Elder Hubert Hu's eighth-grade immortal artifact was now fully charged, radiating a destructive aura from the Darkmoon Bow.
Patriarch Li and the others were shocked. If such an arrow struck Evan Yang, even if his soul survived, his body would be crippled.
Elder Hubert Hu sneered, "Even though we didn't catch Evan Yang today, this guy is clearly working with him. I don't know why he looks exactly like your son, but now he can't escape."
"I want to know my son's whereabouts. Please, Elder, don't kill him just yet," Patriarch Li said.
"Don't worry, I want to learn Evan Yang's whereabouts from him as well," Elder Hubert Hu replied.
Then the crowd saw Elder Hubert Hu aim the arrow directly at Evan Yang.
Evan Yang sensed a terrifying aura coming from the arrow. Elder Hubert Hu let go, and a dazzling arrow streaked through the darkness, aiming straight at Evan Yang at incredible speed.
Evan Yang knew that even a moment's hesitation would mean being struck. Without thinking, he immediately used earth-escape.
When the crowd saw Evan Yang use earth-escape, Elder Hubert Hu snorted, "Earth-escape? You think that'll work? If this were an ordinary arrow, maybe."
Then everyone watched as the arrowhead actually turned, following wherever Evan Yang escaped, like a homing arrow.
Evan Yang was shocked. Seeing the arrow about to hit him, he kept diving deeper underground, hoping the earth would absorb some of its power.
But the arrow's power was immense and its speed was terrifying. Even as its force diminished, to Evan Yang it was still a deadly shot.
"No, this arrow is too strange," Evan Yang thought in alarm, then split into multiple clones.
To his surprise, the arrow still followed Evan Yang, shocking him further. He wondered what kind of bow could produce such a terrifying arrow.
But there was no time to hesitate. Without further thought, he dove straight into his tower artifact.
The arrow struck the tower. Inside, Evan Yang only felt a violent tremor, then everything went quiet. Using his divine sense, he saw the destructive power of that arrow.
If he hadn't entered the tower in time, Evan Yang was sure he would have been crippled if not killed.
After leaving the tower, Evan Yang continued earth-escape, moving far away from that area.
Above ground, Elder Hubert Hu's brows knitted tighter and tighter. The earth had trembled just now, which must have taken enormous energy, but he knew he hadn't actually struck his target.
"Elder Hubert Hu, how is it?" Patriarch Li asked in shock, seeing such power.
"I failed," Elder Hubert Hu said.
"Failed? How is that possible?" Patriarch Li exclaimed in shock.
"I don't know what kind of artifact he used to block the attack," Elder Hubert Hu said.
"What kind of artifact has that kind of power? It's terrifying," Patriarch Li muttered, unwilling to believe it. Even standing to the side, he had felt the terrifying aura.
Elder Hubert Hu shook his head. "I don't know either, but I'm very curious."
"Elder, should we use that?" Ming Cong asked.
"Use it. We originally prepared it for Evan Yang, but this guy also has earth-attribute powers. Do you really think I'll let him escape like Evan Yang did?" Elder Hubert Hu snorted.
Ming Cong nodded, then took out a black insect. It looked hideous, but its origins were extraordinary.
"Tuli Beast!" Patriarch Li exclaimed in shock.
"That's right. It's nearly fully grown and its power rivals that of an Immortal Lord. It's also incredibly fast underground. We originally prepared it for Evan Yang—now, just watch." Elder Hubert Hu sneered. With that, Ming Cong released the beast onto the ground.
Under Ming Cong's control, the Tuli Beast sped underground, quickly arriving beneath where Evan Yang had been struck, then continued tracking his aura in the direction he disappeared.
"How is it going?" Elder Hubert Hu asked Ming Cong. The Tuli Beast was linked to its controller, so whatever it saw, Ming Cong could see as well.
Ming Cong replied, "He's fast, but we're almost caught up."
"Who is this kid, anyway? Why did he impersonate your young master, and what is his connection to Evan Yang?" Elder Hubert Hu wondered aloud.
Patriarch Li was even more anxious, still wondering where his own son had gone.
Evan Yang naturally sensed the danger behind him. What he needed now was to shake off that strange beast, not get entangled—otherwise, if Elder Hubert Hu and the others above noticed, escaping would become much harder.
But he still couldn't outrun the Tuli Beast. Soon, the palm-sized beast appeared behind Evan Yang and instantly created a pocket-space underground, trapping him inside a spatial barrier.
"You're really persistent," Evan Yang said, stopping to face the beast.
The Tuli Beast seemed excited and let out a howl.
"Howling won't help you. Since you followed me here, I won't hold back," Evan Yang said.
Challenged, the Tuli Beast howled even louder.
It then used its barrier, combined with its small size and strength, to trap Evan Yang tightly.
"Damn, I can't outrun it, and now I'm trapped. If this keeps up, I'll be in trouble—especially with those old guys watching from above," Evan Yang muttered.
Seeing Evan Yang trapped, the Tuli Beast grew even more excited.
Above ground, Ming Cong observed the situation inside and smiled. "We've found him."
"Excellent. Who here has earth-attribute powers? Open a path so we can go down and watch," Elder Hubert Hu said.
Everyone looked at each other until a Li clan guard stepped forward. He had earth-attribute powers and, following Ming Cong's directions, opened a path and led the group underground.
At that moment, Evan Yang was trying to find a way to shake off the beast, knowing that staying trapped would only harm him further.
"Hmph, don't think you can keep me trapped until your master arrives!" Evan Yang snorted.
The Tuli Beast howled again.
