He’s clearly looking at you, smiling, but you can sense that his attention isn’t really on you—his spirit seems detached, overlooking everything from above.
Today, he’s dressed all in white casual clothes. Lily Bai thinks that if he changed into Taoist robes, he’d look exactly like a high-level cultivator…
Maybe it’s just because he’s worked at the museum too long?
But come on, he’s the dignified Third Prince—he could easily hold a much more important position. Why would he be in a museum, the kind of place old men hang out?
Is the President sidelining him?
These thoughts flashed through her mind in an instant. Lily Bai, keeping her composure, asked, “So you both work at the museum?”
“That’s right!” The Third Prince’s wife, Mabel An, replied with a smile. “Are you here for a tour?”
She’s Melissa An’s sister.
She doesn’t look much like Melissa—she’s taller, with a better figure, and when she’s not smiling, she gives off a strong, commanding vibe.
Her daughter, Xena Xiao, definitely inherited that same energy.
But she always wore a smile, which softened her strong presence and made her seem much more approachable.
"Yeah! I happened to be passing by and thought I'd take a look inside," Lily replied.
"Come on, we'll take you in—no need to buy a ticket," Mabel said, reaching out to her.
Lily didn't refuse, thanked them, and followed them inside.
Once inside, Mabel gave Lily a quick rundown of the different halls and let her explore freely.
Lily thanked her again.
"Lily." Mabel suddenly took her hand, looking earnest. "About Angel—I'm apologizing on her behalf. Please don't take it to heart."
Lily glanced at her hand and smiled slightly. "I won't, don't worry."
"That kid..." Mabel sighed. "Her parents are always busy, mostly abroad, so she grew up in my house and at her aunt's in Haicheng. Honestly, it's our fault for not supervising her better. She keeps doing and saying things that aren't really appropriate..."
"I was too impulsive before. Princess Consort, hearing you say this just makes me feel more ashamed," Lily said.
"Angel isn't actually a bad kid—she's just too naive and headstrong," Mabel said. "If you run into her in the future, please be patient and try to guide her, since our families go way back."
Lily nodded.
"I can tell you're a good kid!" Mabel said warmly, patting Lily's hand. "Bring your baby over to play sometime! I heard from Jean Shaw that your little one is super cute!"
Lily nodded again.
"Take your time looking around—I need to get to work."
"Thank you, Princess Consort. Take care!" Lily said respectfully, watching her leave.
Then she pulled out a small mirror to check her face.
"Lily Bai, can you be serious for once?" Little Smudge grumbled from inside the dog bag. "We're here on business—why are you fussing over your looks?"
"I'm just checking if my beauty is enough to charm men and women, young and old," Lily said.
"Huh? What makes you think that?"
"Just now, the Princess Consort's heartbeat was a little off when she talked to me! She was so sweet and even invited me over—maybe she's got a crush on me?" Lily teased.
Little Smudge rolled his eyes inside the dog bag.
"I saw you roll your eyes," Lily said. "Are you saying I'm not beautiful?"
