Evan Chu glanced at Luna Chu and grinned, "Luna, that's not something I can help you with. Matters of the heart are up to you. You don't trust your own charm? With your figure and face, anyone would be interested—and with how big you are there, any man would like it!"
Luna Chu lowered her head to look at her own impressive assets and said, "Is it really that big? I don't feel like it. Are you trying to fool me?"
Evan Chu laughed, "You don't believe me? Then let me feel for myself—maybe the touch is really nice. Then I can give you an accurate answer!"
"Are you looking for death? How dare you flirt with your own cousin!" Luna Chu snapped angrily. This guy was getting more and more outrageous.
"Haha, I'm just messing with you—why take it so seriously? And why do you get to be the older cousin? I remember you used to call me 'big brother.' Just because some parts of you got bigger, you made me call you 'sis'?" Evan Chu said with a mischievous grin.
"I'm done arguing with you. Just don't forget what I said—keep it in mind." Luna Chu glared at Evan, then left the room and shut the door behind her.
Evan Chu saw it was still early, so he stepped out, intending to find Selena for a chat. He hadn't reached her room yet when he saw her already walking toward him.
"Come on, I'll take you somewhere," Evan Chu said with a smile.
"I knew you'd say that. I'm actually curious to see what kind of small place could produce someone as monstrous as you," Selena replied.
The two of them left the City Lord's Mansion and strolled down the main street. When the townsfolk saw Evan Chu, it was as if they were seeing a demon—everyone scrambled to get out of his way.
"Looks like your reputation for ferocity is widespread. Did you do something bad here in the past?" Selena joked.
"Bad things? There were a few. Flirting with respectable women—does that count? Peeking at girls bathing—does that count?" Evan Chu said. In reality, he'd always been pretty well-behaved, so if people were acting this way, it was definitely because of the killings at the City Lord's Mansion.
"So you really aren't a good person—doing things like that. Looks like I misjudged you," Selena said with mock annoyance, though inside she was amused. 'As if I don't know what kind of person he is. If he really were like that, would I still be a virgin?'
"Haha, let's go! Flowing Cloud City may be small, but it's lively. You know, I found my little Shadow here," Evan Chu said.
That line clearly surprised Selena. For an ancient Bloodshadow Berserker Lion egg to show up in a place like this was truly odd. She couldn't help but say, "This really is a feng-shui blessed land. Let's see if there are any other treasures around today."
Street vendors were still calling out in the afternoon, and Evan Chu and Selena stopped in front of a stall that had drawn quite a crowd.
Most of the items laid out were ordinary, but a small green heart-shaped stone stood out, catching everyone's eye. Its heart-like shape and emerald color made it look especially pretty.
Just then, a young woman and a richly dressed youth squeezed into the crowd. The girl spotted the green stone and immediately said to the boy, "Harold Zhu, I want that green stone. Hurry up and buy it for me."
Harold Zhu glanced at her and said, "What's so special about a random rock? I'll take you to pick out some agate jewelry later—that's way better than this."
Selena also noticed the green stone and said to Evan Chu, "Looks like our luck is pretty good—we actually ran into a Verdant Radiance Stone here. This kind of stone is extremely mystical and can greatly boost a person's mental and soul strength."
"Is it really that good? Then I have to buy it!" Evan Chu said.
"How much for the green stone? Name your price—I'll buy it!" Evan Chu said to the stall owner.
"Hey, I saw that green stone first. If anyone's buying it, it's me!" Sophia Lin immediately protested when she heard someone else wanted to buy it.
As soon as she spoke, she saw that the person bidding was Evan Chu. For a moment, she was stunned—she hadn't expected to run into him here. She remembered how, back at his house, he chose the supposedly ugly, veiled Roxanne Lin over her, which still made her furious.
"Evan Chu, you criminal—how dare you show your face here! You must have some nerve!" Sophia Lin said.
"Sophia Lin, why isn't your belly getting bigger? Is your man not up to the task? By the way, I've been gone for a year—did you two ever get married? If not, your little brother here can still prepare a nice wedding gift." Evan Chu replied, his words cold and sharp.
His words stung. Sophia Lin glanced behind Evan Chu and saw a veiled woman. Realizing their relationship wasn't ordinary, she immediately said, "Evan Chu, you're no prize either. First you took a weird, ugly fiancée who needed a veil, and now your new woman is also veiled. Are all your women too ugly to show their faces?"
Selena just laughed, her voice like silver bells. "You must be Sophia Lin, right? You sure have a sharp tongue. I don't claim peerless beauty, but I'm definitely prettier than you."
Sophia Lin replied, "If you're so great, take off your veil—why act all mysterious? Nobody here is impressed by your act."
Evan Chu laughed, "Go ahead and take it off. From now on, don't bother wearing it—no need to invite jealousy."
Selena removed her veil, revealing a face of breathtaking beauty. The crowd was stunned—some people couldn't help but stare.
"Wow, she's gorgeous! She could rival Lady Sima Jingyi. Now that's a true beauty!" someone in the crowd exclaimed.
Sophia Lin was shocked by Selena's beauty—she never imagined this woman would be so stunning. It felt like a slap to her own pride.
"Hey, how much for that stone? I'm ready to buy it," Sophia Lin said, knowing she couldn't match Selena's looks but confident in her companion's wealth.
"Twenty Spirit Stones!" the vendor replied.
"That cheap? I'll give you a hundred Spirit Stones—sell it to me instead," Evan Chu said at once.
Sophia Lin frowned and said to Harold Zhu, "Today you have to get me that green stone—otherwise, you'll lose face."
Harold Zhu looked at Evan Chu and said, "Kid, you'd better not compete with me in wealth. You'll only embarrass yourself. Consider this your warning."
"Oh, is that so? Then I want to see how you'll embarrass me. If I recall, your woman already lost face once today—let's see if you'll follow in her footsteps," Evan Chu said with a laugh.
Harold Zhu was instantly furious. "I'll pay five hundred Spirit Stones for that green stone!"
Five hundred Spirit Stones was a huge sum in a small city like Flowing Cloud City. Hearing Harold Zhu shout out such a number, the surrounding crowd was shocked.
Everyone waited to see what Evan Chu, the city's most notorious figure, would do next. Evan Chu smiled and said, "Five hundred Spirit Stones—quite the generous offer!"
Harold Zhu laughed, "Now you see I'm not someone you can provoke!"
Selena smiled knowingly, certain Evan Chu was about to make a bold move.
