dao—Heavenly Wind.
Aaron spat out a spirit pearl; the heavenly wind howled, but couldn’t move him at all. The wind’s power was instantly neutralized.
Quinn was inwardly shocked: "Profound Capital’s Heaven Duke really is in danger."
He’d just used two Heaven Dao techniques, both easily broken by Aaron. His Heaven Dao arts included not only classic formula-derived runes but also runes calculated by the Grand Micro Numerology Canon.
Yet Heaven clearly developed various divine arts specifically to counter Heaven Dao and eliminate Heaven Duke!
He thought to himself, "Heaven probably hasn’t cracked all forty-nine Heaven Daos yet—otherwise Heaven Duke would already be dead. But that day isn’t far off."
Aaron Featherwind reached the mountaintop alone, blue light streaming behind him as countless feather-swords returned, merging into a pair of blue wings. He laughed, "Shepherd Heavenly Venerable, I’ve already said, Heaven Dao techniques are common in Heaven!"
He thrust his wings forward, having mastered four Emperor’s-Throne arts. His cultivation was unexpectedly deep and powerful, his wings slicing space into thousands of fragments.
Meanwhile, his Primordial Spirit stood in the central Heaven Palace, sleeves billowing, cradling a blazing sun. A beam of pure light shot from the sun, targeting Quinn!
In the other three Heaven Palaces, his Primordial Spirit’s phantoms appeared, each channeling the palace’s power and unleashing divine arts, forming three giants—a beautiful celestial maiden, a rustic ancient god, and a fierce demon king—all attacking Quinn at once!
Quinn had never faced someone who mastered multiple Emperor’s-Throne arts and ascended to the divine realm. Heaven Dao alone was no longer enough—he grabbed his sword orb, which exploded into a storm of sword light.
The clang of collisions rang out; in an instant, both figures vanished from the peak, blasted away by each other’s power!
In a flash, the two were sent flying dozens of miles apart, a crack splitting the mountaintop.
Logan stood atop the mountain, the Origin-Root Heartwood Core still in his brow, silver needles all over his body, not daring to move.
The silver needles were manageable—he could break them while channeling power, leaving fragments in his Divine Treasury. But the Origin-Root Heartwood Core in his brow couldn’t be broken.
If he tried to channel power, his Heaven Palace and brain might get turned to mush!
“Quinn Overlord Body probably isn’t a match for this man—their realms are worlds apart…”
Just as he thought this, the two distant figures’ divine arts reached the mountaintop. In the moment they were blasted away, each unleashed hundreds of divine arts!
Aaron’s techniques were even more numerous—his Primordial Spirit in the four Heaven Palaces used various Emperor’s-Throne arts, each move powerful, hundreds of divine arts surging forth with terrifying might.
Quinn, meanwhile, relied solely on swordsmanship. Flying swords howled in from miles away, each displaying a unique technique. Some swords performed the most complex forms—a single flick unleashed dazzling sword light, evolving into vast rivers and mountains!
Some swords danced with uncanny rhythms, appearing and vanishing, some fast, some slow, each move evolving, and between techniques, even more exquisite forms emerged.
Quinn’s flying swords were many, but each was a divine art, and all his sword arts formed a whole—a part of one magnificent grand divine art.
Logan gazed in awe at the forest of swords flying overhead, Quinn’s swordsmanship revealing the near-limit beauty of Grand Sword Dao.
He cultivated the Dao through the blade, Heaven’s foremost divine blade, and saw Quinn as the lifelong rival to defeat.
He’d recalled countless times the sword Quinn used to sever his arm, and had often sparred with Supreme Sovereign Sword God Bai Quer, seeking traces of Quinn’s swordsmanship in Bai Quer’s style.
Of all who admired Quinn’s swordsmanship, only Vast-Sky Venerable and Logan did so most.
