Changbai Mountain

Bang!

Under the force, the Honda's front end instantly caved in.

Gavin Luo climbed up from the ground, his face twisted with rage. He glared up at Evan Lin on the steps. "Damn it, are you trying to get yourself killed?"

Just now, when Gavin Luo gripped Evan Lin's finger, he was only using raw strength—he hadn't even tapped into his Inner Strength yet. But to his shock, he couldn't budge this scrawny kid at all!

Especially that last kick from Evan left him completely shaken—he still hadn’t recovered from the shock.

He’d never imagined that this kid in front of him could be so strong!

Gavin Luo sprang up in fury, stomping onto the steps—his foot left a deep mark. His whole body radiated a wild, dangerous aura, like a raging beast on the verge of losing control.

The owner of the Honda, whose car had just been dented, was about to get out and confront Gavin Luo. But seeing Gavin’s murderous look, he got so scared he shrank right back into his car.

"You're actually a martial artist!"

Beside them, Clark Luo shot Evan Lin a cold glare, his eyes flashing with icy intent.

His voice was especially deep and forceful, full of shock. He stared at Evan Lin, clearly hostile.

The two BMW guys beside him were still dazed. Their eyes on Evan Lin now showed more fear than anything else.

"You already lost—are you seriously trying to deny it?"

Queenie Tong reacted quickly and hurriedly stepped in front of Evan Lin, blocking Gavin Luo’s way.

Right now, Gavin Luo felt extremely dangerous—his gaze seemed almost tangible, murderous intent pouring out like a tidal wave.

Facing that stare, Queenie Tong was scared deep down, but she had no intention of backing off even half a step.

She stood there, shielding Evan Lin, her slender body trembling slightly—but her eyes were fierce and unwavering as she glared at Gavin Luo.

Evan Lin’s face stayed calm. His gaze swept over Queenie’s head and landed on Gavin Luo, who was already three steps up. Evan said coldly: "Take one more step, and I’ll take your head."

It was like a bomb went off.

That one line made Gavin Luo’s already furious face twist even more.

"I'd like to see how you plan to take my head!"

Gavin Luo barked out a furious reply, bending his knees to gather strength, ready to leap up. But just then, Rena Luo—who’d been watching coldly from the side—finally stepped forward.

She strode over and stood in front of Queenie Tong, facing Gavin Luo below. With a sigh, she said, "Bro, enough already. Queenie’s my best friend—I don’t want anyone ruining the mood!"

As she spoke, her eyes flashed sharp, and she shot Gavin Luo a glare.

"Little brother, there’s always a next time."

Clark Luo glanced deeply at Evan Lin, then spoke up.

Gavin Luo, still raging, finally heard Rena Luo and Clark Luo’s words. He took a deep breath, his furious face slowly calming, and his clenched fists gradually relaxed.

"Fine! Only for Rena’s sake, I’ll let it go today. But you—pretending to be weak when you’re actually a martial artist? That’s just pathetic!"

Gavin Luo was still hung up on what just happened.

If it weren’t for the mission they had right now, Gavin Luo would’ve gone after Evan Lin no matter what.

"Queenie, go ahead and arrange rooms for everyone. This whole mess is my fault."

Rena Luo switched to a bright smile, smoothing things over with Queenie Tong. Then she looked at Evan Lin, apologetic: "Sorry, my brother just has a bad temper. Hope you won’t take it personally."

When she looked at Evan Lin, there was a hint of a smile on her face.

Rena Luo was attractive to begin with, and her smile made her look even more radiant.

But that smile didn’t faze Evan Lin at all—he kept his expression flat, which made Rena Luo a little annoyed inside.

"He can’t stay at this hotel."

Evan Lin glanced at Rena Luo, then at Gavin Luo at the bottom of the steps, his tone unchanged.

As soon as he said it, Gavin Luo’s face turned cold. "Don’t push it!"

"Fine, fine—if you won’t let him stay, he won’t stay. Bro, you lost fair and square. I’ll find you another place nearby." Rena Luo said quickly, trying to smooth things over.

She frowned, and now her look at Evan Lin was even more annoyed—she couldn’t help thinking this guy was way too stubborn.

But remembering the real reason she was here, Rena Luo had no choice but to let it go.

"Queenie, you guys settle in first—I'll go find my brother a new place to stay."

Rena Luo greeted the group, then walked down the steps.

Clark Luo gave Evan Lin a meaningful look. "Take care of yourself."

Gavin Luo, still resentful, glared at Evan Lin and gave a cold snort before turning away.

The three of them walked out of the hotel entrance.

"Why didn’t you let me just finish him off? That punk’s just pretending. If I hadn’t let my guard down, I would’ve broken his hand!" Gavin Luo grumbled angrily.

"Even without using your Inner Strength, your raw power could break most people’s arms. Even an Inner Strength expert below mid-level wouldn’t be able to take your hit so easily. That guy isn’t as simple as he looks," Rena Luo said coolly.

"He’s at least peak Inner Strength, maybe even Pseudo-Vajra. If you go all out, you could finish him—but you’d stir up a ton of trouble too."

As soon as Rena Luo finished, Clark Luo nodded. "She’s right. If you want to kill him and vent your anger, wait until we’re done in Changbai Mountain."

"So when are we heading into Changbai Mountain?"

"According to the plan, it’s the day after tomorrow." Rena Luo checked her phone. "The family says the timing matches the Sea of Flames—if we go in then, we might find Mo Yang’s old hiding place."

"The family says the day after tomorrow is exactly the Sea of Flames time—if we go in then, we might be able to find Mo Yang’s old hideout."

Rena Luo’s gaze was firm.

"Come on, let’s get your room sorted."

Seeing Rena Luo and the others leave, Queenie Tong finally breathed a sigh of relief. She turned to Evan Lin with a smile.

She led Evan Lin to the front desk and booked him a suite.

The two BMW guys made an excuse and left, while Queenie Tong took Evan Lin upstairs.

At the door, she handed Evan Lin the room key.

It was a suite on the top floor, fully equipped inside.

"You’ll stay here—my room’s right next door. If you need anything, just call me."

"I’ll come by later and we can grab dinner together, okay?"

Queenie Tong looked hopeful, her cheeks flushing as she spoke.

"Sure."

Evan Lin wasn’t worried—when Rena Luo and the others left, he’d already sent the Three Maiden Spirits from the Soul-Sacrifice Beauty Scroll to tail them. He wasn’t afraid they’d get away.

"I’ll head downstairs—got to greet the other classmates."

With a bright smile, Queenie Tong closed the door and went downstairs.

Evan Lin set down his backpack and stood by the huge floor-to-ceiling window, his gaze drifting far off toward Changbai Mountain. In his eyes, a fire was burning.
