Battle Against Skyspear City Experts

1/19/2026

Skyspear City was thrown into chaos. Thomas Jia led the experts of the City Lord’s Mansion and the heads of several major families, all rushing to the city wall.

The news of Evan Chu and Sean Xiao causing such an earth-shaking scene spread through Skyspear City in no time. Crowds swarmed toward the city gate, and soon the area was packed to bursting.

The Shade Lord and Doctor Yao also heard about a youth and a middle-aged man kidnapping the City Lord’s son and killing several clan heirs. Doctor Yao wasn’t particularly curious about the matter—he figured only brain-damaged fools would do something so reckless, and now that the City Lord’s Mansion and the big families were involved, it would be settled soon enough.

There was only one possible outcome—getting killed. To Doctor Yao, this kind of commotion wasn’t worth watching; it was better to just stay home and enjoy a cup of tea.

The Shade Lord, though, saw things differently. His instincts told him this had to be Evan Chu’s doing—only Evan would dare stir up such madness.

"I didn’t expect that guy to recover so fast. He really is a monster. I just hope he can handle Skyspear City’s experts smoothly this time—save me the trouble," the Shade Lord muttered to himself.

Princess Ivy and Roxanne Lin were still deep in sleep, utterly exhausted from the previous night’s dual cultivation with Evan Chu—as if their bodies had been taken apart and put back together. Even if they wanted to get up, their strength just wouldn’t cooperate.

Meanwhile, Evan Chu and Sean Xiao stood quietly in midair. Beside them floated Jace Jia, but after his beating he looked more like a dog than a man—barely recognizable and covered in filth.

Soon enough, City Lord Thomas Jia, several family heads, and a number of powerful experts arrived at the city gate. When they saw Evan Chu and Sean Xiao floating in the air, their faces twisted with rage.

One of the family heads, unable to bear the grief of losing his son, charged into the sky and roared at Evan Chu and Sean Xiao: “You brat! Give me back my son’s life!”

The fight started with a powerful martial technique, sending violent energy ripples across the skies of Skyspear City. The family head who attacked was roughly at Third-Layer Venerable Martial Realm—nothing Evan Chu and Sean Xiao would even bother with.

"Sean Xiao, this one’s yours. Let’s see how many breaths you need to finish him off—don’t disappoint me," Evan Chu said coolly.

Sean Xiao’s face soured. "Why is it always me doing the work while you just watch? Isn’t that a little unfair?"

"Oh? Then I’ll take this one and you can rest. But keep in mind, City Lord Thomas Jia is a Fifth-Layer Venerable—he’s all yours later. That’s fair, right?" Evan Chu grinned.

"Hell no! You want me to fight a Fifth-Layer Venerable? Are you trying to get me killed? I’ll handle this one, thanks—you just rest!" Sean Xiao laughed.

Evan Chu, seeing Sean Xiao’s flustered look, chuckled. "Hey, you’re the one who wanted to rest. Just don’t start complaining later. I’m curious to see how much you’ve improved over the years."

Sean Xiao caught the family head’s attack with ease. "So these so-called great families of Skyspear City are just all hype, huh? I thought they’d be impressive, but they’re nothing special."

After Sean Xiao said this, City Lord Thomas Jia and two other family heads, along with their experts, all flew up to join the first attacker. For now, Sean Xiao didn’t strike back.

"Skyspear City has no grudge with you two. Why kill my people? Even if my son offended you, I ask you to show some mercy for my sake. You may be a Fourth-Layer Venerable, but I don’t take you seriously. I’ve always valued talent, but I never expected something like this to happen.

All I want is for you to return my son Jace Jia. As for your issues with the other family heads, I won’t interfere. Take your time to consider," said Thomas Jia.

"If you want your son back, it’s simple—just submit to him. Agree, and I’ll release your son immediately. Refuse, and he’s as good as dead," Sean Xiao said lightly.

Thomas Jia’s face twisted in fury. "You dare threaten me? No one in Skyspear City has ever spoken to me like this! I may value talent, but anyone who isn’t loyal is useless to me. If I can’t use you, you don’t deserve to exist in this world."

Evan Chu just laughed. "Who do you think you are? You dare act up in front of me? A mere Fifth-Layer Venerable ant wants to recruit talent? Let me make it clear—anyone who submits to me can stay in Skyspear City. Anyone who wants to test my strength will only end up dead."

Thomas Jia burst out laughing. "You brat, you must be tired of living! Even the Shade Lord wouldn’t dare talk to me like this, and you’re just a snot-nosed kid. I’ll give you three breaths—if you don’t let go of my son, you’ll both die right here."

"City Lord, there’s no need to waste words with this brat. Since they killed my son, I won’t let them leave alive—even if you want to spare them. Today I’ll see just how strong a Fourth-Layer Venerable really is," another family head said, rage burning in his eyes.

"Since you refuse to see reason, I won’t waste any more words. Why don’t you all come at once? Let’s see just how strong Skyspear City’s experts really are. I hear some of you want to compete with the Shade Lord for clan chief—without enough strength, that’s just wishful thinking!" Evan Chu sneered, his face full of disdain.

"You’re asking for death!" the family head snapped, unable to hold back any longer, and struck at Evan Chu with his palm.

Evan Chu responded instantly, unleashing the Demon-Breaking Fist. Thunder and wind roared in everyone’s ears, and his attack was every bit as fierce as the family head’s.

The crowd below erupted. Seeing Evan Chu attack a family head, most thought he was just asking to be crushed—how foolish!

"Who is that kid? He actually dared attack the Yang Family head—a Fourth-Layer Venerable! Looks like he’ll be killed by this move."

"If he’s bold enough to face Skyspear City’s top experts, he must be strong. Maybe he’ll survive the Yang Family head’s attack."

"You’re all wrong. I know that kid—do you know who he is? He’s the Shade Lord’s son-in-law from Nine-Shade City, and his strength is terrifying. If he’s making a scene today, you can bet he’s ready for anything."

The crowd buzzed with speculation—some worried for Evan Chu, others thought he deserved whatever he got. Just then, Evan Chu and the Yang Family head’s attacks collided…
