Second Floor of the Ancient Tower
That night, Grace really did fall asleep in Evan Xiao's arms.
She slept deeply and sweetly.
In her dream, Elder Drake carried her and Evan Xiao through the sky. She saw a phoenix soaring, so breathtakingly beautiful...
The next morning, Evan Xiao left for court, and Grace woke up.
She didn't get out of bed, just lingered in the sheets that still smelled like Evan Xiao, and entered the Sanctum.
She arrived at the entrance to the second floor of the Sanctum Tower.
On the door, there was a recessed handprint.
Grace placed her hand onto it, gathering her spiritual energy.
Soon, the door made a soft 'click' and opened.
It really opened!
In her past life, she had tried at least a hundred ways to open this door, but none worked...
Grace's heart raced wildly as she stepped through the doorway.
On the second floor, there was a pentagram array on the ground.
Above each of the five points, a yellow glow wrapped around five different items.
One was a folded piece of leather, looking very much like a treasure map or something similar.
There was also a sword—Grace stared at it for half an hour, growing more and more shocked.
Because it looked so much like the legendary Emperor's Sword she’d seen in books before.
If it really was, then... wow, that would be amazing!
There was also a very ancient-looking Alchemist's Cauldron, a jade bottle, and something about the size of a fist that looked like a chess piece.
The yellow glow was probably some kind of magical barrier.
All these items were shrouded in yellow light—Grace couldn’t touch any of them.
She wandered around this floor, searching every corner, but ended up disappointed.
Apparently, there was no sign of the Ten Wilds Herbal Codex.
And these treasures were all just out of reach—she couldn’t get her hands on any of them!
Then finally, she remembered—wasn’t there a Legacy Jade Scroll?
Maybe there’d be some instructions in it?
With a thought, the book formed from the Legacy Jade Scroll appeared before her.
On the page for the second floor, there had only been the unlocking method.
Now, right beneath the method in the blank space, words appeared:
Your master has prepared six treasures for you. But you must complete the tasks given by your master to obtain them.
Task One: Enter the fourth floor.
Reward: East Wilds Jade Map.
"East Wilds Jade Map?" Grace's jaw dropped. "Spirit Jade mines? A map?"
A mountain popped into her mind, with Spirit Jade ore everywhere underneath, and she was digging up piles of Celestial Spirit Jade.
Then, the little sprout grew into a towering tree...
"Ding!" A sharp sound snapped Grace out of her daydream.
She saw that, right in the center of the pentagram array, a token appeared out of thin air.
Grace walked over and reached out to pick it up.
This time, she managed to grab it easily. But before she could get a good look, it turned into a streak of light and shot right into her forehead, disappearing!
"What was that?" Grace frowned and checked the Legacy Jade Scroll again.
A new line appeared in the Legacy Jade Scroll: Task One accepted. Time limit: ten years. Failure: death.
Grace saw the word 'death' and instantly shivered.
What the heck?!
Why did she feel like she’d been totally set up?
Looking closer at the task, it was: Enter the fourth floor.
She hadn’t even unlocked the third floor yet—how was she supposed to skip straight to the fourth?
Thinking of this, she hurried to the stairway and looked toward the third floor.
One glance, and her heart leapt with joy.
The stairway to the third floor didn’t have a door!
Awesome!
Grace dashed upstairs.
At the top, she found two arc-shaped spirit barriers.
