Matchmaking with Stephen Song

1/4/2026

Just as they arrived at the hotel entrance, they had to wait a little while because of the parking situation.

No choice—the place was just too popular.

Anywhere that’s this busy, parking is always a headache.

So Julia Yu had no choice but to wait for a spot to open up before she could park.

While she was waiting, another car pulled up, aiming for the same parking spot.

The two cars ended up facing off for the spot.

Talk about awkward.

Lisa Li saw what was happening and immediately protested, "Hey, hey, hey, that's our spot!"

"Sorry, I didn’t see you guys," said the driver—a very refined-looking man, full of apologies. "I’ll wait for the next spot."

But Julia Yu waved her hand and said, "I got here after you. This spot is yours. You were already about to reverse in, and I just showed up, so you don’t need to make way for me."

Lisa Li overheard and immediately pulled Julia Yu aside. "Hey, what do you mean by that? There are so few parking spots here—why should you let him have it? Besides, he's a man. What's the big deal if he waits a little longer? We clearly saw this spot first! Ever heard of 'ladies first'?"

The man smiled and gestured politely to Julia Yu. "Please, go ahead."

Julia Yu got annoyed and replied to Lisa Li, "'Ladies first' is for emergencies, when a man acts like a gentleman. Right now, it's just waiting a few minutes—no need to pull that card. Men and women are equals. Just because someone lets you go first doesn't mean you can do whatever you want just because you're a woman! This gentleman was here three minutes before us. He saw the spot first and was already positioning his car to park when we turned up. So I’m not taking this spot!"

After saying that, Julia Yu turned to the man across from her. "Sir, I’m really sorry for wasting your time. Please park here, I’ll look for another spot."

With that, Julia Yu drove away from the spot.

Lisa Li sat in the passenger seat, full of sarcasm. "Julia Yu, did you fall for that guy or something? How could you give up such a good spot?"

"Lisa Li, I’m not your mom, I have no obligation to teach you how to behave," Julia said coldly. "But as long as I’m around, learn to be independent and respect others."

Lisa Li’s face darkened. "Julia Yu, are you saying I have no manners?"

Julia didn’t deny it, giving her a cool glance. "Lisa Li, if it weren’t for Mr. Mo protecting you, how long do you think you could act this arrogant? Mr. Mo tolerates you because of your dad, but don’t forget, he’s got plenty to deal with. Sooner or later, you’ll have to live on your own…"

"Ha, thanks for your concern, but I don’t need it!" Lisa Li shot Julia a defiant look. "I’m going to be the Mo Family’s young lady someday. Zach Mo will protect me for life! I’ll always be better than you, even in death."

Julia Yu just smiled indifferently, finally finding a parking spot. She calmly parked the car, unbuckled her seatbelt, and said to Lisa Li, "Whatever you think about Mr. Mo, if you mess up today’s matchmaking, I won’t hesitate to report it to him. Your dream of being the Mo Family’s young lady might be shattered before it even starts."

"Julia Yu, do your parents know how much you hate them?" Lisa Li’s chest heaved with anger.

"Of course," Julia answered naturally. "That’s why I cut ties with them! Anything else you want to say?"

"You…" Lisa Li felt like she just couldn’t win with Julia Yu.

Why is it that every time she talks to Julia Yu, she ends up speechless and frustrated?

Lawyers really are the most annoying!

Lisa Li knew she couldn’t out-argue Julia Yu, so she got out of the car angrily and walked ahead.

Julia Yu grabbed her bag and followed, leading Lisa Li according to the elevator signs until they reached the agreed-upon restaurant.

As soon as they stepped off the elevator, a message came through: "Room changed to 203."

Julia Yu replied immediately, "Got it, we’ll be there soon."

Lisa Li saw the message and pouted. "Why do we have to change rooms? It’s not like we’re not paying!"

"There must be another reason for the room change," Julia Yu explained patiently. "It’s just a quiet place to have a meal. Since you don’t even want to be here for the matchmaking, why not just focus on eating? Do you want a peaceful meal or a noisy one?"

"I…" Lisa Li was at a loss for words again, growing more and more annoyed with Julia Yu.

Julia Yu led Lisa Li to room 203. Just as they knocked, they both looked up and froze.

"It’s you?!" they exclaimed in unison, then burst out laughing.

Turns out, the man Lisa Li was supposed to meet for matchmaking was the same guy they’d just argued with over the parking spot.

Stephen Song immediately stood up and offered a handshake to Julia Yu. "Stephen Song."

"Julia Yu." Julia shook his hand and introduced, "This is Miss Lisa Li."

"Pleasure to meet you." Stephen Song extended his hand to Lisa Li, but she just rolled her eyes. Stephen awkwardly withdrew his hand and, pretending nothing happened, invited them to sit. "What would you like to eat?"

"I’m fine with anything. She doesn’t eat cilantro or chives," Julia Yu said, almost reciting Lisa Li’s preferences by heart.

"Alright." Stephen Song glanced at the out-of-sorts Lisa Li, already getting the picture.

He hadn’t wanted to come to this matchmaking, but his uncle kept persuading him, and his parents kept pushing.

Plus, the match was someone close to Mr. Mo.

He had to show Mr. Mo some respect.

So he showed up.

But now, he was starting to regret it.

This Lisa Li was a handful—nothing like the lady sitting next to her.

Hmm, that lady must be a career woman—decisive, sharp, smart, reserved, principled, talented, and confident… If she were the one he was supposed to meet, he’d actually consider it.

Oh, and she had great taste too.

Even though her bag was just a plain briefcase, the ring on her finger was a handmade piece called 'Ideal' by a famous artist. He thought he owned two pieces by the same artist, tucked away in his attic.

She wasn’t dressed fancy, but her aura was strong. That calm confidence came from within—not the kind you fake with clothes.

She took good care of herself, wore light makeup—perfect for work. She didn’t come off as intimidating, but people wanted to talk to her.

There was a hint of fatigue at the end of her brows—was it work stress, or just the hassle of handling Lisa Li’s matchmaking?

Stephen Song hadn’t realized it, but even though it was their first meeting, he was already noticing a lot about her.

Julia Yu sensed Stephen Song’s attention and looked up at him.

Stephen Song gave Julia Yu a straightforward smile, openly admiring her.

Julia Yu felt a little embarrassed, just smiled back and lowered her head.

Lisa Li was getting restless, but had no choice but to sit there. She looked around, trying to figure things out.

When Julia Yu went to the restroom, Lisa Li finally seized the chance and asked Stephen Song, "Are you interested in Julia Yu?"

Stephen Song was mature enough not to let a young woman get under his skin. He replied calmly, "Julia Yu is an excellent lawyer. My uncle says she’s incredibly capable. She started out as a junior lawyer and is now a qualified executive assistant—all earned by real talent and hard work."

Lisa Li scoffed, "You don’t have to deny it. Julia Yu isn’t ugly, so of course men like her. But let me tell you, she’s not as perfect as you think."

Lisa Li gave a malicious smile. "She’s really not that great."

"Is that so?" Stephen Song responded coolly.

"Ha, you can ask around about her. She sold her eggs when she was young, and now she’s trying to use that to climb into a rich family. Think about it—there are so many hard-working people out there, why would Zach Mo pick her to work by his side? Obviously there’s a reason. Her character isn’t great either—she’s always hanging out with men, claiming it’s work, but who knows what she’s really doing? How could a woman climb so high so fast? I bet she’s trading on her looks…" Lisa Li kept smearing Julia Yu, venting all her pent-up resentment.

Stephen Song interrupted, "Miss Li, did you graduate from college?"

"Yeah," Lisa Li said, confused. "What does that have to do with anything?"

"If you graduated, you should know the consequences of slander," Stephen Song said lightly. "Especially when you’re slandering someone right in front of them."

Lisa Li sensed trouble. She followed Stephen Song’s gaze and saw Julia Yu standing behind her, expressionless.

Lisa Li jumped up, knocking over her glass and spilling it on her dress.

"Julia Yu, I…" Lisa Li stammered, unable to get the words out.

Julia Yu shook her phone. "I recorded everything you just said. Lisa Li, I reserve the right to sue you, and next time, I might just collect interest."

"I—I—I…" Lisa Li was so nervous she couldn’t speak.

"Go reflect on yourself in the restroom," Julia Yu said coolly. "You’re embarrassing Mr. Mo right now."

Lisa Li’s face burned with embarrassment. She hung her head and rushed off to the restroom.

Julia Yu sat down calmly. "Sorry for wasting your time."

"Not at all." Stephen Song shook his head. He didn’t think today was a waste at all.

Meeting Julia Yu was the best thing that happened to him.
