When Did General Evan Xiao Meet Grace
Samuel Sun is Sophie Sun's biological elder brother.
Could it be that Sophie Sun put her up to this?
And if Sophie Sun did put her up to it... then the goal wasn’t to kill Grace.
After all, Sophie Sun has faced off against Grace before—she knows Grace is quick enough to dodge.
If it’s not to kill her, then what’s the real motive?
Could it be... they just wanted her to panic and accidentally reveal she’s a Spirit Practitioner?
But what good would that do for Sophie Sun?
Grace couldn’t figure it out.
Meanwhile, Minister Zhuo kept pressing Samuel Sun about why he tried to kill Grace, but Samuel just stubbornly refused to answer.
When he finally did say something, he claimed it was just a coincidence, that his hand slipped or something.
Since Grace wasn’t hurt, Colin Gu gave the order—following General Evan Shaw’s command—to strip Samuel Sun of his military rank and ban him from future service. He was escorted out of the banquet, and that settled the matter.
After Samuel Sun was taken away, Colin Gu looked at Evan Xiao and said, "General, I didn’t expect you’d already reached the ninth rank!"
Evan Xiao nodded slightly. "I just broke through to the ninth rank the other day. Haven’t had a chance to report to Your Majesty yet."
"That’s wonderful!" Colin Gu smiled. "Come, let me toast you!"
The emperor and general shared a drink. Then, Colin Gu casually remarked, "But General Evan Shaw usually doesn’t meddle in other people’s business. I’m surprised you stepped in this time."
Evan Xiao replied coolly, "It wasn’t someone else’s business."
"Oh?" Colin Gu raised an eyebrow. "So, when did General Evan Shaw get to know Grace?"
Evan Xiao answered, "What I meant was, Samuel Sun is one of my officers."
Colin Gu paused, then smiled. "General Evan Shaw runs a tight ship. That’s very reassuring to me."
"Thank you, Your Majesty."

After finishing their lavish dinner, everyone headed back to their own tents.
Grace’s tent was pretty spacious, clean, and the bed was super soft—she was definitely getting VIP treatment.
She opened her bundle, planning to wash up, but immediately spotted the kneepads Sierra had made for her.
Sierra was amazing at needlework—even though she was pressed for time, every stitch was perfect.
Grace picked up the kneepads with a sigh, told Xi’er to watch the tent, and took Hope with her to find Kevin Zhuo.
She figured that since Kevin Zhuo was one of the security officers, he wouldn’t be heading back to his tent so early.
Sure enough, after a lap around the tent area, it didn’t take long for them to spot him.
He was busy giving instructions to two soldiers.
Once he finished, he started walking toward the tent area.
"Hey, Miss, why’d you toss those kneepads?" Hope suddenly spoke up. "Weren’t those the ones Aunt Sierra asked you to bring to the Second Young Master?"
Kevin Zhuo froze, hid behind a dirt mound, and peeked out—under the lamplight, he could see it was Grace and her maid, Hope.
Grace replied, "That brainless idiot of a woman—why bother with her? I only agreed to help because I was tired of seeing her look so pitiful!"
"She really is pitiful—Aunt Wan made her kneel, she nearly lost her baby, but she’s still thinking about the Second Young Master and made him these beautiful kneepads. How about we just give them to him for her?"
"Why bother? Just toss them! Honestly, I hope Sierra’s baby doesn’t make it!"
"Why’s that?" Hope asked.
"Think about it! Kevin Zhuo already acts like he’s better than everyone else! If he really has a firstborn son, he’ll strut around like he owns the place. He’s just a concubine’s kid—who wants to see him act like the head of the family!"
