Cecilia Gu didn't keep asking about Lydia Lin and Zach Zhao, and Charles Yin kept quiet too. As long as Cecilia was happy, Charles was happy too.
This sense of unspoken understanding felt pretty nice.
Once they were rested, Charles took Cecilia and Jane back home.
It was Jane's first time stepping into her daughter's and son-in-law's home.
When Jane arrived at the massive, luxurious villa, she felt like she was dreaming.
Honestly, Cecilia had felt the same way when she first came here.
Because everything here was just so beautiful.
As soon as they reached the door, Mrs. Zhang, who’d already heard the news, happily greeted them at the entrance: "Young Master, Young Madam, welcome home! Mrs. Jane Gu, welcome!"
Jane was both surprised and delighted.
"Mom, this is Mrs. Zhang, the head housekeeper in charge of the maids. And that’s the butler, who manages the male staff and oversees everything in the villa," Cecilia introduced Mrs. Zhang and the butler to Jane.
The butler nodded politely and greeted, "Mrs. Jane, it's a pleasure to meet you!"
"Hello, hello!" Jane quickly replied.
It was simply surreal!
Although Jane knew the Yin family was wealthy, she never imagined they were this rich.
After all, this was just one villa, not the Yin family's ancestral home!
The Yin family's ancestral home was the true symbol of power and status!
Charles hadn't taken over the entire family business yet, so for now, they could live outside.
Someday, when Charles becomes chairman of Yin Enterprises, he'll have to move back to the ancestral home.
For dinner, the kitchen prepared a variety of delicious dishes to suit Jane's tastes.
Cecilia was naturally happy to have Jane here.
As long as Cecilia was happy, Charles was happy too.
So the three of them enjoyed a wonderful dinner together.
Later that night, Cecilia led Jane to her guest room and personally explained how to use the appliances.
Jane took Cecilia's hand and sat on the sofa, looking around and sighing with emotion: "I always knew you’d landed in a good place, but I never realized just how good. Now, I can finally stop worrying."
"Mom..." Cecilia smiled at Jane. "Why bring that up?"
"By the way, Cecilia, did you transfer money to me the other day? Where did you get so much money?" Jane looked worried. "You should be living your own life, not just giving me money. I won’t touch it—you should take it back."
Cecilia quickly made a shushing gesture and gently explained, "Mom, this money is all earned honestly. Take it and spend it—don’t worry about me! You can see the Yin family treats me well."
She decided not to tell her mom about her plans to leave the Yin family.
Seeing her mom so happy, Cecilia knew she was very satisfied with Charles as a son-in-law.
If she ever left, it would be hard for her mom to accept.
Oh well, just take things one step at a time.
"I made all that money playing the red envelope game with Charles. Honestly, he just let me win." Ever since they joined the assistants' group chat, Charles would occasionally send out special red envelopes.
The assistants could tell those red envelopes were meant for the Young Madam.
So they all pretended not to see them. Cecilia’s assistant, Xiao Wang, was in the group too and would always let Cecilia know when the CEO sent one.
Cecilia had gotten a bit addicted to the red envelope game lately, joining everyone in the group whenever she was bored.
Over time, she’d saved up hundreds of thousands.
Hearing this, Jane finally felt relieved.
Jane spoke earnestly, "Cecilia, you have to be content and grateful. Even though your marriage with Charles was sudden, and I don’t know why you broke up with Zach Zhao and ended up with Charles, what matters is you’re expecting now. Just live well with Charles! He’s a good man—noble, kind, and he treats you well. What more could you want? Remember what I always said: money is easy to find, but true love is rare."
Cecilia opened her mouth, unsure what to say.
Right now, her mom couldn’t be happier with Charles.
If she said anything bad about Charles now, her mom would probably scold her.
Sigh... Good looks really are an advantage!
"Also, if it hadn’t been for Charles today, things could’ve gone badly... But never mind, as long as you know what’s going on." Jane patted Cecilia’s shoulder with a loving smile. "I just want you to be happy."
"I will." Cecilia smiled. "Get some rest. Tomorrow I’ll take you out for some fun. Charles gave me lots of membership cards—he said it’s his way of honoring his mother-in-law."
"This child..." Jane laughed, more satisfied with Charles than ever.
Back in his bedroom, Charles had already showered and was lying in bed reading.
Cecilia took a shower, letting go of everything that had happened during the day before leaving the bathroom.
She then noticed Charles was reading her book—the one Yun Nuo had given to Mo Zixuan.
"You like that book too?" Cecilia couldn’t help but ask.
"I wouldn’t say I like it. I just noticed how much you seem to enjoy it." Charles closed the book and set it aside.
"I don’t know why, but so many words in this book resonate with me. It’s amazing, isn’t it?" Cecilia lay down and picked up the book, but didn’t open it. She continued, "Even though Yun Nuo gave this book to Mo Zixuan, I feel like some of the words are speaking directly to me. I don’t know why I have that feeling."
"Don’t think too much—get some sleep." Charles’s gaze flickered to Cecilia’s belly.
Cecilia was taken aback.
"Come on, let’s say goodnight to our baby." Charles gently placed his hand on Cecilia’s belly.
The baby inside seemed to sense something and turned over happily, then kicked Charles without hesitation.
Both Cecilia and Charles burst out laughing—their baby was really cooperative.
They slept soundly through the night.
The next morning, Cecilia looked at the alarm clock—it was already past eight.
No doubt, Charles had already left for work by then.
Hmm, her mom was probably up already too.
Since entering the second trimester, she’d been sleeping more.
As soon as Cecilia got up, her assistant knocked and came in to help pick out her outfit for the day.
While washing up, Cecilia said, "I’m taking my mom shopping today, so let’s keep things simple. For the watch, let’s go with the Patek Philippe. I remember I have a beige trench coat set—the color should match perfectly."
"Yes, Young Madam." The assistant immediately picked out the outfit and watch Cecilia mentioned.
Cecilia and Charles each had their own cabinet for luxury watches and accessories.
Charles’s cabinet was a bit smaller, and every month the butler would refresh it with new watches.
Cecilia’s cabinet was bigger, but updates were less frequent.
Cecilia liked to wear her favorite watches multiple times, so the butler didn’t update hers as often.
But whenever a new model came out, it would promptly appear in Cecilia’s cabinet.
After finishing her morning routine and changing clothes, Cecilia cheerfully went downstairs.
As she reached the bottom of the stairs, a maid approached with a glass of milk for Cecilia.
Cecilia was used to this, so she took a few sips of milk before asking, "Where’s my mom?"
"Mrs. Jane is outside watering the flowers," the maid replied. "She seems to really enjoy them."
"Has she eaten?" Cecilia asked.
"Yes, she’s already eaten. Young Madam, shall I bring your breakfast now?" the maid asked.
"Yes, bring it over. Nothing fancy, just something simple. Let the driver know we’ll be going out soon. No need to prepare lunch—we’ll eat out. If Charles comes home, have the butler notify Xiao A." Cecilia replied.
"Yes, Young Madam." The maid withdrew, well-trained.
Cecilia happily finished breakfast and left home with Jane.
Charles heard the report and couldn’t hide his smile.
Everyone at the company thought the CEO was extra gentle today!
Even a deputy general manager who made a mistake wasn’t scolded—he was simply told to redo it correctly!
OMG! That’s never happened before!
In the past, a mistake like that would have gotten the deputy manager fired!
What could have happened today to make him so happy?
Of course, only a few people like Xiao A knew the real reason—everyone else was left guessing!
Cecilia and Jane went around experiencing life here.
Jane hesitated when she saw how fancy the shop was. "Cecilia, are we really going in? A place like this must be expensive!"
"Mom, I told you—the membership card is loaded with money. We just spend it. If it’s not enough, we’ll pawn our Range Rover!" Cecilia joked. "Charles has so many cars, and I have several myself!"
Jane finally relaxed and laughed along.
After all, with a wealthy son-in-law, a mother-in-law can’t embarrass him.
The two of them chatted and laughed as they walked in.
"Oh my, what are those country bumpkins doing here at Kunni? They’re ruining our class!" a discordant voice suddenly sounded behind them.
Jane stiffened and instinctively wanted to leave.
Cecilia grabbed Jane’s hand and kept walking forward.
She absolutely wouldn’t let anyone insult her mother!
The harsh voice continued, "We pay a hundred thousand a year for membership—can just anyone from the countryside walk in here?"
