Zhuo Minghan stared at him, his anger gradually turning cold. He said, "Go ahead. I'll be watching to see just how you'll make me 'pay dearly for this.'"
"Don't regret this!" Zhuo Jingkang roared.
"Throw them out!" Zhuo Minghan was so furious with Zhuo Jingkang that he'd lost all reason. "From now on, neither of those siblings are allowed to step foot in Loyalty Manor again!"
"Yes, sir!" The guards stepped forward, threw Zhuo Jingkang out, and tossed Wendy Zhu out as well.
...
"Zhuo Jingkang is just shameless," Rona Zhu immediately said to Grace. "It’s like you owe him something! And he expects you to take her to the Eastern Alliance for treatment? Ridiculous!"
"Exactly! If I were them, I’d be hiding my face and never showing up again," Joanna Zuo chimed in. "That debt-collecting attitude, and demanding it from you, is just shameless!"
"Yeah. Let’s not let them ruin our mood. There’s a stage over there—let’s go watch the show!" Grace called out.
...
By the stage, Grace and Chu Rongyin sat side by side.
Just as everyone was getting into the drama, Cutie Pie suddenly bounced back onto the scene.
It hopped right onto Grace’s lap, landing face-to-face with Leon Zane, who was perched on Rona Zhu’s knee.
The girls burst into laughter and chatter, showering Cutie Pie with playful greetings as soon as it returned.
But Bobby ignored their antics and turned to Leon Zane, asking, “So, what did you find out?”
“She locked me up in a cage! I only got out yesterday!” Leon Zane grumbled, sounding both frustrated and a little pitiful.
“So you didn’t discover anything useful?”
“Well, I found out where she lives,” Leon Zane replied. “She’s renting a shabby little place in the commoner’s district. She’s really broke—couldn’t even afford meat! I was practically starving!”
“Then make sure you eat extra at the banquet today!” Bobby said, grinning.
“She knows we’re from House Drake.”
“Yeah, I figured that much,” Bobby replied.
“What about her cultivation level…?”
“I could tell,” Bobby said. “Just get to the point.”
Leon Zane sighed, “I haven’t found anything important yet.”
“If you can’t figure out who they are, don’t bother coming back. Just resign yourself to being her spirit pet for life!” Cutie Pie chirped, then leapt off Grace’s lap and disappeared in a flash.
He still had to go home and drink with his father-in-law.

That day, Grace met the two suitors chosen for Rona Zhu.
Both were fairly handsome, sons from official families, but born of concubines.
Grace asked Rona Zhu which one she liked. After a moment’s hesitation and a blush, Rona Zhu picked one herself.
The one she chose was the son of a modest official from the Spirit Alliance, not quite as good-looking as the other.
But Grace thought Rona Zhu made the right choice.
That family had already split off from the main branch.
Meaning, once they got married, they’d be living on their own—a lot more freedom than sharing a crowded house with several generations.
Later, when it came to assistants, Grace went out of her way to find Bobby.
Ever since the Blue Moon Alliance dissolved, he’d been lounging around at home.
Grace asked if he’d like to join the Vermilion Spirit Alliance as her assistant.
Bobby agreed with a big smile.
Just like that, Grace had all three assistants lined up.
The next day, she brought all three resumes to the Spirit Alliance.
The President looked them over and gave the green light, instructing her to follow the usual procedures—background checks, cultivation assessments, registration, and so on…
That same day, the President called together the four Vice Presidents and six Directors, and made it official: Grace was nominated as the next President, and her name would be reported to headquarters.
“President,” Duke Winston Wood spoke up. “Grace Lawrence may be a ninth-rank Spirit Alchemist, but being President is about more than just brewing potions.
It also means training Spirit Alchemists, managing the alliance, and handling relations up and down the chain—including the court.
She’s still so young—can she really handle all that?"
