Corpse State 2

12/15/2025

"To stand against the Wraithlord, there was no other way. There are no zombies with Golden Soulstones left in the Corpse Realm—they've all been absorbed by Tan Tian."

"I'm entrusting it to you, Rachel Lan. My Golden Soulstone!"

Tan Tian said this, and I looked at him in confusion.

Luo Yichen is missing, Luo Yu is dead, Morgan Shen is with Luantian Xuekui, Lance Quinn is in Netherhell, and Eugene Henderson is with the Ghost Burial Squad. The other four Feather Generals are still missing.

Tan Tian nodded. At this moment, Luna Quay's expression grew serious. Watching Luna Quay, I couldn't shake the feeling that he hadn't lost all his emotions. His expression was so natural, unlike other revenants who appeared stiff. Lance Quinn, for example, was a bit much—his mannerisms were exaggerated and artificial.

"Miss Lan, the reason I'm about to disappear is that the Yin-side version of me in the shadow world has already perished."

I looked at Luna Quay with a grave expression; he smiled lightly and shook his head.

"It's no one's fault. It's just nature. The reason I haven't lost all my emotions is because I'm still somewhat connected to James Grant. In fact, I have to thank Wraithshade for that."

I looked at Luna Quay, puzzled. He explained that long ago, after Wraithshade obtained his soul, he began refining ghosts—with James Grant's corpse included in the process.

Wraithshade intended to place the newly refined ghost version of James Grant into his corpse, hoping to create a new kind of ghost. At this point, I immediately thought of Mason Yu and stared at Luna Quay in confusion.

At that time, Wraithshade forcibly used his power to thrust James Grant's soul directly into his corpse—or rather, to suppress it inside. For two long years, James Grant was imprisoned, tormented daily within his own body. He couldn't escape, nor could he control it.

Around this time, the war in Ji's territory was coming to an end. Tan Tian found James Grant, revealed everything to him, and took away his corpse. Wraithshade didn't know Tan Tian had taken the body; he assumed it had simply decayed. Tan Tian used his power to cover his tracks and told James Grant that Wraithshade wanted Yuna Ji's soul. So James Grant didn't leave—he stayed by Wraithshade's side.

Tan Tian told James Grant of a way to counter Wraithshade, but it would cost him his life. Without hesitation, James Grant knelt before Tan Tian and begged him to look after Yuna Ji.

Tan Tian agreed. Though he was a revenant and had no heart, he still promised his disciple James Grant—whom he had raised himself—to grant his request.

Later, when Wraithshade tried to kill Yuna Ji and take her soul, James Grant subdued him. With her last ounce of strength, Yuna Ji pierced Wraithshade's heart as James Grant had instructed. Though it didn't kill him, it left him gravely wounded, and it took a thousand years before he gradually recovered.

I had heard bits and pieces about what happened afterward. Yuna Ji ended up in Netherhell. Because she spent her final moments fighting, her soul was supposed to reincarnate, but the Underworld Court noticed something strange—her body had split into two souls.

I stared in shock, eyes wide.

"At that time, Yuna's body really did split into two souls, something the Underworld Court had never seen before. They let her reincarnate, hoping to separate the two souls. But driven by obsession, Yuna crawled up on the banks of the river connecting Netherhell and, through a crack in the cliff, entered Netherhell itself."

I nodded. At that moment, a hint of sorrow passed over Luna Quay's face.

"She's doing well now!"

I said, and Luna Quay smiled and nodded.

Tan Tian kept his promise to James Grant. He found Yuna Ji in Netherhell, but by then she'd lost her mind. She was digging with her bare hands, though no one knew what for. Tan Tian simply watched in silence and brought Luna Quay, who still retained a trace of emotion, to her side.

With Tan Tian and Luna Quay caring for her, Yuna Ji finally regained her senses, and a certain power within her began to awaken. Tan Tian started working with Yuna Ji, sensing her abilities might help the Corpse Realm. He became her secret supporter.

Yuna Ji then went to the Living World, causing chaos like the other evil ghosts. In the end, they were all captured because Yuna Ji planned to use the Underworld Court to eliminate her rivals. She worked with Quentin Kue, leading to all the other Ghost Sovereigns being caught.

"So, when things happened with Luo Yichen and the Luo Family, you two were always in Netherhell?"

I asked, and Tan Tian nodded.

"We were helping Yuna build her city in Netherhell. Her power could affect the souls of those killed in war, and a small path was opened from the River of Forgetfulness to Netherhell. But Yuna wouldn't listen to advice; I told her clearly it wasn't the right time, but she insisted on eliminating her rivals among the evil ghosts while she had the chance."

The Underworld Court agreed to Yuna Ji's request, but she naively believed them. In the end, all seven Ghost Sovereigns were sent to Abyssal Hell. After much effort, they finally escaped, but by then the Living World was in chaos—the Corpse Realm, Arcane Society, and the Immortality Society were all on the brink of war.

The Seven Ghost Sovereigns saw through everything. After the fierce conflict between the Corpse Realm and the Arcane Society, they emerged from hiding and claimed supremacy. The Underworld Court was powerless to stop them.

"I'll make sure he can't disturb the Yin-Yang World. I don't know how long I can hold him, but while I'm fighting him, I'll use my Golden Soulstone to tell you about the Wraithlord's situation, Rachel Lan."

"Things have reached this point. They should attack soon—they can't wait any longer."

Luna Quay's tone grew serious as he spoke. I nodded. Thinking back, Emperor God and his allies had planned for so long, and their initial attack had already put the Underworld Court, Ghost Sovereigns, and members of the Arcane Society in a dire predicament. I can't imagine what further plans they have, but the Living World can't be defended.

"Aren't you planning to do something about it?"

I asked. I didn't know how many troops the Corpse Realm had, but if zombies joined the battle, it would be to our advantage. Tan Tian shook his head and looked up.

"I've already taken most of the Golden Soulstones from the zombies."

I stared in shock. Luna Quay explained.

"To stand against the Wraithlord, there was no other way. There are no zombies with Golden Soulstones left in the Corpse Realm—they've all been absorbed by Tan Tian."

I swallowed.

"What about General Feather?"

Luo Yichen is missing, Luo Yu is dead, Morgan Shen is with Luantian Xuekui, Lance Quinn is in Netherhell, and Eugene Henderson is with the Ghost Burial Squad. The other four Feather Generals are still missing.

I looked at Tan Tian with a heavy expression.

"If the Wraithlord really appears, how confident are you that you can defeat him?"

Tan Tian shook his head.

"I can't defeat him—I can only hold him off. But this time, he won't give us any chance. His three souls have gathered power for tens of thousands of years; he's completely different now, much stronger than before. Still, there is a chance."

Tan Tian looked at me as he spoke.

"John Chou has probably planned everything. In your body, the mutated Bloodshade power is starting to merge with your own abilities. This is likely John Chou's trump card!"

I swallowed.

"John Chou is still trapped in the underground palace. Should we go..."

Tan Tian shook his head.

"Even if we went, we couldn't do anything. If John Chou wants to get out, he'll find a way. If he hasn't come out, there must be another reason."

I gave a helpless laugh and nodded. Thinking about it, that guy always works in secret; even if he tells you something, it's only thirty percent—the other seventy percent you'll only find out after it's all over.

"Alright, Tan Tian, you can leave now. I'll make all the necessary preparations here."

Tan Tian nodded. I noticed Luna Quay's smile was a bit stiff as he stood up.

"What are you planning to do here?"

Luna Quay shook his head.

"That's none of your business, Miss Lan."

As he spoke, Tan Tian raised a finger, and instantly a cave appeared at the edge of the floating island. Tan Tian stepped inside first.

I glanced back at Luna Quay; he was still smiling gently.

"Are you planning to use yourself as bait?"

I asked, and after a moment's hesitation, Luna Quay nodded.

"If the Wraithlord is resurrected, he'll come for me first. He has to eliminate the clan chief before he can fight the Ten Judges and the Ghost Sovereigns."

"Don't you have even a little..."

I looked at Tan Tian, my heart a swirling mix of emotions.

"Don't think it's wrong, Rachel Lan. I've considered this for a long time—someone has to do it. If the Wraithlord really is resurrected and secretly doing things we can't see, we'll be completely unprepared. But if we know where he is..."

Luna Quay didn't finish his sentence; instead, he looked at Tan Tian.

"I'll make sure he can't disturb the world of Yin and Yang. I don't know how long I can hold him, but while I'm fighting him, I'll use my Corpse Jade to tell you about the Wraithlord's situation, Rachel Lan."

I swallowed, and Tan Tian continued.

"When the time comes, just use the information from my fight with the Wraithlord to help everyone figure out a strategy. I'll keep testing the Wraithlord's powers—he has ten thousand ways to use them, and you'll need to find ten thousand ways to counter him!"
