As soon as the Azure Spirit Drake’s true form appeared, Evan Chu darted aside to dodge. He had to wait for the right moment to dive into its mouth—charging in head-on would be pure stupidity, and he wasn’t about to do that.
“Pathetic human, taste my Azure Flame Wave! I guarantee you’ll never forget this feeling for the rest of your miserable life.” The Azure Spirit Drake spat out, its words slightly garbled but still intelligible.
Its voice was rough and strange, nothing like the silver-bell tones of the girl it had transformed into earlier. If someone claimed that beautiful sound had come from its mouth, nobody would believe it.
Then the drake’s massive jaws opened wide, unleashing a huge burst of cyan light. Even though Evan was far away, he could feel the intense energy pulsing from it—getting hit by that would be instant death, no question.
In moments, the giant cyan orb formed by the light shot straight toward Evan, moving as fast as his own teleportation. If he hadn’t been ready to dodge, he would’ve been blasted on the spot.
Even so, his evasion was barely enough—the cyan orb streaked past, its crushing force making it hard to breathe. Anyone else in his place probably wouldn’t have been so lucky.
Boom! A thunderous explosion erupted dozens of meters behind Evan, echoing through the mysterious Divine Battlefield. A crater nearly a hundred meters wide appeared before him.
Countless bottomless fissures snaked outward from the impact, crisscrossing the ground. Even the riverbed split open, and water quickly flooded the cracks and the giant pit, dropping the river’s level by a huge margin.
“Damn, that’s even scarier than my own Earthsplitter. No wonder it’s a seventh-layer Saint Martial Spirit Beast.” Evan muttered, still shaken. This monster was probably the toughest opponent he’d ever faced.
In a flash, as the Azure Spirit Drake spat out another cyan orb, Evan unleashed a Heaven-Cleave. Fusing it with the power of the Fivefold Element-Shift, the strike was unimaginably fierce—the surrounding space rippled and warped from the impact.
Apparently, the Azure Spirit Drake saw just how powerful Evan’s strike was. Its massive body instantly curled into a tight ball, a layer of cyan light coating its scales. It was obviously planning to use that light to defend against Evan’s attack.
Boom! The explosion rang out right in front of both Evan and the drake. The force sent them flying backward, completely uncontrollable. Evan’s arm tingled, almost too numb to grip the Frostbane Sword, and he stared at the distant Azure Spirit Drake in shock.
That monster actually blocked his attack with its own body. This was his strongest move so far, and it still managed to withstand it—its defense was on a whole other level. Fighting a freak like this was honestly a terrible idea.
Evan found it strange. After fusing Heaven-Cleave with the Fivefold Element-Shift, he should be able to tear open space easily. But here in the Divine Battlefield, the space didn’t seem affected at all—not even by the drake’s attacks. Was there really no spatial black hole here?
Even though the Azure Spirit Drake had blocked Evan’s attack, it didn’t come out unscathed. Dozens of scale-plates, hard as dragon armor, were blasted off, and a deep, bone-revealing wound was gushing blood from its side.
This was probably the worst injury it’d suffered in tens of thousands of years. The wound itself wasn’t a big deal, but to the drake, it was a humiliating disgrace. It let out a roar like a true dragon’s, making the whole scene even more terrifying.
Evan didn’t dare use Heaven-Cleave too often. Sure, it could hurt or even kill the drake, but the price was too steep—he couldn’t afford that kind of Chaos Dragon Force drain, so he had to be extra cautious facing this crisis.
The Azure Spirit Drake was completely enraged now. Its massive body unfurled, glowing with cyan light, and in a flash, it was right in front of Evan.
Its huge tail whipped toward Evan at blinding speed, leaving afterimages that were almost impossible to dodge. But for Evan, it was nothing—he slipped past it with ease.
Seeing its attack miss, the Azure Spirit Drake roared again and opened its bloody maw. Another cyan orb began to gather, much bigger than the last—this one was bound to be even more devastating.
Evan knew this was his chance. As soon as the orb shot out, if he timed his teleportation just right, he could slip into the drake’s mouth the instant it closed. It was insanely risky, but with the drake’s jaws stretched wide, it was the best shot he’d ever get.
Sure enough, the Azure Spirit Drake’s bloodshot eyes locked onto Evan and spat out another terrifying blast. At that exact moment, Evan flashed forward—just as the cyan orb left its mouth, he dove straight in.
His timing was perfect. A second too slow and the jaws would’ve snapped shut, crushing him; a second too fast and he’d have been blasted point-blank by the orb.
A massive roar echoed in the distance, shaking the earth and boiling the river until it vanished—because now, a giant lake had appeared nearby.
The Azure Spirit Drake never imagined that this lowly human would actually enter its mouth. It was the perfect chance to bite down and kill him, but just as it tried, Evan braced its upper jaw with the Frostbane Sword.
The Frostbane Sword was a divine weapon from ancient times—even the Azure Spirit Drake couldn’t break it. And the upper jaw was a weak spot, so when it bit down, blood poured out everywhere.
“Linfeng, hurry and get inside its body and find the demon core! Once you’re in, tear open its stomach—no matter how strong it is, it won’t be able to hurt you then.” Luna’s voice rang out.
Evan knew this was a rare chance, so he crawled straight toward the drake’s stomach. After just a couple steps, a powerful suction yanked him in, trapping him in a pool of foul-smelling liquid.
He realized he was in its stomach. Without the Frostbane Sword in hand, he pulled out the Flame Dragon Sword from his storage ring, picked his moment, and ripped open its gut. The drake’s agonized scream echoed from its mouth.
Evan didn’t care about anything else—he was in the zone, swinging the Flame Dragon Sword over and over, his body soaked in the drake’s blood. He relished the slaughter, and before long, a cyan bead appeared before him…
