Reconciliation Between Husband and Wife

"Mrs. Penny, do you have any good advice? Please teach me," Alexander Hayes asked earnestly, eager to learn how to make up with his wife. He set aside all princely airs and appeared genuinely humble.

Mrs. Penny smiled and said, "Actually, women naturally have a sense of possessiveness over their men, and they're very sensitive about whether other women covet them. Even I, as an outsider, can sense how Miss Bai feels about you, my lord. If the princess consort saw Miss Bai, she'd spot it in an instant."

Alexander Hayes listened to Mrs. Penny's words, finding them quite reasonable, and nodded in agreement.

Lily Evans is quick-witted, and Miss Bai's intentions are obvious; Lily would definitely notice them at a glance and probably wouldn't be pleased—just like what happened with Princess Mingyu before.

Mrs. Penny continued, "The more this happens, the more you need to show understanding toward the princess consort. If she gets jealous, just be loyal and sincere—never say you only care for Miss Bai out of courtesy and have no other feelings. That would only make the princess consort more suspicious. At times like these, a woman's mind is very delicate; she can't tolerate even a hint of her man having ties with another woman. Remember, just be honest and loyal, and reassure her. Never accuse her of being unreasonable or petty. If she gets upset, just thicken your skin and coax her. Women are afraid of persistent men, so as long as you put aside your pride, you'll be able to win her back."

Alexander Hayes nodded repeatedly, "Mrs. Penny, you make a lot of sense. I know exactly what to say now."

Mrs. Penny smiled, "Don't worry, my lord. We'll all help you say good things to the princess consort."

Taking Mrs. Penny's advice to heart, Alex hurried to Lily Evans's room. Unlike before, he didn't linger at the doorway but strode straight inside.

Inside the room, Lily Evans had just finished feeding Charles Hayes and was gently patting him to sleep. She looked up and saw Alexander Hayes.

When Lily Evans saw Alex, her heart skipped a beat—she felt a surge of nervous excitement she couldn't quite suppress.

These past days, the two of them hadn't seen each other. Although Lily Evans was uncomfortable, she appreciated the time apart—it gave her space to reflect and realize she'd been unfair to Alexander Hayes, and her attitude had been far from ideal.

Still, Lily Evans couldn't help but feel a bit resentful—she wished Alexander Hayes had come to see her and their child sooner.

Hearing Alex speak of his lonely childhood and lack of a mother's love, Lily's heart softened completely. Her last bit of anger vanished, replaced by a flood of sympathy—she reached out to comfort him, her voice gentle and warm.

Though she hadn't felt entirely comfortable these past few days apart, Lily realized the time alone had helped her cool off and reflect. She saw now that she'd been rather unfair to Alex, her attitude harsher than he'd deserved.

Even so, Lily couldn't help but feel a little miffed—she wished Alex had come to see her and their son sooner, instead of leaving them waiting.

But instead of greeting him with a warm smile, Lily kept her expression cool, her eyes betraying just a hint of lingering annoyance.

"You're truly a wonderful mother. Charles is so lucky to have you," Alexander Hayes said shamelessly, holding Lily Evans's hand.

Lily Evans blushed, but she didn't pull her hand away. She glanced at Alexander Hayes, her heart softening even more.

Seeing her response, Alexander Hayes felt relieved. He smiled and gently squeezed Lily Evans's hand, determined to make up for his past mistakes.

The two of them sat quietly together, a sense of warmth and reconciliation filling the room.
