Actually Scared to Tears

"His Majesty took her to see Bones the physician," someone nearby said. "Bones can cure her poison."

Nine Li turned his head and his eyes lit up: "Baxa-brother!"

Lily Bai slowly woke up, feeling a burning pain on her face.

She suddenly remembered the face she saw in the mirror and sat up with a scream.

"Ah! My face! I'm ruined!" Lily Bai reached for her face, and it felt as rough as burlap.

Damian Black was beside her and immediately pulled her hand away: "Don't touch!"

"Ah! Go away!" Lily Bai tried to cover her face so he couldn't see. "Close your eyes! You're not allowed to look at me!"

"Bones already detoxified you," Damian Black said. "You'll be fine soon."

Lily Bai's tears streamed down: "You're lying! Didn't you just say there was no cure?"

"I hadn't finished my sentence! No one else can cure it—only Bones can."

"Liar! Liar! My face feels rough as burlap!"

"Are you really that slow? There's gauze on your face! There's medicine under the gauze! Don't move, you'll be fine soon." Damian Black tightly held her flailing hands.

"Really?" Lily Bai asked, eyes brimming with tears.

She actually got scared into crying...

Damian Black's gaze softened. He reached out and gently wiped away her tears with his fingertips: "Let me get you a mirror."

Lily Bai nodded.

Damian Black brought over a mirror and placed it in front of her.

In the mirror, her face was indeed covered in gauze, but the skin visible around her eyes and other exposed parts looked normal again.

"See? I didn't lie to you, did I?"

Lily Bai swung her fist and hit his chest: "Why are you so annoying? Why do you always say things halfway?"

Damian Black couldn't help but laugh: "Let's see if you dare splurge like that again next time."

'Let's see if you dare splurge like that again!' This husband is way too stingy, right Lily Bai? At that moment, a doll-faced child walked out from the inner room—it was Bones.

Husband?

Lily Bai's face instantly turned bright red.

Suddenly she realized—they were sitting a little too close, and Damian Black's gaze and actions just now were a bit...

She curved her lips and said, "Physician Bones, thank you so much!"

"No problem at all!" Bones said. "Just consider it rent."

"Rent?" Lily Bai was puzzled.

Damian Black shot Bones a warning look.

"Uh, I'm renting your husband's house! Come on, let me check your face." Bones came over to Lily Bai, lifted a corner of the gauze and looked, then asked, "Does it still hurt?"

Lily Bai shook her head: "It hurt a lot just now. Now it doesn't hurt much—it's starting to feel a bit cool."

"Good! Then there's no problem. In half an hour, you can take the gauze off yourself—or have your husband do it for you."

"He... he... isn't my husband..." Lily Bai stammered.

"Oh? Really?" Bones looked at her with his big black-and-white eyes. "Then I must've made a mistake."

Lily Bai didn't say anything.

"I'm just a baby! It's normal for me to make mistakes!" Bones grinned at her.

"Physician Bones, are you also a Spirit Elixir master?"

"Yep!"

"You're so young, but your medical skills are amazing! Who did you study under? Are you part of the Spirit Alliance? I know a lot of Spirit Elixir masters there."

She knew quite a few Spirit Elixir masters in the Spirit Alliance—maybe they'd even met before!

"Studied under... I guess you could say I studied under Grace Summers! After I gained my humanoid form, I started learning from her."

Lily Bai's eyes widened: "Who?"
