Monk Meets the Enchantress
"Ha! Mentor Jun, you really do have a wicked sense of humor." Lily Xu was absolutely shameless—she just brushed off his rejection like it was nothing and kept flirting. "Why not give me a few tips, Mentor Jun? Pretty please with sugar on top?"
"You're not my apprentice. Why should I bother giving you any tips?"
"Oh, come on! Mentor Jun!" Lily Xu whined, her voice so sugary-sweet Grace nearly gagged. "Just teach me, just this once, please!"
There was a pause inside, then Jun Lionhead’s voice floated out, teasing: "Are you sure that’s how you should be talking to me?"
"When a woman chats with a man, there’s no such thing as inappropriate..." Lily Xu practically purred.
Jun Lionhead: "A woman and a man, huh?"
"Mentor Jun, you’re every woman’s dream. Who wouldn’t be head over heels for you? I’m no exception. Ever since I met you, I’ve been lovesick—can’t eat, can’t sleep, you haunt my dreams every night..."
Seriously, Lily Xu!
Can you get any more shameless?!
Grace gritted her teeth, tempted to yeet Lily Xu right off Spirit Alliance Mountain.
But she didn’t move.
All these years, her mentor had never married, and Grace had never seen him involved with any woman.
He was basically a monk—just missing the shaved head.
Just then, a naughty little thought popped into her head.
She wondered how he’d react in a situation like this...
With that naughty idea in mind, she kept eavesdropping at the corner.
"Imperial Alchemist... How old are you? Have you ever married?" Lily Xu continued to ask sweetly.
"Are you hoping to be my bride?" Jun Lionhead teased.
"If you’d have me, I’d marry you in a heartbeat! Even if I can’t be your wife, being your concubine and waiting on you would be a blessing!" Her voice got lower and sultrier—who knows what she was up to in there.
Grace squished her face against the door, desperate to catch a glimpse.
But just then, the door swung open with a bang!
Grace was still plastered to the door!
She toppled inside in a flustered heap.
Thankfully, she was quick on her feet and managed to catch herself—no faceplant today!
At that exact moment, something shot past her.
Then, with a loud "bang!", the door slammed shut again.
That flying object? Lily Xu herself.
Her curses echoed from outside, and it sounded like she finally stomped off...
Grace blinked at Jun Lionhead, trying to act casual.
Dressed all in white, he looked like an immortal straight out of a painting.
"Mentor..." Grace called.
"You spent all that time eavesdropping, but didn’t bother to rescue me—why’s that?" Jun Lionhead looked up and asked.
"Ahem, ahem!" Grace coughed twice, then flashed a mischievous grin, her little white teeth gleaming. "I was just... a little curious, that’s all."
"Curious about what, exactly?"
"Curious what happens when a monk meets a temptress," Grace teased. "I wanted to see you handle it..."
"Why do you think I’m a monk?"
"Mentor, how old are you this year?"
"What’s my age got to do with being a monk?"
"No, no! I mean, you must be at least... thirty, right? At your age and still single—if you’re not secretly a monk, what else could it be?"
Jun Lionhead paused, then said, "I have high standards. Ordinary women just don’t do it for me. But all I’ve got is a humble hut—so the ones I like aren’t willing to marry me. That’s why I’m still single."
"Is that so?" Grace arched a brow, clearly skeptical. "But now you’ve got the whole Full Moon Manor! Isn’t it time you found me a teacher’s wife?"
Jun Lionhead smiled faintly and replied, "Let fate decide."
