There were two barriers here. One shimmered with the same yellow glow as the ones below, marked with five characters: Common Herb Vault.
The other, right next to it, gleamed with golden light and was labeled: Rare Herb Vault.
“Herb vaults? Jackpot!” Grace quickly flipped open the Legacy Jade Scroll.
On every floor, the Legacy Jade Scroll revealed the method of entry.
However, only for the floors she had already entered would it show what was actually inside.
At this moment, she had reached the third floor.
But the third floor still only had one line: Spirit Masters and above may enter.
Other than that, no further words appeared.
“Weird. I’m clearly on the third floor, but nothing else is showing up!” Grace frowned, unable to enter the barrier, and could only continue toward the fourth floor.
Even though she couldn’t get past the third-floor barrier, the tower’s staircase was on the same side. With a turn, she could keep heading up.
There was another door leading to the fourth floor.
On the door was a keyhole.
This keyhole could only be opened with a key hidden in the Celestial Library.
Her goal in joining the headquarters for special training was to search for that key in the Celestial Library.
Now, the President had already agreed to let her go to headquarters.
So as long as she took first place in this special training, she could enter the Celestial Library, get the key, and complete the task.
She didn’t know whether the Ten Wilds Herbal Codex was actually on the fourth floor, but at least... she probably wouldn’t fail the mission and die...
A ten-year deadline—that’s pretty generous!
Grace took a deep breath and walked back to the second floor.
She gazed lovingly for a while at the East Wilds Jade Map, then returned to the first floor.
Her supply of Spirit Jade was running low again...
She went to check on Beanie. It was the same as always—when it saw her, it wrapped its vine around her hand, acting all cute and clingy.
“Beanie, I might find a whole bunch of high-grade Spirit Jade soon!” Grace said. “You have to behave!”
Beanie's vine curled into the shape of a child's face in front of her and nodded.
......
Heading to headquarters for special training was scheduled after the Spirit Alliance Convention.
Before that, Dowager Lady Evelyn Zhu’s birthday was coming up.
Two days before the birthday, Danyang’s two aunts and the third uncle’s family arrived to celebrate.
Both aunts sent the Dowager Lady’s favorite grandchildren to offer birthday wishes.
But from the third uncle’s family came a daughter of lower status: Rona Zhu.
Rona Zhu’s biological mother was originally the third aunt’s maid, who climbed into the third uncle’s bed while he was drunk.
The third aunt never really liked her.
The third uncle was indifferent to her too.
And although Rona Zhu was a Spirit Practitioner, she only had the lowest Yellow Spirit Jade Root, so she was never valued by the family.
Coming to Yan City to celebrate the Dowager Lady’s birthday, both aunts sent their most beloved sons, so why would the third uncle send her?
Of course, Grace didn’t discriminate against her at all.
On the contrary, back when Grace had no spirit root, Rona Zhu was the only girl in the whole Zhu family who was willing to be close to her.
She just found it odd.
Later, Rona Zhu handed Minister Zhuo a letter.
After reading the letter, they understood.
The letter said that now Minister Zhuo had established himself in Yan City, and their family would eventually move here.
But since Rona Zhu was already sixteen and of marriageable age, she wanted to ask the Dowager Lady and Lena to help arrange a marriage for her in Yan City.
That way, she wouldn’t have to be separated from her parents if she got married in Danyang later.
Minister Zhuo immediately agreed and had a place arranged for Rona Zhu so she could move in right away.
