Preparing to Return

1/19/2026

After Evan Chu unleashed this strike, space itself twisted violently, and a rift was torn open. The Golden Skeleton was utterly stunned by the force of the attack—he couldn’t understand how Evan, so grievously wounded, could still unleash such terrifying power.

Regret came too late. All he could do was unleash every bone spur he had left to try and withstand this overwhelming blow, praying he could somehow block it.

After unleashing that strike, Evan felt utterly drained, his body hollow and teetering on the edge of collapse. But he refused to fall from the sky—he had to see the Golden Skeleton die to his Ninefold Divine-Dragon Metamorphosis with his own eyes.

The Golden Skeleton’s bone spurs exploded as usual, sending a storm of powerful energy everywhere. But this time was different—Evan’s sword qi instantly shattered it. The metal-element energy didn’t even touch Evan before vanishing without a trace.

Evan’s sword qi surged forward like a battering ram, crashing toward the Golden Skeleton. Though some of it was neutralized by the metal-element energy, the rest struck his massive body dead-on.

"No!" The Golden Skeleton screamed in terror. He couldn’t believe his bone spurs were utterly useless—like mere decorations, broken apart without even scratching the enemy before vanishing. Now, he was sure Evan had been absorbing his metal-element energy all along.

The colossal sword qi tore through the Golden Skeleton’s massive body, smashing it to pieces. His defenses were formidable, but against an attack that could rip open space itself, they were nothing. He died without ever understanding how he could lose to a man covered in wounds.

As the Golden Skeleton died, Evan saw a flash of golden light shoot down from the sky. He looked closely—it was a golden stone, or rather, a crystal. He knew this was a metal-element energy crystal, and that the Golden Skeleton’s true body was actually a gold-element crystal.

The bizarre scene left him astonished, but it was a stroke of luck—a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. With a thought, he flew to the ground and picked up the golden stone, feeling the lingering warmth still on its surface.

Without hesitation, he tossed it straight into his storage ring. At this point, Evan could only sit on the ground, gasping for breath. This battle felt more dangerous and exhilarating than any before—and the rewards were the greatest yet. He’d gained a rare metal-element energy.

After a while, he took out two Jadeheart Lotus seeds from his storage ring and swallowed them, feeling his spirit recover. The wound at his severed arm had already closed, but regrowing the limb was anyone’s guess. Missing an arm looked ugly as hell—and it was the thing that frustrated him most.

To regrow his arm, he’d need to use Fivefold Element-Shift, but for now that was impossible—he’d have to wait until he got back to the Immortal Realm and recover slowly. Right now, all he could do was reunite with the two women and figure out how to escape the Demonic Realm. Still, he worried they’d burst into tears when they saw him like this.

With Chaos Immortal Force flowing inside him again, Evan soared into the sky and teleported away at high speed. His wounds were healing quickly, lost muscle reknitting itself, though the pain was still sharp.

After flying nearly ten thousand miles, he spread out his spiritual sense to search for the two women. Soon, he detected Jade’s aura, and with a clear target, both Jade and Lynn quickly flew toward Evan.

When the two women saw the state Evan was in, they were both stunned. "Evan, how did you get so badly hurt? Was the Golden Skeleton really that strong?" Lynn asked.

"He was strong, all right. The Golden Skeleton might not have reached the Yin–Yang Demon Empress’s God-Lord Realm, but he had late-stage Heavenly God Realm power. Especially after he transformed—the bone spurs were the worst, like an Immortal Emperor self-destruct. That’s what wrecked me," Evan said coolly.

Just then, Jade noticed Evan’s other arm was missing, her face turning pale as she stammered, "Y-Young Master, your arm—what happened to your arm?"

As Jade spoke, Lynn saw it too and immediately grabbed Evan’s sleeve. He’d changed clothes since returning, but his injuries were so severe that some bones were still exposed and he couldn’t button everything up. The empty sleeve was impossible to miss.

"What—what happened, Evan? Where’s your arm?" Lynn’s face turned pale too, and tears instantly welled up in her eyes.

Evan glanced at the two women and saw tears in both their eyes—just as he’d expected. He forced a smile: "Don’t worry. It’s just an arm. Once we’re back in the Immortal Realm, I’ll grow it back. For now, it just looks ugly, that’s all."

"You’re not lying to me?" Lynn asked, still uncertain.

Evan looked at Lynn’s tear-streaked face, feeling a wave of emotion. "How could I lie to you? You know what I’m capable of. It’s just not the time to regrow my arm yet—Selena’s waiting for us to get back and heal her. First, we need to return to the entrance where we came into the Demonic Realm and figure out how to break it open."

Hearing Evan’s words, the two women relaxed a bit. "The entrance is still about ten thousand miles away, and you’re so badly hurt—why not rest for a day first? If we go now, we might not even be able to break it open," Jade said.

"It’s fine. If we need to rest, we’ll do it at the entrance. Maybe while I recover, you two can try first. Coming to the Demonic Realm really showed us how strong its experts are—there are plenty of places we haven’t seen, and some hidden powerhouses must be terrifying. Compared to the Demonic Realm, the Immortal Realm is honestly way too weak," Evan said, feeling deeply.

"Don’t overthink it, Young Master. The Immortal–Demon War is over. Even if it happens again, it’ll be thousands of years from now. The Demonic Realm’s main forces and leaders are wiped out—even if they want to invade the Immortal Realm, they don’t have the strength anymore," Jade said.

"Right now, the most important thing is getting back alive and healing Selena. Once she’s cured, everything else can wait," Evan said.

The three of them flew rapidly toward the entrance. When they arrived, Evan set up a concealed barrier with his remaining power, hiding their presence as they prepared to break through and return to the Immortal Realm.
