The Thing on the Grave

At this moment, the man's entire strength was sealed, and he looked at Evan Yang in terror. "I was wrong," he pleaded.

"Wrong?" Evan Yang snorted coldly.

The man's screams echoed until Evan Yang paused his actions and asked, "Who sent you?"

The people Evan Yang killed weren't particularly strong, nor did they seem like leaders, so he spared this one for questioning.

The man replied in fear, "It was the Young Peak Lord of Qili Peak."

"Young Peak Lord of Qili Peak?" Evan Yang had no idea what place that was. To better track down the mastermind, he didn't kill the man immediately but sealed him and tossed him into the Tower.

Then he turned to the other two. Night Chen saw Evan Yang and asked, "Where's my father?"

You Shuang was still as quiet as ever, but seeing Evan Yang brought a smile to her face.

Evan Yang said, "You two go into the Tower first. Your father is inside."

"What about you?" Night Chen knew this place was dangerous and asked with concern.

You Shuang's joy turned to worry, her eyes filled with concern. Evan Yang glanced at the two and smiled, "I'll be fine. You two go in first."

After speaking, he sent the two inside, leaving himself alone in the area once more.

"Qili Peak? Once I get out, I'll settle accounts with them," Evan Yang muttered. With that, he started to investigate the place, trying to figure out what it was.

Just as he took a few steps, a voice rang out: "Young man, don't come any closer. Even if you're not afraid of formations, it won't end well for you."

Evan Yang hadn't expected to encounter a true expert, so he spoke respectfully, "Senior, what is this place?"

"This is my grave," the person said in a ghostly tone.

Who calls their own place a grave? Evan Yang frowned. "Senior, what do you mean by that?"

"I've been here for many years, watched countless people come seeking treasure, but most are really just seeking death," the voice sighed.

"Senior, where are you? Why can't I see you?" Evan Yang called out.

"Me? I'm very far from you, yet very close," the voice replied eerily.

"Senior, is there anything I can help you with?" Evan Yang sensed the other party seemed to be troubled.

"You? You're far too weak. If you keep moving forward, it'll cost you your life," the person replied.

Evan Yang didn't doubt the warning, but since the area was full of formations—and he had no trouble with formations—he said, "If it's just formations, that's not a problem for me."

"Outside is just low-level formations. Deeper in are immortal arrays, beyond your comprehension. If you value your life, leave now," the voice said.

Hearing this, Evan Yang considered retreating, but his curiosity got the better of him. He used Thousand-Mile Sound to search for the voice's source.

The owner of the voice had no idea Evan Yang could use such a strange technique as Thousand-Mile Sound. While chatting, Evan Yang pinpointed the direction and quickly discovered the voice came from a small grave.

"Is it really a grave?" Evan Yang muttered in disbelief as he saw the voice emanating from a tomb.

"Young man, go back. Don't come here to die," the voice sounded again.

Evan Yang thought, since someone had kindly warned him, there was no point in going further—he might even die. But just as he was about to leave, he froze. There was something stuck in the grave.

If it were anything else, Evan Yang wouldn't have approached, but this object was far too important to him.

"Just one left—it's you," Evan Yang exclaimed in delight. It was the tenth dagger; Evan never expected to find it here.

Seeing Evan Yang approach instead of leaving, the owner of the voice warned again, "Young man, don't come any closer, or you'll easily lose your life."

"Senior, don't worry," Evan Yang said, continuing forward. When a thick mist blocked his vision and even his Heavenly Eye failed, Evan realized he'd wandered into an immortal array.

He hoped it was just an illusion array—at least with experience, he could slowly find his way out. But if it was a trapping array, things would get complicated, requiring strong attacks. Attack arrays were even worse; one careless step could mean death.

Unfortunately for Evan Yang, it turned out to be an attack array.

"Young man, quickly retreat five steps, then move left three steps," the voice instructed. Evan Yang was surprised the person could know the array's layout.

Evan Yang hurriedly followed the instructions and soon exited the array. He exclaimed, "Senior, you actually know the formation. Why not tell me the way in?"

"I could tell you, but your body isn't strong enough to withstand the attacks in the middle. Even if I told you, you wouldn't survive," the voice said calmly.

Evan Yang didn't want to leave the dagger behind. He gritted his teeth, "I have a way to get through, but I need you to guide me."

"What way do you have?" the voice asked curiously.

"Would a spatial artifact work?" Evan Yang asked.

"Spatial artifact? That depends on what kind, but in this realm, no artifact can withstand the attacks here. You should leave," the voice replied after a moment's thought.

Evan Yang smiled, "Don't worry, Senior. I'll definitely make it through."

"Why are you so stubborn!" the voice said, a hint of anger in his tone.

"Senior, just tell me. Whether I make it or not, that's my fate," Evan Yang said.

"You brat, I'm not telling you," the person replied.

Evan Yang hadn't expected such a response, but he refused to give up. "Then I'll go in myself. If I die, so be it," he said.

With that, Evan Yang walked right in.

"You—fine, I'll tell you," the person said helplessly, finally revealing the steps Evan Yang needed inside.

Evan Yang memorized the instructions, then vanished into the array in a flash, entering the Tower and taking control of it.

Seeing the strange Tower appear, the person said in surprise, "That's pretty sturdy."

Following the person's instructions, Evan Yang made his way through, taking about half an hour to exit the array and reach the grave.

Evan Yang flashed out from the Tower.

The owner of the voice exclaimed, "How did you know I was here?"

"You said this was a grave, so when I saw a grave, I came over," Evan Yang replied with a smile.

"Kid, you're pretty lucky to have such a spatial artifact," the person said with a laugh.

"Senior, are you dead or alive?" Evan Yang asked in disbelief.

"What do you think?" The person smiled, seeing someone approach so closely for the first time.

Evan Yang smiled and said, "I have no idea."

"I'm half-dead, half-alive. I can only stay here year after year, unable to leave," the person sighed.

"Senior, do you mean you're trapped here?" Evan Yang asked in disbelief.

"Yes, someone harmed me and locked me in this private space. Every thousand years, they come to mock me," the voice sighed.

"Are you an immortal, Senior?" Evan Yang wondered, knowing only a legendary immortal could create such a vast space with immortal arrays.

"What does being an immortal matter? I still ended up like this," the person sighed.

Evan Yang was startled. So far, he'd met many who claimed to be immortals, but he never knew where immortals actually lived.

"Alright, if you have nothing else, you'd better leave. Who knows, maybe one day he'll come back in a bad mood and find me again," the voice said with a smile, seeing Evan Yang dazed.

Evan Yang didn't leave, but asked, "Senior, what about the dagger on your grave?"

"That one? It's a very special dagger. It's also what suppresses my power," the person said with a bitter smile.

Evan Yang hadn't expected the dagger to be the thing restraining the grave. He thought for a moment and said, "Should I pull it out?"

"Pull it out? Young man, don't be foolish. That thing isn't something you can remove," the person said bitterly.

Evan Yang thought for a moment and said, "Let me try."

The person laughed incredulously, "You'd better not try."

But Evan Yang insisted. He stepped forward and tried to pull with all his strength, but it didn't budge at all, firmly embedded there.

Evan Yang frowned, "I don't believe I can't pull it out."

He kept trying for most of the day, but nothing happened. Finally, he sat helplessly on the grave and asked, "Senior, why is it so tough?"

"I don't know. That dagger has some special enhancements. Unless its owner comes, it can't be removed," the person sighed.

Evan Yang sat there thinking. When he remembered the owner, he got an idea. He summoned a dagger and began communicating with it.

Seeing Evan Yang also had a similar dagger, the owner of the voice was shocked. "How do you have that?"

Evan Yang replied, "I got it a while ago, so I wanted to see if the two daggers were connected." Actually, he knew in his heart they definitely were.

The owner of the voice watched Evan Yang curiously. Maybe Evan could really find a solution, so he grew a bit excited.

Evan Yang communicated with the dagger, and the sword spirit inside said, "It really is the tenth one, but it's a bit unconscious right now."

"Unconscious?" Evan Yang asked, puzzled.

"Yes, it seems someone cast a spell on it," the sword spirit replied.

"Is there any way to wake it up?" Evan Yang knew that if the sword spirit awakened, he might be able to pull out the dagger.

The sword spirit thought for a moment and said, "There is a way, but it may require a bit of your spiritual energy."

"No problem, take as much as you need," Evan Yang said.

The sword spirit nodded, and after communicating with the other sword spirits, the eight daggers inside Evan Yang and the one in his hand began to react.

Instantly, Evan Yang's whole body felt like it was about to swell, and his spiritual energy vanished rapidly. Sensing the change, the person under the grave exclaimed, "Kid, what are you doing?"

From the person's perspective, whatever Evan Yang was doing seemed fatal—even if he didn't know exactly what it was.

But he had no idea Evan Yang's body was different from others; his ability to recover spiritual energy and overall strength were far superior.

"A bit? You're about to drain me dry!" Evan Yang cursed silently in his heart.
