Chapter 726: Silent Trap

Seth was the first to falter. Hubert’s booming voice made him feel as if dozens of enraged dragons were roaring inside his skull—his head grew foggy, blood began to seep from his ears, and dazzling golden stars danced before his eyes.

In less than two seconds, Seth collapsed to the ground, clutching his ears and convulsing, a miserable scream tearing from his throat.

The others were in no better shape. Elsa’s pale skin flushed as red as boiled shrimp; she hunched over, hands pressed to her ears, her face contorted in agony.

Even Reina the Frost Dragon was trembling, brow furrowed, hands clamped over her ears.

The moment Seth screamed, Hubert was the next to fall, shrieking as he collapsed, pounding his own head with wild fists, blood streaming from his ears, his eyes nearly bursting...

"Stop screaming, stop! I can't take it anymore—my head's going to explode..."

Hubert dropped to his knees, rolling on the ground like a madman.

Leon’s eyes were vacant, his face twisted in pain. Thunderous noise crashed in his skull; he couldn’t hear a thing, as if every sound had been forcibly crammed into his mind. All he could see were swirling golden stars.

Even the magic within him was boiling over from the cacophony, completely out of his control. Clutching his ears, Leon fought to suppress his rampaging mana, desperately chanting a spell. It took him a full three seconds to finally cast a Silence Barrier.

A transparent barrier over two meters tall shimmered into existence around Leon, and instantly the thunderous explosions in his mind vanished.

Seth groaned in pain, Hubert screamed like a madman, and Reina let out a deep, guttural roar...

All sounds seemed to fade, becoming mere whispers that brushed past their ears.

Leon’s face was pale as he swiftly waved his dragon staff, casting Silence Barriers over the group.

Thin, transparent membranes enveloped their bodies, and only then did the suffering group finally fall silent.

Wisps of smoke drifted from the Arcane Wheel as Anderson’s form re-coalesced, glancing around nervously before floating to Leon’s side.

"Damn it, what’s going on? Why did the sound suddenly get so loud? I couldn’t even hold my form—almost got blasted apart!"

All three of Anderson’s faces showed a trace of fear—the sound was so overwhelming, it nearly shattered his consciousness. It was just noise, not even an offensive spell, yet it had such power. Anderson couldn’t make sense of it.

Leon’s expression darkened as he muttered, "Stay alert. The Silence Barriers must stay up—this place is too strange."

But as soon as Leon finished speaking, his face changed abruptly—he suddenly realized that even after casting the Silence Barrier, he could still hear everyone talking, though their voices sounded distant and faint.
