Black Wind Mystic Art, Just a Parlor Trick

2/14/2026

"Today, all of you—go die!"

Miles Wan roared in fury. Instantly, waves of black qi surged from his body, swirling around him like smoke and mist, forming a halo of darkness.

As the black qi billowed out, Miles quickly weaved hand seals and muttered an incantation. In no time, violent winds erupted beside him.

The surrounding tree trunks creaked under the sudden gale, clouds churned overhead, and Miles Wan stood out, radiating sharp, unstoppable power.

Across the horizon, small tornadoes swept over the calm lake, pulling up water into long, thin waterspouts.

The waterspouts rolled ashore, mixing with mud from the pier, looking like earthen dragons towering between heaven and earth.

"What is that?!"

Queenie Tong squinted against the sand and stones whipped up by the wind, but forced her eyes open to watch the small tornadoes forming over the lake. No matter how she looked, the spectacle felt utterly mystical and divine.

"The Young Valley Lord of Medicine King Valley really is terrifying! They say everyone above elder level in the Valley has immortal-like powers—seeing it today, it’s true!"

"Damn, that kid is so unlucky, but what can you do? He overestimated himself and even provoked them. Isn’t that just asking to die?"

A group of people huddled in the distance, sheltering from the gale, watching Evan Lin standing before Miles Wan with nothing but pity in their eyes.

Lucy Lu stared at Evan Lin, her pretty face pale with fear.

She hesitated again and again, wanting to step forward, but before she could take a single step, Queenie Tong grabbed her arm.

"No one can save someone who brings trouble on himself, Lucy. Besides, you’re not even close to him—don’t go causing problems for the Young Valley Lord of Medicine King Valley!"

Queenie looked at Lucy, resolute: "I just hope the Young Valley Lord finishes this quickly and doesn’t waste my time begging for medicine for my sister!"

Hearing Queenie’s words, Lucy’s expression shifted uncertainly, but finally she sighed and withdrew her foot.

She couldn’t do anything at all—couldn’t stop Miles Wan, and apparently couldn’t persuade that boy either.

"That’s... the Black Wind Mystic Art! You actually mastered the Black Wind Mystic Art!"

Seeing the wild winds surging all around, Warren Wu’s face changed dramatically and he couldn’t help but cry out in shock.

"The Black Wind Mystic Art is Medicine King Valley’s ultimate secret technique. Once mastered, you can control the wind itself! For centuries, I’ve been the only one to cultivate it!" Miles Wan declared proudly, his black hair flying wildly, cold light flashing in his eyes.

He stared coldly at Evan Lin in front of him and said, "You should feel honored—you're the first person I've ever killed with this art. Consider it a worthy death!"

"Today, I'll let you see just how powerful my Black Wind Mystic Art really is!"

Miles Wan howled, and several tornadoes braided together, carrying dirt and lake water. As they merged, their power grew even greater than before.

The wind howled, its sharp shriek striking fear into everyone who heard it.

As the tornadoes merged, Miles's face turned deathly pale—clearly, this display had drained him to his limit.

Evan Lin stood calmly in front of Miles, raised his head slightly to look at the approaching storm, his black hair fluttering and his eyes deep and serene. He spoke lightly: "A crude, botched wind technique like this dares call itself a 'mystic art'?"

"A frog at the bottom of a well, an ant that dares to boast."

Evan's tone was calm, but his seemingly ordinary words carried clearly through the howling wind to everyone nearby.

Every word rang out, as clear and striking as a morning bell, leaving the crowd stunned.

"How is that possible? It felt like that kid was speaking right next to my ear!"

Someone looked around in shock, eyes full of confusion.

"No matter how tough he talks, does he really think he’ll walk out alive?"

Queenie Tong bit her lip. She had no grudge or connection with Evan Lin, but after his repeated words, in her eyes he’d become just another delusional, big-talking chuunibyou.

She’d grown up surrounded by people like that, and the more she looked at him, the more disgusted she felt.

The next moment, Miles Wan snorted coldly and his hand seals sped up even more.

"Let’s see you act tough now! Go die!"

With a wild roar, Miles Wan sent the massive windstorm hurtling toward Evan Lin from midair, as if obeying his command.

"Holy crap!" Warren Wu’s face changed and he turned to run, not caring about anything else.

But Evan Lin stood his ground, showing no sign of dodging, letting the terrifying wind draw closer and closer.

"He must be scared stiff," Queenie Tong shook her head, sneering inside. "Even if he wanted to dodge, it’d be impossible now. There’s no way to escape in a situation like this!"

The next moment, the storm arrived right on schedule.

In everyone’s eyes, the teenager on the mule cart didn’t dodge at all—he actually spread his arms wide, as if to take flight!

"Is this kid an idiot? Is he really trying to ride the tornado or something?" someone sneered.

"He’s done for, totally done for!" another person grinned, eyes gleaming with excitement. "It’s so rare to see such mystical techniques live! Quick, film it, film it!"

That person fumbled out his phone and started recording, then excitedly uploaded the video online.

In the video, the storm raged, sweeping across the ground. Only one teenager stood there, black hair wild in the wind, unyielding and unmoved as the gale slammed into him.

Soon, the storm finally hit. Even before the main wind arrived, the mule cart was torn to pieces by the force. Miles Wan retreated, and the whole storm swallowed up the cart and the teenager completely.

"Once you’re caught in my windstorm, you’ll be ground to dust! Keep acting tough—see what good it does you!"

Miles Wan laughed gleefully. It was his first time using this technique to kill, and doing it in front of everyone filled him with pride as they stared in awe.

"You should be grateful—this move was meant for Evan ‘Nine Mysteries’ Lin! Hahaha!"

Warren Wu’s face turned deathly pale at those words. The storm was so powerful it not only shredded the mule cart, but even the mule itself was torn to pieces.

Evan Lin had been completely swallowed by the storm—there was no way he could survive!

Yet, just as everyone waited for the storm to fade and started thinking about cozying up to the Young Valley Lord...

A faint sigh came from within the heart of the storm.
