He Was Probably a Rune Master in the Past

Grace had no idea what Ray was about to do. Suddenly, a flash of red light flickered inside the magical bubble—like lightning wrapped in flames—and the Spirit Beast was instantly reduced to black ash.

The bubble burst, and the ashes drifted to the ground.

Grace stared at Ray, utterly stunned.

What a terrifying dragon clan!

He can kill such a giant Spirit Beast just by blowing a bubble.

Ray blinked his big, adorable eyes, looking completely innocent.

......

That day, as Grace was leaving the Spirit Alliance, she was delighted to find Shannon waiting at the gate.

"Shannon, what are you doing here?"

"Waiting for you!" Shannon replied mischievously, flashing a playful smile.

"Why didn’t you just use a communication talisman to find me?" Grace asked. "Having the noble princess herself wait here for me—won’t that ruin my reputation?"

"I was afraid of disturbing you! You’re the hottest Young Miracle Healer in all of Sigil City!"

Grace laughed and took her hand. "So, is there something you need from me?"

"Absolutely not," Shannon replied. "I just wanted to see your place and get to know the door."

Grace pursed her lips. "My master doesn’t live with us!"

Shannon raised her hand to playfully swat her, feigning annoyance. "I came to see you! Who cares where your master lives!"

"Haha!" Grace laughed, holding Shannon’s hand as they headed home together.

Once they arrived, Shannon nodded approvingly. "This house is really nice! It’s close to the Spirit Alliance, and the feng shui is fantastic."

"My aunt found the place," Grace said.

"Your aunt’s here too?"

"There they are!" Grace pointed to Maya Summers and Mr. Yuan, who were busy playing with piles of stones in the garden.

After coming to Sigil City, Maya tried every possible way to find Shen Sui.

Whenever she had free time, she and Mr. Yuan would play with stone piles together.

She kept insisting it was a spell array. But to Grace, it just looked like a messy pile of rocks.

Shannon’s eyes narrowed slightly when she saw them. "What are they doing?" she asked.

Grace sighed. "That old man’s mind... isn’t quite right. He spends all day dragging my aunt around to play with those stones. And my aunt, for some reason, insists he’s setting up a spell array! Now she’s just as crazy as he is."

Shannon walked over and studied the stone array on the ground. "It really is a spell array. The formation isn’t strong, but it’s definitely a simple spell array."

Maya brightened and stood up happily. "Miss Shannon, you think it’s a spell array too?"

"Mm-hmm," Shannon said. "Did you set this up yourself?"

"Mr. Yuan taught me," Maya replied.

Mr. Yuan noticed Shannon and immediately messed up the stone array, shaking his head at Maya Summers. "I only teach Maya, not anyone else."

"Fine, fine! Don’t teach—just go on home!" Maya said.

"And don’t teach her either. Our family’s secrets aren’t for outsiders."

"Alright, secrets stay in the family," Maya agreed.

After Mr. Yuan left, Maya apologized, "Mr. Yuan’s mind isn’t quite right... Sorry if he made you laugh!"

Shannon shook her head. "If I’m not mistaken, he used to be a Rune Master."

"Oh? What makes you think so?"

"He has the unique aura of a Rune Master," Shannon said. "It’s faint now, but back when his mind was clear, I’m sure he was a Rune Master."

"I see..." Grace nodded.

If a Spirit Alchemist stood in front of her, Grace could also tell by their aura, scent, and the calluses from practicing golden needles that they were a Spirit Alchemist.

Surely, for a Rune Master, that feeling would be even stronger.
