Settling Scores

"Look at you, acting like you have zero interest—are you sure you’re not a monk?" Grace muttered, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "Master, how about I play matchmaker for you?"

Jun Lionhead: "Matchmaker?"

"Exactly!" Grace said enthusiastically. "I know an absolutely stunning woman—elegant and clever. She’d be a perfect match for you!"

"Who?"

Hehe, after the Spirit Alliance Convention wraps up today, I’ll bring her to Full Moon Manor so you can meet her. Sound good?

Jun Lionhead said, "Whatever you want."

"It’s settled then!" Grace grinned. "I’ve got something to take care of, so I’ll leave you to relax, Master!"

With that, she dashed off in a flash.

She had to go settle the score with Lily Xu!

How dare she set her sights on Grace’s own master!

She wants to be my Master’s wife?

Pfft!

When Grace found her, Lily Xu was blending in with the other Spiritual Alchemists, acting all nonchalant.

"Lily Xu!" Grace called out.

Lily Xu shot her a sideways glance. "What do you want?"

"Of course I want something." Grace walked right up to her. "I’m here to collect!"

"Collect what? I never borrowed money from you!"

Grace smiled. "At the Mentor Appreciation Banquet, we made a bet! Now it’s time for you to pay up!"

"I don’t know what bet you’re talking about! I have no idea what you mean!" Lily Xu tried to play dumb.

"Lily Xu, we all heard your bet with Grace!" Zachary Stone chimed in from the side. "Trying to weasel out in front of all these witnesses? Not a good look!"

"What’s it to you, huh? Mind your own business!" Lily Xu shot Zachary Stone a vicious glare. "Anyway, I don’t remember a thing! Go bow to whoever you want—I’m not doing it!"

Grace just smiled, then suddenly grabbed Lily Xu by the collar and forced her to kneel.

"In the world of martial arts, if you break an oath, you settle it with force." Grace said. "If you won’t admit to the bet or bow and apologize, I’ll cut out your tongue and smash your teeth! Let’s see how you talk your way out of things then!"

With that, she grabbed Lily Xu’s mouth and drew her Scarlet Sky Sword.

A crowd gathered to watch the drama unfold. Lily Xu flailed and wailed, looking just like a crab caught in a net.

"Chloe Zhu!" Suddenly, Winston Wu strode over, face stern. "What do you think you’re doing?"

"This is a personal matter between me and Lily Xu," Grace said. "It has nothing to do with you, Vice President Wu!"

"Today is the Spirit Alliance Convention. You’re both members of the Alliance—what kind of example are you setting by causing a scene?" Winston Wu said righteously. "Let her go!"

Grace chuckled. "Vice President Wu, when Lily Xu made that bet with me at the Mentor Appreciation Banquet, why didn’t you stop her? Now that it’s time for her to pay up, you’re suddenly so eager to intervene! I wonder, what’s your relationship with her? Why are you defending her so fiercely?"

"Nonsense!" Winston Wu’s face darkened. "Let her go now, or don’t blame me for punishing you according to Alliance rules! Disrupting the Convention means at least a month in detention!"

Grace had served as the President of the Spirit Alliance for years, so she naturally knew the Alliance rules inside and out.

That particular rule definitely existed.

Although the Grandmaster said the next President would be her,

She wasn’t the President just yet, though.

Winston Wu did have the authority to punish her.

But she was about to head to headquarters, so naturally she couldn’t afford to be put in detention.

Grace took a deep breath, just about to let Lily Xu go, when she heard her master’s voice: "Grace."
