Brightsea City Amusement Park.
This amusement park has only been open for three months so far.
As the first amusement park in Brightsea City, and with it being summer vacation, by the time Evan Lin and the others arrived, there was already a sizable crowd waiting in line to buy tickets.
Peter Pang parked the car and got out.
"So many people?"
Lily Zhong was slightly taken aback. The weather was hot, and if they had to wait in line for tickets, who knew how long it would take.
"No problem, I’ll just make a call. I know the boss here."
Seeing this, Peter Pang simply pulled out his phone with a confident air and dialed directly: "Hello, Manager Yang? It’s me, Peter Pang."
"Yeah, that’s right, I’m right outside your amusement park, but there are way too many people here for tickets. Can you get me a few admission passes?"
"Alright, alright, I’ll wait for you here."
After hanging up, Peter Pang looked smug. "I know the manager here—he happens to be at the park right now. He’ll be out soon to bring us four tickets."
After speaking, Peter glanced at Jessica Jiang and Lily Zhong, only to see Jessica roll her eyes, clearly unimpressed by his antics, while Lily didn’t show any surprise or admiration either. This left Peter feeling a bit frustrated.
Next, Peter turned to Evan Lin. "So, what do you think? As the boss of a company that makes a million a year, I really do know a lot of people, right?"
"Kid, let me tell you, there are plenty of things in this world that can’t be measured by money. This is what you call connections!"
Peter Pang’s little speech was packed with information.
On one hand, he was once again emphasizing his million-a-year income; on the other, he was bragging about his connections.
Society is just people lifting people, and carriages lifting carriages.
A few small-time bosses, when they have nothing to do, hype each other up in front of others, and it gives them a huge sense of accomplishment. To outsiders, they can look like successful people too.
But after Peter finished talking, Evan Lin didn’t even glance at him, making Peter feel like he’d just punched cotton.
Still, he coughed and quickly composed himself, grinning. "This amusement park has a roller coaster that’s ten kilometers long—imported from abroad, designed and built by top engineers. The experience is awesome. Let’s try it together later, okay?"
"I’ve heard about it too. Supposedly it’s pretty awesome—really intense," Jessica Jiang nodded, looping her arm through Lily Zhong’s. "Lily, let’s go together later."
Lily Zhong nodded.
Inside the amusement park, a man in a suit hurried out and glanced around at the entrance.
"Manager Yang, over here!"
Seeing him, Peter Pang reached out and called out loudly.
Manager Yang came over, grinning. "Hey, Boss Pang, you’re too kind. I’m not really any kind of manager—I’m just a wage earner here."
"How can you say that? Everyone knows Manager Yang is Clinton Lewis’s favorite in the Lewis family! You’re in charge of the whole park." Peter deliberately said the name Clinton Lewis extra loudly.
In Brightsea City, Clinton Lewis, head of the Lewis family, was famous.
What Peter didn’t know was that Clinton Lewis had already been taken out by Evan Lin not long ago.
"Clinton Lewis!" Jessica Jiang was surprised to hear the name.
"That’s right, it’s him! Jessica, you have no idea—Manager Yang used to work at the Lewis family villa for years, and Clinton Lewis really trusted him! In Brightsea, Manager Yang is definitely the kind of person who can shake up the business world just by stomping his foot!"
Peter Pang looked absolutely proud, as if he were talking about himself.
Manager Yang’s expression turned a bit awkward at those words. He wiped the sweat from his forehead. "Let’s go, Boss Pang. I’ll take you all inside."
Following Manager Yang, the group entered the amusement park.
All along the way, Peter Pang kept talking nonstop. Meanwhile, quite a few people noticed Lily Zhong and Jessica Jiang, casting hungry glances at the two of them.
"This is our park’s most popular attraction—the Cloud-Rider Coaster. The total length is ten kilometers, with two mountain peaks and three full 360-degree loops. The safety rating is very high, so feel free to give it a try." Manager Yang smiled.
Everyone looked up. The Cloud-Rider Coaster in front of them only seated twenty people per ride, and the whole track looked absolutely thrilling.
Standing below, watching the Cloud-Rider Coaster rush by, you could hear the riders screaming in excitement.
"Let’s do this one!"
Peter Pang glanced at Evan Lin. "Hey, kid, do you dare to ride this?"
"Idiot."
Evan Lin glanced at him and spoke indifferently.
As soon as he said that, Peter Pang’s face turned green, then pale. He gritted his teeth, pulled out his phone, and discreetly typed out a message.
"Your bro just got dissed by some punk at Brightsea Amusement Park. Bring as many guys as you can! Five hundred per head, hurry!"
After sending the message, Peter Pang put away his phone, took a deep breath, and felt much better. He looked at Evan Lin with nothing but disdain in his eyes.
Just wait till my guys show up—let’s see how cocky you are then!
What Peter Pang hated most was someone playing third wheel in front of him. His real plan was to win over both Jessica Jiang and Lily Zhong.
If that worked out, wouldn’t life be perfect?
But looking now, Lily Zhong’s attention seemed focused entirely on Evan Lin, while Peter was getting zero interest from her.
Soon, the Cloud-Rider Coaster finished a run. The riders staggered off, looking dizzy, and quite a few rushed to the side to throw up.
Jessica Jiang pulled Lily Zhong onto the ride.
Evan Lin and Peter Pang got on as well.
Thanks to Peter’s maneuvering, he ended up in the same row as Jessica Jiang, while Evan Lin sat with Lily Zhong.
Once the safety harness was fastened, Lily Zhong still looked a little nervous.
"Don’t worry, nothing will happen."
Evan Lin glanced at her and spoke calmly.
In his previous life, Evan Lin remembered Lily Zhong as a teacher who always wore a cold expression, had a bit of a temper, but was responsible in class. He’d never really gotten to know her.
But in this life, he’d learned a lot more. With a father addicted to gambling, Lily Zhong had really had a tough time these past years.
Every family has its troubles—no matter where you go, that saying always fits.
"Okay."
Lily Zhong nodded slightly, and for some reason, Evan Lin’s words made her feel at ease.
As the ride started up, Lily Zhong grew even more nervous. Instinctively, she reached out and gently grabbed Evan Lin’s hand.
Waves of spiritual energy, soft as blue smoke, slowly flowed from Lily Zhong’s palm into Evan Lin’s body.
