Evan Chu was always confident in his Light Transformation technique. Once he concealed his body, these colossal beasts had no idea that danger was already upon them.
Now that he'd broken through to early-stage Immortal Emperor, his strength was on a whole different level. Evan decided to test himself against a mid-stage Tiger-Elephant Beast. He quickly locked onto his target—a massive brute walking in the center of the herd.
He swiftly flew above the Tiger-Elephant Beast’s head, choosing not to stand on its body but to hover in midair. Slowly, he drew the Frostbane Divine Sword from his storage ring.
Just as he was about to unleash a Star-Cleave to test his power, one Tiger-Elephant Beast suddenly raised its head and let out a sky-shaking roar. The thunderous sound hammered Evan’s ears, nearly deafening him.
“Such a powerful sonic attack... Could these beasts actually see my body?” Evan muttered, feeling frustrated.
“They can’t see your body, but they can definitely sense your Frostbane Divine Sword. You have to understand, Immortal Beasts have much sharper senses than immortals. They can sense danger ahead of time and warn their kin. That Tiger-Elephant Beast must have detected the threat and sounded the alarm,” said the Emerald Immortal Empress.
At that moment, all the Tiger-Elephant Beasts raised their heads and howled at the sky. The sound waves rolled out in waves, and trees within a hundred li were shattered into splinters and sawdust by the vibrations. The sheer terror of it made Evan break out in a cold sweat.
Such a powerful sonic attack could easily slaughter immortals below the Heavenly Immortal Realm. If these beasts unleashed this on a battlefield during the Immortal-Beast War, it would be instant carnage. These monsters are truly terrifying—if Tiger-Elephant Beasts show up in the war, they must be killed immediately or the consequences will be unimaginable.
Shaking his head to clear the discomfort, Evan glanced at the Tiger-Elephant Beast below. With a thought, he unleashed Star-Cleave, sending a massive blade of sword-qi crashing down on the beast’s back. The attack split the mountain-sized brute into several pieces.
Evan hadn’t expected his Star-Cleave to be so overwhelmingly powerful. The moment he unleashed it, the whole space trembled. Several giant tornadoes erupted, sweeping up dirt and shredded trees into the air. For a moment, it looked like the end of the world.
After slaying the Tiger-Elephant Beast, Evan used his divine sense to quickly search for its beast core. He soon found it in the middle of its belly. Since the body was already chopped into pieces, retrieving the beast core was easy—he flew down, picked it up, and stored it in his ring.
But then, he noticed that the once-massive Tiger-Elephant Beast had transformed into a humanoid shape. The change was bizarre—the figure looked human, but its nose was still an elephant’s trunk, over a foot long.
He hadn’t expected these creatures to be able to take human form—if they could do that, they could probably speak too. Before Evan could finish muttering to himself, a furious roar thundered in his ear.
“Who dares harm a member of my Tiger-Elephant clan? Show yourself—this king wants to face you alone!” The speaker was a burly, middle-aged man, well over three meters tall.
Evan sensed countless divine senses sweeping over him. For now, it was safest not to move—so long as he stayed still, they couldn’t detect him, since no energy fluctuations meant he remained invisible.
The middle-aged man’s aura radiated the absolute peak of late-stage Immortal Emperor Realm—far stronger than Zane Zuo or Nolan Nangong. This was a truly tough opponent, and Evan knew he had to be careful.
Suddenly, a golden bolt of lightning shot toward Evan, launched by the middle-aged man. It was aimed precisely at Evan’s hidden position, which surprised him.
With a flicker, Evan dodged the bolt. He wasn’t especially afraid of lightning, but he didn’t dare take this attack lightly—it might actually be able to harm him, maybe even his mind or soul.
“Human, do you think hiding your body means we can’t see you? My Tiger-Elephant clan is innately sensitive to invisible things. Once we take human form, you’re basically exposed. I can’t believe you dared to kill my clansman—today, you’re dead!” the middle-aged man declared.
“No way, can this guy really see me? That’s seriously freaky. Or maybe he’s just bluffing to make me show myself and get hit by a group attack? Some Immortal Beasts are really smart—their intelligence is no weaker than humans.” Evan muttered to himself.
“Looks like you need a lesson, or you’ll really think my Tiger-Elephant clan is easy to bully. Everyone, attack him together—let him see the true power of our golden lightning!” the middle-aged man continued.
As soon as he finished speaking, dozens of bolts of golden lightning shot toward Evan. The air crackled with energy, and the sheer number left him speechless. He instantly used Earthshift to hide himself in the ground and avoid the attack.
Even after burrowing dozens of meters underground, Evan still felt a tingling numbness all over his body. If he’d been hit directly, the force would have rivaled a lightning tribulation—maybe even a terrifying one.
Evan suddenly emerged back on the surface. He was, after all, the lord of a palace—how could he keep hiding like a coward? Being cornered by these beasts was intolerable, so he revealed himself.
Seeing Evan emerge from the earth, the middle-aged man immediately said, “Human, you’re the strongest to enter Godfall Valley in years. But you shouldn’t have killed a member of my Tiger-Elephant clan. Maybe we could have spared you, but now you’ll pay for your foolishness.”
“Hey, old man, you’re the king of these beasts, right? If I kill you, the rest will scatter, and finishing them off will be easy. I didn’t come here just to be scared of you—show me what you’ve got! If all you have is golden lightning, it won’t do much to me,” Evan said.
As he spoke, a massive arc of purple lightning appeared in Evan’s hand, crackling with energy. Thundershift had grown much stronger now, thanks to his improved cultivation.
The middle-aged man’s face changed at the sight of the purple lightning. “You actually know thunder arts? Then you really can’t be allowed to live. So, you killed my clansman for our Lightning Orbs, didn’t you? Planning to use them to boost your own power!”
“Lightning Orbs?” Evan was startled. This was his first time encountering Tiger-Elephant Beasts—he had no idea what Lightning Orbs were. But if they contained such powerful thunder energy, he definitely had to get them; they’d be a huge help for Thundershift.
“That’s right, you’re smarter than you look—you figured out my real plan. Today, every Lightning Orb you carry will be mine. I’ll slaughter you all and erase your clan from the Immortal Realm!” Evan declared.
“You brat, you’re courting death! Everyone, kill him!” the middle-aged man roared.
